  1. i just curious to know wtf inspired toyota to go backwards with everyone else going forward. Never really noticed that the 100kw sentence disappeared from their ads.
  2. wtf? they downed it to 93kw????? http://corolla.toyota.com.au/toyota/vehicl...661_562,00.html 1.8 litre VVT-i engine 93kW power* 4-wheel disc brakes ABS with BA & EBD (Ultima & Levin) Driver's SRS airbag Power steering Power windows (Conquest, Ultima & Levin) Power mirrors 6 speaker MP3 compatible CD Air conditioning Central locking & keyless entry 3 year / 100,000km warranty *Available from October 05 Production Ouch! Ummm so wtf did they do to the engine to make it 93kw as opposed to 100kw? So has the sportivo reduced its rating too?
  3. Ive been reading this here http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...?showtopic=3683 and i dont quite get it. Whats the difference between 17x7 and 17x8? What offset should I have? If one gets a 17x7 rim, what tyres do you need? 205 or 215 or 225?
  4. well i sure hope they look after me, considering i did look after them and re-structured their retirement planning them. I think ill give him a go. Thanks again guys!
  5. I have helped a few friends purchase vehicles. One thing with negotiations, do not let the fear of unable to purchase the car scare you. Remember that there is ALWAYS another dealer who can and will give you a better price. Never be afraid to get up and walk off after an hours worth of negotiation. (The amount of times ive done that and got a further ~$2000 off. ). These are the steps i follow 1. Go around to the local dealer and ask for the price, negotiate for 5 mins (If an ASIAN salesperson comes up to you, tell you're still looking, NEVER negotiate with an ASIAN person, you get no where - Im asian myself). 2. Go the next dealer and tell them price you got (less $500~$100) and see how they react. In most cases they'll agree. This figure (less another $500~$1000) will now become your basis of negotiation over the phone. 3. Go home and print out the listing of every Toyota (since we're talking corollas here) dealer there is in your city. Call each and every one of them one by one, and ask what their price is. You may get an answer of "come in and we'll get you the best price" Here's what i normally say "I'll just cut straight to the chase, ive already been offered a Corolla from another dealer for $xx,xxx with mats, tints, spoiler, etc" (dont go overboard and say things like 17" rims and side skirts etc cos they'll know you're lying unless the price is realistic). "Can you do better?" Ok, how much? If they say just come in and we'll get the best price, just cross them off your list. They might ask if the store has the car in stock, always answer YES and tell them you saw the car in the colour you wanted sitting in the yard. (This is because some will say "they dont have it stock thats why, but we do, hence we charge more"). The trick is find someone who looks like they really need to sell or they'll get an ***** whooping from their boss. If you call the same dealer 30mins later, more than likely you'll get another guy who is more desperate than the first. 4. Visit the dealers you have built rapport with and given you a good price. 5. Talk to them about the price mentioned on the phone and push it down even further. One of the cheapest (but not always) Toyota dealers in Sydney ive noticed is Phil Gilbert @ Lidcombe. I was told by an ex-employee @ Toyota Clintons Lakemba that Phil Gilbert go by volume and use the bonuses they get from Toyota to compensate, how true this statement is I have no idea.
  6. hmmmmz, have a read of your post and im feeling a bit concerned now. I did go thru a period where a did fill my car to the brim (hey i didnt know better) - i did that for about 4-5 months, and i have noticed that my fuel consumption has increased (well i just put it to crap fuel even though i was filling up BP Ultimate the whole time). Im barely hitting 300km's on half tank, and i usually fill up @ 3/4 tank ~ 450km's (and this is with me driving on freeways @ 90km, and slow acceleration <2200rpm), i reckon im average 8L/100km with minimal acceleration. When i do decide to gun it a bit more, im guessing im on 9L/100km =( Since ive done this, what can i do to reverse the effects to get my fuel consumption back to the way it was? My car is due for its 50,000km service in <1month, is there anything i should get Toyota to do? At present the only thing that aint Toyota in my car is a K&N Air filter http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=33-2252 So can anyone offer me ANY advice?
  7. Hi and welcome to our club, if I were you I would keep it going to home base (were you bought it from). Just incase you have any warranty issues they won't hesitate to fix them, it is also good to build a friendly relationship with them. You may need there advise in future and they will be willing to help! Kind regards......................... Thanks for the welcome BlAcK JeT, i currently do take it to Toyota, but i just take to whichever dealer is convenient for me (which is Liverpool at the moment). Should i avoid normal "garages" (only reason is because Ive had financial dealings (i fixed his banking stuff) with a guy who owns a garage in Hoxton Park, should i trust him to service my corolla?)
  8. Rather than start a new thread, where in SYDNEY should i take my corolla for a 50,000km service?
  9. haha, thats a bit selfish =P Doesnt look like ill be getting them RP03's anytime soon, i called up YHI Australia and was told they are about $375 per wheel (way above my intended budget), so it looks like you'll still be the only Corolla with them on =D. So ive decided to look elsewhere. Ive looked a few manufacturers and would like to hear some comments about them ie they their rims are chinese made tin can material (and if possible rank them in order). Advanti Speedywheels ALT Wheels HR Racing RJR (From Bob Jane T-Mart) Currently im thinking of the Speedywheels Holotype-R (these are made in Australia so they are safe right?) Ive been told by TyrePower its $1358 for the package Package includes 4xToyo Trampio TPG 215/45/R17 @ $182 x 4 + 4x Holotype-R @ 157.50 Locknuts extra $20. Ive noticed that ALT, HR Racing both have rims that look very similar to the Enkei RP03, Advanti have one too, but not in Australia yet (they have it in New Zealand and Singapore). My stock tyres are 195/60/R15, will running 215/45/R17 have any defect issues (other than my speedo running a little bit out?). Only reason why im looking for the 215/45/R17 opposed to 205/45/R17 is because the 205's cost more =P
  10. Are these good prices on Toyos? Tranpath SW 215/45/R17 91W - $179 205/45/R17 88W - $195 Trampio TPG 215/45/R17 91W - $194 195/60/R15 88H - $141 Transas TEO 195/60/R15 88H - $135 If i do decide to stick with 15" probably better off paying $6 and getting TPG's yea?
  11. Just went to the tyre shop to get some prices for a Enkei RP03 + Toyo tyre package.... approx $1500~$1600. http://www.enkei.co.jp/en/p_detail_rp03.html Click to view full-sized image! However there are few things that worry me. 1. I asked the guy about the Enkei RP03, he shows me a some similar looking one, when told him i wanted Enkei, he replies "they are all the same". :Paranoid: But i made him find out how much the Enkeis were. 2. I ask him what tyres are going on it, he says Toyos FZ4's. I had a look at the Toyo Australian website, and the only FZ4's are 16,18,19" The 17" dont exist on the Australia Toyo website. He showed me a 205/40/R17 (Product code 189710), even though i said i wanted 205/45/R17 Looked on the american site, and the ones he was pointing out were on there (205/40/R17). Would it be safe the say that these are more than likely to be parallel imports because if they were made in Australia they would appear on Toyo's australian website? Wouldnt getting tyres made for the US and using it here in Australia be rather dangerous considering its not been design for australian roads? (Ignoring warranty issues and stuff). I then went to Australia's best and inquired about the same thing, the guy says to me about $3100 with Toyos T1R's (he didnt call or check, but said I would be looking at $500 for each rim for Enkei's). Why is there such a big difference between the two? Is it possible that the first store i went to can get it cheaper? Or is more than likely they got fake Enkei's?
  12. Saw Xoom's ones, i reckon they look ok, but not really my style. Looking for something more simplistic in design and probably silver. Btw are Enkei and Advanti rims any good? Cos ive been told by other ppl that the rims TempeTyres stock are ****, last thing i want is to buy a 17" that looks nice and handles worse than my stock corolla 15"
  13. Hey im considering purchasing some 17" rims and tyres for my 2003 Corolla Sedan (as my original stock ones arent as grippy as they should be), now ive been told those cheap tyre + rim packages you get from places like www.tempetyres.com.au are absolute crap as they are heavier and are of very poor manufacturing. Im only looking to spend <$1500 on total, would i get better performance by getting cheap 17" tempetyre rims with 205/45/R16 or should i just stick with the stock rims that came on the conquest (195/60/R15) and get new tyres for them? I will only be using these for daily normal driving, no crazy revving or nothing, and i am thinking of getting 17" purely because of a "i just want to" mentailty (ive been putting myself off getting 17" rims for the last years already =P). Thanks!
