My car is due to have its 50,000 km in a week or so. Ive read thru the thread and im more confused. Which oil grading do i need, and what should i get? Also will the dealer charge me more or refuse to service my car if i supply the oil instead? Car is an AUTO btw.

Did the corolla really output that much emissions to begin with? Or is just Toyota being anal? I always thought the corolla to be a environmentally friendly car. (What they should do is ban those 15 year old car that emit a hugh black cloud when the accelerate!)

Almost every tyre store sells rims, its just matter of find one that can get the rims and tyres you want. Falken Ze326 ive been told are a crappy tyre so any store that promotes them I would staying away from. I personally went thru the white pages and called up the tyre stores until i got the price I was satisfied with (good old work phone :P ) Do you have any idea what kinda rims you like? Tried them Allianz CGU NRMA AAMI GIO SunCorp Shannons RACQ Justcars. So far Justcars is the cheapest, its more expensive to insure a 2003 corolla than a 2006 corolla (and the 2003 corolla is insured for less... any idea why?)

looks better, its just a standard black & grey mesh type fabric (similar to the ones you find at KMart/AutoBarn/etc). The fit quite well and dont slide around when you park your bum on it. (Which is the main reason i picked these over throwovers) :D

That had absolutely nothing to do with what was asked.. Now on a better note... There are no tax free areas? (never heard of them) in australia.. You pay tax on everything just about get used to it and move on... not worth worrying about.. if you want to save some money go 2nd hand but almost new.. but there will still be tax etc.. Depends on how you interpret the question, just cos you know the differences between certain corollas, doesnt mean everyone else does (hence the questions). Im sure aklobi would find this advice rather useful (unless they already knew previously) and they would prefer know before they've forked out their money on a corolla is that its 93kw instead of 100kw. (Im sure there are plenty of new corolla owners who have said "WTF" when they found out that info). Also I tend to stay away from DEMO cars, for one simple reason, these cars are usually thrashed! Why i say that is every test drive ive been on to date I have told by the dealers "floor it/gun it, demo cars are meant to be thrashed" So not wanting to offend the dealer i complied and thrashed the fck outta it :P Anyways on another note The reason i have been advised the new corollas are 93kw instead of 100kw is because of emissions it outputs. (Does the corolla output such a bad level of emissions to begin with anyway? )

just came back from the seat cover store. Fitting the back seats are extremely easy. For the sedan its held together by two clips. The clips are actually in the same place as shown the diagram in the user manual for the hatch and wagon (except that the fact that the sedan doesnt have the two holders for you to pull up on). However if you get your hand underneath and give it a quick yank it should come off without any hassles. Putting the seat back on afterwards its easy, just lay it in place and hit it down, it should go "click" and your done. Hopes this helps other corolla sedan owners. (Btw i bought my seat covers from Ryan Seat Covers on the corner of Canterbury Rd and Fore St Canterbury 2193 - got from and back for $75 :D)

How much are we looking at here? Ive got some wheels that need fixing. These scratches are rather deep and are on the spoke (one of the wheels). The other wheel has some typical gutter scratches.

Definately. My mate bought his Corolla Ascent ZZE122 in Nov 2002 (brand new). The fault started with left hand turns, when going into left turns the car would shake (the same shake when you are in the wrong gear and your engine is lagging - when we turned a left corner @ 30~40km). I found the only way around this was to force a down shift in a turn (the car was an AUTO). Mine also had the same problem, but it wasnt as pronounced as his, but mines gone away since then. The 2nd fault with his car was the cold start, the car would shake like no tomorrow, it turned out that one of the cables connection the spark plugs was kinda loose or something (thank *** we go Toyota to fix it under warranty, car was about 2 years 10 months old :P ). Overall the car has been good, but not without its faults.

Got some back seat covers for my car. Ive got the back bit of the back seat on, but the problem im facing here is that I have NFI how do get the back seat covers on (well the bit were you sit your bum on). Mines a sedan and i dont think you can just pull the rear seat off like you can in the hatch and wagon (the manual doesnt show that its possible - and i tried and i couldnt pull it off yesterday). Does anyone know how i can place the rear seat covers on? I can kinda slide them under, but it doesnt hold properly, i want to be able to tie the ends together so they dont slide out of place no matter how much you wiggle your bum on them.

Mental note, do not buy a 2nd hand sportivo off holim :P

I thought all the Corolla Sedans were made in Japan and Japan only (that was one of the reasons i got the sedan as well) and it was the hatches that got a South Africa or Japan build. Anyways i checked mine and its built in JAPAN. YAY!!! :D

I remember hearing that spacers are illegal.... I was @ BobJane @ Bankstown on the weekend to get a wheel alignment and I was asking him about 17" rims the rubbing of the guards, he just said to me ti use spacers Then he said if the wheels are rubbing the guard they can roll the guard. What exactly does rolling the guard do? And is it recommended?

ignoring the suburb part, but wtf is wrong with NRMA? For the suburb im in (2193) a 25 year old costs more than a 24 year old!!! (For JustCars another Suburb such as Ermington (2115) its more expensive than Canterbury (2193), yet NRMA has Ermington cheaper - I just dont get these underwriters!)

Look for one that was built before Oct05, those are still 100kw, the new ones are 93kw (excluding sportivo)

hmmmz i would have thought the Enkei RP03's would be lighter... I came across this the other day when browsing for rim weights. http://wheelweights.net/wheel-weight-weight.pdf According to this, the RP03's (17x7) weight 16.8 pounds or 7.62Kg per rim.

thats weird, i was just doing some quotes on the NRMA/AAMI website and a person due to turn 25 in <3 months costs $1571, whereas a person already 25 is $1607... WTF? (AAMI was $1721 for a male 25). And this is on a STOCK corolla Conquest 2003 auto.... is there something that im missing here? Just cars on the other hand quoted $1121... (24 or 25). License aquired 1998, with no driving offences in the last 5 years (ie 60~65 NCB). Is there something that im missing here?
