  1. My SX6 does the same. Never noticed it until I installed lowering springs and it only appears to be coming from the front LH side when turning from a stop or going over certain bumps. The problem has become more noticeable recently after I installed even lower springs in the front. It's worth pointing out that the steering wheel vibrates a bit when doing 110kph on the motorway (not always though, but most times, depending on the surface of the road). Have ruled out alignment, wheel balancing, shocks, swaybar links, strut top bearings, brake rotors and brake pads. The last thing for me to check is the lower control arm bushes. Fortunately I haven't replaced all of those parts in an effort to fix the problem, as they were done in the process of other mods/upgrades, but as a bonus I've been able to rule them out as potential causes of the annoying knock.
  2. Been through the complete guts of what's needed side-by-side with two Aurions with a stripped interior (Presara/Grande vs Sportivo) and there are many more changes needed than that unfortunately. For starters there's another servo motor on the airbox behind the dash, which can't be added in to the existing one - That's only for the dual zone function though, but still plays a big part in the functionality of the rest of the unit. The temp sensor down by your left knee is easy enough as there is already a port to plug it into, however you have to run new wiring to the A/C amplifier under the dash. Without swapping literally everything over from the top spec model, including the body harness, there's no easy way to get full functionality. I'd be very happy if someone proved me wrong however, or at least managed to get heat with it, but I believe I've gone down every possible avenue to get it working 'properly' without tearing my whole dash apart.
  3. After almost a year of the having the King Springs installed and never really being satisfied with the horrendous fender gap at the front compared to the slammed look at the back, I decided to do something about it and get new springs and shocks. I toyed with the idea of coilovers, but due to needing a cert it just wasn't justifiable enough for me, but luckily these new Dobi springs have dropped it to a coilover-like height without all of the extra expense. To achieve the perfect drop all round I ended up reusing the King Springs in the rear and only used the Dobi springs in the front. You may notice that the carbon front lip isn't in the photos.....Reason being is that it ripped off from the front bumper trying to get into my garage....twice. So after two unsuccessful attempts to overcome the small concrete lip at the entrance of the garage I decided that a front lip is just never going to work at this sort of height. Even now the bottom of the bumper scrapes against the concrete coming in, and that's minor compared to most places I go, so it's probably for the best :D
  4. Thanks mate :). The first 3 photos were taken at Omana Regional Park, and the last photo was taken near Kawakawa Bay, both here in Auckland and only about a half hour drive from my house.
  5. I have an UltraGauge in my Aurion which also measures the air intake temp from the MAF sensor and it's usually only about 3-8 degrees Celcius higher than the outside temp displayed on the cluster. I have a cold air intake fitted with the pod filter located behind the LH fog light however, but even with the factory intake box it was only up to 10-degrees higher when cruising most days. Goes up a lot when the car has been parked due to heatsoak, but there's not much difference when driving. 20-degrees is a big difference. You might want to calibrate the ScanGauge if that's possible.
  6. New photos:
  7. That's what I thought initially, but it does it even when the engine is dead cold, so there's no reason for the fans to come on when the key is in the 'ON' position or otherwise. Seems like Toyota did it on purpose.
  8. Yes, the Aurion is the same. Possibly a way to test the fans on the production line after the engine has been fitted. Pretty sure it's only an Australian assembled thing though as I've never seen it on any Japanese models.
  9. Figured that I should post a few other small things that have been done over the last couple of months that made a noticeable difference (or at least to me anyway, haha). The photos were taken before some of the latest updates (carbon lip etc) but include chrome trim around the silver dash inserts and front fog light surrounds, a facelift Aurion license plate bracket that I modified to fit the pre-facelift front bumper so the plate sits nicer with the large frame, the reinstall of my original knob type A/C controls but wrapped in carbon vinyl to match my centre console and an updated photo of my engine bay as it stands right now.
  10. Something a bit different from me - Night shots!! We decided to take the kids into town last night since they've never been before, so while we were there I took the opportunity to take some night shots of the Aurion with the Auckland Sky Tower in the background.
  11. I had considered that, but I suck when it comes to that sort of stuff, so I bought some red vinyl online tonight instead. That way it'll still be red but the vinyl should cut out a lot of the glare/brightness.
  12. I installed these LED bumper reflectors today. I haven't see this particular style on any Aurion before so when I saw them I knew I had to have a set :). They're designed to be 100% plug-and-play with no splicing required and mount the exact same way as the stock reflectors. The worst part about the whole job is that you have to remove the rear bumper in order to get to the screw on the back holding the reflector in, but it didn't turn out to be as difficult as I had imagined. After fitting them I found that they were really quite bright, in fact too bright, so I put a layer of tint film over each light to dull down the light output a bit. Not 100% sold on the tinted look however, so time will tell if I pull the tint off or not. Either way, the lights are here to stay. The lights come on when the park lights are on and get brighter when you brake. They also have the ability to flash when you indicate, but this looked tacky in my opinion so I left that particular plug disconnected. All in all it's a nice simplistic mod that looks like it was there from the factory. Below are a series of photos in their original form and then tinted. Also, these carbon fiber vent stickers arrived in the mail today so I figured I'd chuck them on and see how they look. I'm not normally a fan of dull/matte carbon fiber designs but these were nice and cheap. I traced around them before sticking them on so I can try and make my own ones out of glossy carbon in future:
  13. Cheers mate :) Here's some new ones I took today:
  14. Never did manage to get it fully functional. Even with the proper connector/plug it didn't work at all, so I came to the conclusion that that was the most I was ever going to get out of the swap without actually changing over the entire harness/loom and A/C components.
  15. Quick Saturday mod - I pulled off my old foam EZ Lip and installed this glossy carbon lip in it's place. Was difficult to photograph due to the glossiness but you get the idea :)
  16. I've got the Eonon GA5146F in mine and love it. Previously had the Erisin ES7668AU but it was way too buggy and annoying. Had no issues with the Eonon however. I did a bit of a review in my build thread:
  17. The TRD Aurion grille is made specifically for that model, so won't fit with anything else other than the TRD front bumper.
  18. I installed an oil catch tank in my Aurion recently. This might be helpful:
  19. They're super lows. My Aurion came with the optional 18" TRD wheels, so all of the photos on previous pages of this thread are how it sat with the factory wheels.
  20. I just did this today on mine. As far as I can tell, the purpose of the hook is to stop the top inner corner of the glass from flexing too much as there's no real support there for it. You don't actually need the hook however, as it's sturdy enough without it, but it basically acts as a 'leg' between the glass and the mirror housing. The worst part about reinstalling the glass is connecting the two wires for the motors.....Get ready for a lot of swearing.
  21. Yes, still using King Springs with the standard shocks. Planning on changing to aftermarket shocks in the near future just because the current ones have done 200k so are likely starting to get tired, but there have been no issues using the King Springs with them.
