  1. I am 36 and yet I got pulled over twice in my new ride, just because it's black and had street legal darkest tint doesn't mean I am an old fart!

And yes I almost lost my licence in my previous car cos I had full 12 points and now it's on 5 points (all 7 points lost within April to June 2011!!!). I don't know if I got busted lately cos of new cameras out there.

  2. Hey are the cracks supposed to be on the wall of the wheel arch?
I reckon that's just a build up of road grime and dirt? If not get those cracks checked asap.

That's what I thought too until i saw the 1st picture of the close up the crack is more pronounced. To the OP, I agree with Adamsy to have that checked out as well.

  3. Hi,

When I had the silver Aurion actually a few weeks prior to its write off, you can see attached the image of my fuel economy when driving from Victoria Park to Stirling to pick up mate then driving to Bunbury for lunch on the long weekend. My mate could not believe how low my fuel economy was and he remarked it betters his Ford Focus's economy. That fuel needle did not move a spot until I was driving back home! By the time I got home, it was between full and 3 quarter mark.

Now I have a new Aurion so I have yet to comment on its fuel economy cos it is still new (picked it up with zero kms - now 600 kms). I would wait until after 1,000 km mark as it should free the engine up.

    Cheers

    Dave

  4. Mate,

I picked up my new car recently for 31k driveaway in Perth here. And yes you are correct about the old bait trick. When I noticed some 2010 aurions going for 20k here with 0 kms on the clock in the newspaper ads, my 1st thought was that was no way a car was depreciated like that! I was looking at Aurion Touring at the time and luckily i had a contact within Toyota dealership in perth and she told me she has a brand new 2011 Aurion Touring in black (will update the display picture soon) so I went straight for it ignoring the 20k ones. I asked her about it on the day of inspection and she thinks those cars were recently repaired from hail storm we had 2 years ago.

    I had a look at car sales since you said something about it: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/results.aspx?eapi=2&base=1216&vertical=Car&N=904 1527 4294962861 4294889509 1216 4294739933 1246 1252&silo=Stock&Range=Price:Min,Max~0.5&sort=default

Only 5 left for the new ones or demo ones in Perth for Aurion Touring models.

    For you in Qld: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/results.aspx?base=1216&vertical=Car&eapi=2&N=4294962861%204294889509%20900%201216%201246%201252+4294739933&silo=Stock&Range=Price:Min,Max~0.5&sort=default

Now I remember QLD had floods last year which is probably why you are looking at cheap Aurions with low kms as those cars were probably repaired for resale.

  5. Are the genuine ones easier to fit?
It should be an easy fit but they cost so much money that i didn't bother getting them.

Buff is correct! I saw the pricing when I was at the dealer to get the parts on my old Aurion (headlight protector, bonnet protector which I will buy again for the new one), the parts shop had the seat cover on display and I didn't like it. I even asked if it is water proof cos I do go to beach a lot during summer and they told me they are not!

I am referring to this: http://www.toyota.com.au/aurion/accessories?WT.ac=Toyota_GlobalNav_Cars_Aurion_Accessories#item-aurion_accessories-tab-2-seat_covers

  6. Age: 36 (35 when purchased 1st aurion last year so I am on 2nd Aurion)

    Sex: Male

Status: Single but ready for a relationship with a female so any takers out there?

    Reason for Purchase:

When I 1st bought the Aurion prior to its write off, it was mainly for both fuel economyand reliability I was after. I purchased a brand new Aurion Touring SE in black just 2 weeks ago because I really missed the power of Aurion. Now I can't take the grin off my face! Even I look forward to driving the car home after work!

  7. Ah adamsy the guy i was gonna PM with over something! Ok when i get a car with virtually ZERO kms (in reality i think 2-3 kms) on the clock, what do i have to do with kms starting from scratch as it is the 1st time I have one with virtually zero kms on it? Do I baby it or do i drive normally and can i drive on freeways etc? I admit it's something i am not used to it.

  8. Never will I buy black again!

Ok mate you got me intrigued. What happened to your black car?

Actually i plan to have the car parked inside my work's car park during the day but on the weekends, it will be under car cover to protect from the bird's craps.

And has anyone with black car tried to use the car wash drive thru? I plan to do this as it has dryer therefore eliminating the need for hand drying.

If you're looking to use automated car washes, I would recommend the touchless ones which uses water jets. They are far easier on your paint job. The flipside is they are more expensive. I use the top wash for $18.

Paint protection coating is often overlooked too. I have paint protection on mine since New and lemme tell you, it does work. Less prone to scratches, swirls and keeps the shine for much much longer. I re-treat every year.

i didn't think of paint protection but i have emailed the dealer to quote me on the paint protection costs. Yes my area has touchless operations and costs me $14 for everything. I used my old car there sometimes if i am short on time to clean the car before going out.

mafia style ... looks good , especially on the showroom floor .

But up in CQ the heat is the big thing . The cabin temp seems higher (tinting the windows helps)

You must clean off any tree sap / bird crap ASAP or it will damage the clearcoat/paint very quickly .

Also black lack of any light reflection , so any little imperfections show up

    Cheers

    M

P.S We have gone silver this time ... which can have it's own problems .

As you can see in my display picture, my old car was silver and yes it does have problems. Are you talking about fading silver paint?
