  1. why would you only shift at 5k? Because with the 1zz and 1nze engines they get their peak torque at 4000-4400 RPM, and there's no point pushing it much further than 5500 RPM in those particular engines, after changing, it'll put you just below 4000 RPM, optimal RPM for the next gear... the 1NZ-FE does not hit peak power until 6000rpm and the 1ZZ @ 6400... i would be trying to shift at 5900-6000rpm in the lower gears on the track... But Torque is the main pulling force... As my understanding of the whole Torque/Kilowatt thing goes...
  2. Hmm, that's a very good point, that 80kw engine pushing 800-900kg isn't really gonna make it too far over 180... So... When's the 2zz engine with the 6 speed getting dropped in? :P
  3. why would you only shift at 5k? Because with the 1zz and 2nze (edited from 1nze) engines they get their peak torque at 4000-4400 RPM, and there's no point pushing it much further than 5500 RPM in those particular engines, after changing, it'll put you just below 4000 RPM, optimal RPM for the next gear...
  4. Auto I take it? :P nope... Hmm nice! the yaris tops out at about 180 so there isnt much point at recording the theoretical top speed of 5th gear. True, well without serious power mods, to find out it's "Actual" top speed... Might as well just throw a 2zz in it, if you were gonna do that... or even a better way to find out the top speed, Boot up Forza 3, buy a Yaris and find out... Speaking of which, I have one in that game, I'll get back to you after I find out the top speed on that gearbox :P
  5. Indeed... As quite a few of the members have been saying, They don't quite pay attention when they change and for the better part of things, I don't. But I know within a few hundred RPM where I am on the range... It's approximately 1st - 0-20kmh 2nd - 20-40kmh 3rd - 30-60kmh 4th - 40-80kmh 5th - 50kmh onwards I think changing at 3000RPM on a cold engine is a bit high, I tend to change at 2000RPM, So... 1st - 0-10kmh 2nd - 10-20kmh 3rd - 20-30kmh 4th - 30-40kmh 5th - 40kmh onwards... And try not to go over 2500rpm, at least till it's heated up... Anyone think this is necessary?
  6. Hmm... I like the look of the Stivo dash... I just have an annoying white dash. I don't plan on revving my current engine out to 8200rpm... Not without a serious rebuild & part upgrade on basically the whole engine. :P I saw this instument cluster that looked similar to mine, just inverted colors... Which looked AWESOME, (similar to a Stivo's dash) and I just wanted to see if anyone on here has that dash...
  7. Hi, I was wondering for the people that own Manual 1zz ZZE122's and 123's to post a pic or so of their dashes up... Because I have the crummy white one, and was looking into the inverted one, that the ZZE123 "apparently" has. I am unsure if it is possible to steal a dash out of a 2zz and drop it into a 1zz... Any help with this would be greatly appreciated...
  8. They're usually Pioneer... unless they've gotten cheaper over the years... Mine are Pioneer, and the few other corolla's (06 onwards) I've looked at were... They sound a smidgen better than the newer speakers, but even so, aftermarket head-unit doesn't help distortion, without running a HPF at 125 hz...
  9. It's actually a third of redline, So lets say 6k RPM is max, they'd ask you to rev to 2k... and it's also 500mm away from the rear of the exhaust.
  10. It'd help if you had 6 gears xD I've got the 5 speed option (Non 2ZZ) :P
  11. Center console window switches??? I've only seen the door ones... Would you be willing to split the front doors from the rear? (Very unlikely... -.-" ) sorry i mean the complete trim is included with the power window set: So no chance you'll split the front doors separately?

  13. Hi the catback is the stock 1zz hatchback exhaust... Haha, thanks! I already got me one of those... (just without the rear muffler) :P Hopefully changing soon B)
  14. Go ahead and delete the past 3 comments by me, the first two were trying to split up a message that "apparently" could be sent by PM, which is now sent.

  15. Hey, My apologies about the bonnet thing, I only saw a small image of it, so I thought that it was CF...

I've been looking into some Bi-xenon H7 headlights... I'm thinking about using the same ones as Chicken is planning on using (coincidentally)

  16. I was sending him messages, and linked him to the bi-xenon projectors I was planning on using (the Infiniti FX45 / FX-R Lenses).

    He stated he's

  17. Like Chicken said, They tend to show generic pictures of bulb packages, due to the vast number of bulb types out there... I know these are a little more expensive, but I find them amazing! I've had 1 problem with one of the ballasts (which after leaving it for a month, started working again) I contacted the seller, he said, "no worries, if you don't mind paying for the shipping to you, I'll send you a brand new ballast" They also come with a lifetime warranty, which is great, most people on eBay would be lucky to give you a year... At request, I can upload some pics of my lights, and bulbs, if you'd like...
  18. What, No warning first..? Usually they warn you, unless your in Newcastle or Sydney... But I suppose $40 isn't too bad I guess...
  19. Hey, Evo... You seem to have an unlimited amount of resources with finding nicknacks here and there for your 1zz Rolla... :P Would you happen to have seen fog lights being sold for the 05+ pre-facelift model? ( ^^ for this front bar?) Cheers -Steve I don't know if the '05+ sedan/wagons come with the foglight harness pre-installed from factory (the '01+ sedan/wagons did). If it does, you can: 1. pick up these (and use the lamps only): http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Toyota-Corolla-04-07-Hatchback-Fog-Light-LHS-or-RHS_W0QQitemZ390178059785QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5ad86cb609#ht_500wt_948 (The 05+ sedan/wagons share the same foglight unit with the hatch) 2. Buy the 05+ sedan/wagon fog light shrouds from the dealer. 3. Then grab a Narva micro relay (the part number is on these forums somewhere..), and install that behind the coin box. 4. From there, either wire up your own push switch, or install the factory stalk from a Levin/Ultima (simple plug and play for the ZZE's - doesn't require removing steering wheel). Hope that helps! Not bad... It's $120 for the lights, shipped, and $78 for each shroud... Thanks!!! -Steve
  20. Hey, if the cat-back exhaust system hasn't sold, Could I please find out how much shipping would be to Nelson bay, 2315? Also, I'd like to know, (if possible) What the diameter of the pipe on the exhaust system is, and if it's aftermarket... Thanks!
  21. Hmm, Nice... What kind of filter are you running on your DIY intake? I'd like to know what it looks like, If you don't mind... I was considering the DIY option for myself before I bought a CAI system... I've also got a set of DC Sports headers, They unfortunately currently aren't installed. Did you buy them from America, if you did, do they have any fitting issues? Forgive me for being a n00b, but what's a Unichip, and why is it better to run a 1zz with a 2zz cat back system? Thanks! -Steve
