  1. ive got mine secured down with velcro in the boot... just need the "non furry" side of the velcro underneath the box, and it grips very well on the boot matt.

amps are located under passenger and driver seats.. :)

Alright I need to see your car's boot Davo! Where and when do you Perth Aurion owners meet up? I was thinking of getting one next year!

    Cheers

    Davo aka DeafDave76 lol

  2. Hey guys...photos are up. Actually these are from my iPhone taken on last Friday at Central Tower Car Park (where I park for free courtesy of Wilson Parking :whistling: ).

I actually have forgotten to take photos when I was at Garvey Park on Sunday for my dad's 60th birthday. So these iPhones would have to do until I get some decent shots later.

To those that thought the colour looked gold, you are correct in fact because it came from those overhead lights. My car is actually silver ash.

I have discovered only the negative thing during Sunday...the boot hinges does intrude space. I didn't realise it until I loaded stuff in the boot. I remember reading somewhere here an Aurion owner had modded the boot hinge from gooseneck variety to something akin to fold away? I couldn't find that thread so could someone kindly point that to me?

  3. Spotted a white aurion with black wheels that had red edging. It was seen on Mitchell Freeway north coming from Perth around 12:30 to 1 am last night. I was in my friend's Honda Jazz going back to his place to get my car as I was just coming from buck's party. I am not sure what rego but my hay fever riddled eyes managed to pick out 1DLK something. So anyone know this car?

  4. Personally, I think that unless you live less than 500m from a beach (salt in the seaspray etc) , getting rustguard is probably a waste of money.

Well to be honest, I do go to the beach in summer almost every weekend barring any shark sightings. I would rather drive myself down than wait for everyone in family to come together in our van so hence the need for rustguard.

I might think I will do the paint and rust protection pack. They are from defensepak company but do I get them thru the dealer or do I go directly to the place that sells them for less than what dealer is offering? i have heard dealers earns commission for this kind of thing?

  5. Congrats Dave on the new addition. :toast:

I just upgraded from Mazda 6 to Aurion on Tuesday.....and I am very happy with it. (now just got to detail the Mazda so that I can sell it!!!)

I got a protection pack which included tinting, interior/exterior protection and rustguard with the car (from a company called autogard). Seems good so far but it's only early days, I guess we'll see how good it really is in a few years...

Look forward to seeing some pics.

    Autogard...never heard of it.

Pics will be uploaded this weekend.

  6. First, welcome to the community. Great choice. Wat colour did u pick?

Silver ash is the colour but it looks like gold under a street light.

A question...does anyone bother with paint protection or rust protection? I haven't put them on but I am thinking about it. I got defensepak tinting chucked in for free after I complained about a number of things that wasn't in the ad when I had it for a test drive. Salesperson's boss agreed to chucking that in for free.

And does anyone know if aftermarket seat covers are ok for the seats?

  7. Hey guys,

Finally after such long 12 and 4 months since the car accident which wrote off my Magna, I am now a proud new owner of the Aurion. I picked it up last night. I chose to go for Aurion because I have always been a V6 guy plus I couldn't resist the 200kw motor could I? I couldn't see myself into a 4 cyl car with exception of mum's mazda 6 which is ok car.

Photos of the car will be up soon.

For everyone asking what it is - 2010 MY10 Aurion Touring SE.

She will stay stock until warranty expires then I will mod it up to my vision. Only thing I will do is get rid of the rims when my tyres are worn out as they are a bit plain looking but otherwise it's ok.

    Cheers

    Dave

  8. IMO

my personal experiences with scarboro toyota havent been totally great.

    - sales staff were very slack once the car was signed for, pre delivery blew out, salesperson basically dissappeared off the face of the planet once we signed the papers.

-parts department is pretty poor too, their onyl saving grace is a guy there called rodney who gives good prices. but pretty much EVERYONE else there is either rude, or has a "i dont give a f.uck attitude" not mentioning any names...gary

-service dept, i wont be sending my car back there. ever. when first got the car, the car would bounce up and down all the time, had to bring it back 3 times until they finally agreed that there was a problem (other two times they tried the whole "they all do that" line) and the problem was found to be 3 buckled wheels!!! upon finding this, they attempted to weasel their way out of a warrenty claim, going by the theory that "this is the first ever case we have come accorss so therefore its NOT a warrenty case" f**k that. caused a stir and they agreed to replace all 4 steel wheels, which then took 5 weeks, yes i kid you not, FIVE weeks to arrive.

they also did not follow basic requests to NOT WASH CAR WHEN SERVICING, got car back from servcing (first service) to find it swirled to buggery and with water marks on windows. not happy.

also can never get a hire car from those chumps, even if i book weeks ahead. "sorry their all booked out"

    city toyota-

service department - excellent mechanically, had a few issues with them again not following my request to not wash the car during service, but upon bringing it up with the customer feedback, the head PR officer for city toyota personally rang me and apologized for the mix up, and then a little while later the actual mechanic who worked on my car rang to apologize again. for the level of customer service, i will definately be bringing it back for all service needs.

also have always been great in organizing a hire car for the day when my car has gone in for servicing. the service rep was like "have you ever driven a prius before? ill let you take the top of the range prius for a day instead of the camry, let me know how you like it"

parts department - havent had as much experience with city toyota althou they seem happy to offer good prices (if not better) than scarboro toyota, so will be dealing with their parts dept from now on. plus they all seem to be happier and more helpful than the grouches at scarboro.

sorry havent had much experience with the other toyota dealerships so cant offer any insight on them...

    overall -

even thou scarboro toyota is less than 10mins drive from my place, i would much much rather drive double that time to city toyota for their superior mechanical service and customer service. i wont be buying another car fro scaboro toyota, and would definately not recommend them to anyone i know.

Ok City Toyota sounds like a good place for me to service my car there because I work in CBD so I drop my car off and catch bus straight to work...free. If the servicing requires 2 days or more, I probably will ask them to give me the hire car? Also I have a chick named Tracia as my salesperson do you know her?

hey dave funny you mention the scarboro part dept. i had a good experience with them when buying my sideskirts. prices were good and were willing to lower the price even for the TRD stuff.

city toyota part dept in northbridge consistently had the cheapest price and willing to discount toobut there was one guy that was really anal and lectured me when i asked for a discount lol, the other two guys were good to me. bought most of my parts from them.

only got to service my corolla twice in my ownership. they were done at new town toyota. the service dept i had no problems with, two toca members work there. parts there are expensive though.

Hmmm new town toyota is near my place as I live in Vic Park. 2 TOCA members working there eh? Do they give you discounts for that?

As for northbridge parts place, isn't that on Aberdeen St?

try midland or maddington and tell them tracey from admin sent you and she will get $150 spotters

Um I apologise i didn't realise there is a maddington and midland car yards. The ones I listed were the big name ones!

    +1 City Toyota

Bought both of my toyotas there

Hmmm....interesting! It seems general vote is that city toyotas is the way to go for both servicing and buying new car there.

  9. Hi,

I want to know the Perth Aurion owners in W.A. who have dealt with Toyota dealers in Perth Metro areas. Recently I have been contacted by Scarb Toyota in Osborne Park for an Aurion that I am currently looking at but deciding ATM. Are they any good?

Of the ones on my list:

    Big Rock Toyota

Prosser Toyota (pretty sure I read somewhere it was a bad place for dealing or servicing)

    Welshpool New Town Toyota

    Melville Toyota

    Galleria Toyota

    City Toyota

Your answer will decide which dealer I am going for :)

    Cheers

    Dave

  10. daryl: site doesnt work...

Yeah! what are you linking to? I've just got an "Unacceptable Use/Against Policy" notification from my company for that

He linked to a site that almost caused my computer to crash! You all have been had by Daryl! Maybe you are related to Daryl Sommers after all!

  11. For those of us located on the west coast:

if you are chasing toyota genuine parts then i would highly recommend you go and see Rodney (and only Rodney) at Scarboro Toyota Parts.. he has been amazing at ordering all kinds of strange parts i have requested from him... and was even willing to source TRD parts for me if i was willing! plus he gives great prices!!

for servicing: i would recommend city toyota in northbridge... despite the fact that i insisted that they NOT wash my car on three (3) seperate occasions, and they STILL washed the car.. i will go back to them for 2 reasons

    1. they were VERY prompt to reply to my complaint that i lodged via email (called me back within a few hours) and i spoke directly to the service manager AND the mechanic who worked on my car, both offered a sincere apology and they have promised me that my car will never be washed through their dealership again unless i tell them to... time will tell if they hold on this..

    2. their mechanical service was excellent! i asked for genuine toyota full synthetic oil, they provided mobil1 full syn at the same price. car is running great, and the service was excellent. they arrange a hire car no worries (top of the wozza prius)

so given their faults, i believe their high level of customer service will definately see me back again for my next service :)

    my 2c

Interesting info on servicing for us West Coasters! If I do get Aurion in September/October, I will go to the Northbridge service centre. One question, no matter where you bought the car from, be it Welshpool (this is where I might get the aurion from hopefully)or Wangara, would it void the warranty with the dealer you bought the car from if it is not serviced at that dealer's garage?

  12. I asked for a "Drive Away" price (not best price)on the Touring, they said 39K. I thought he would have said 35K. oh well.

You should call a few more dealers. $39K drive-away is ridiculous. I paid $32,500! Just a few days ago there were plenty of deelers willing to discount the list price.

Jame here is correct. In Perth I have just seen the exact Touring SE car for just $34,500 drive away. You are paying far too much for that where $39k would net you either SX6 or prodigy (not sure which one matches the price as both are pretty close to each other as I know ATX is base model but forgot which one is 2nd and 3rd). I am not sure but I heard Touring SE combines bits of Prodigy (reverse camera with 6 cd audio and dual climate zone), Sportivo SX6 (grill and spoiler and I think side skirts plus start button??) and ATX (except the wheels, pretty much everything standard).

  13. Nope. The Aurion's engine and gearbox is definately sharper. The handling definately has more feel.

The SS definately has the power but the Aurion's just feels more urgent.

Like I said, if I didn't already have the Aurion, I would definately get the SS, but moving from the Aurion to the SS? Thats a different story.

Yep you got that right about switching up from a V6 to V8. I remember when I had the old Toyota 1980 SE-18 hatchback and I upgraded to 1991 Ford EB series 2 Falcon. It didn't feel the same. Power's there yes but the fun of driving it? It disappeared. I then upgraded from Ford Falcon after only 2 years of it ($$$ went down for its repairs hence me f***ing it off) to Mitsubishi Executive spec Magna sedan with some stuff in it that isn't standard on the normal Magna. I am talking like a switch from a 4 cyl to 6 cyl to V6. For the Mitsubishi magna, the power's there but the fun of driving it was back!

Now since the demise of the magna last year thru the accident which isn't my fault to begin with, I have been using mum's mazda 2003 model 6 classic since the accident. It was rather unnerving sensation of having to switch back to 4 cyl straight from V6! Now later this year in september time, I will be going to the only V6 on my list, Aurion Touring sedan. The rest of my list are all 4 cyl, 2 of them have direct injection engine. I will be test driving all of them sometime in August to decide which one I feel "connected" to. To be honest, the Mitsubishi Magna was the only car I felt "connected" with. In english, it was my favourite car!

  14. I want to trade my Aurion in for a Holden SS-V

The car looks pretty cool and i can be a V8 Bogan (Asian bogan i guess)

    thoughts?

Ok...for a V8 in the SS-V, I am guessing that engine will have AFM which means when not under load, the engine will shut down 4 cyclinders to save fuel economy. If anyone heard this before, Honda Accord V6 had this 1st with its VCM which shuts down 3 cyclinders when not under load before the Holden did. I recently trolled the Holden commodore thread (I am not a member there) and someone actually said it is possible to make more power with tuning on the AFM V8 engine. That was months ago so I don't know if that was true or not.

Also...as anyone said, build quality between Holden Commodores and Toyota Aurion is planets apart (think earth as aurion and mars as commodore). Fuel economy wise, a V8 drinks more than Aurion V6 by maybe 5-8 litres more even if it has AFM. Space wise, the Commodore has it. Exterior is already dated and interior as well on all Commodores. Like someone else said, an update is on the way, possibly VF so if I were you, I'd wait for it. Keep the Aurion a bit longer since your mum needs it right?

Originally the Commodore was on my list of the cars to buy but my cousin dumped his VE Commodore SV6 sedan because he is moving to Kalgoorlie as part of his new job meaning he gets a new car of his choice while in Kalgoorlie. He says the Commodore has too many parts falling apart so I hope it is not the same story for the SS-V (since the finish would be grades better)

  15. It's actually been upped to $130.

    Edit: It's also 3 years/60K. It's never been 4 years :)

I was thinking of something else never mind. And $130???? So Mitsubishi has it beat by just $10 less!

If Kazashi V6 arrive here, price will be over the top, something like $45k-50K. for small suzuki, its just wrong. Mondeo... if live in Europe and you are veeeeryyy boooring and old probably Mondeo is a way to go..

I was thinking the price you mentioned for Kisashi V6 would be the top range one. The base model would be roughly $36-39k. Yeah I know what you mean by Mondeo but I am starting to see more of these on the roads now cos Ford Falcon wagon got the chop chop!

  16. I can't comment on what the ride quality is like exactly, but I can tell you that the Touring will ride exactly the same as the AT-X. There are no suspension changes between the two, and any variation in tire/wheel size between those two grades will not be noticeable.

Ok so the wheel/tyre size are the difference but no suspension changes at all. So if i were to mod it, I would put in um the same ones as on Sportivo ZR6 with front strut bar (?)

This I can say something about. Having used both the standard A/C controls and the automatic climate control, I would say that you wouldn't really notice much difference between the two.

About the only time you will notice something different is when your passenger decides to set their temperature to something different to yours. Apart from that, the difference is just in the way you control it, which really isn't that much different. I could happily go back to the manual A/C controls without any complaints.

You might find it funny cos my mother's 2003 Mazda 6 Classic hatch does have climate control hence my asking for this question because I originally assumed all cars have different climate controls. I should have asked if Touring or ATX have rear vents to keep my passengers warm or cool.I heard the facelifted models now feature this or have I been fed bulls***? My old Mitsubishi 2002 Magna Executive sedan had manual A/C controls and had no rear vents so the passengers were either hot or cold in the back.

    [

Suzuki Kisashi V6 when/if it comes out ;), but not in the next 3-4 months lol

To be honest I thought the same thing as you but could the V6 direct injection engine have more power than an Aurion? For the size of Suzuki Kizashi, I am thinking maybe a 2.5 litre V6? But if it is a 3 litre and has more power than an Aurion, I fear everyone is gonna drop their Falcondore or Commocon or any other V6 related cars (notice I left out Aurion) go for it. For me I rather wait and see on this. A pity the V6 wasn't out yet!

at the risk of being labeled a traitor here, i would go for the suzuki if it was me :P

dont get me wrong i LOVE my aurion but if i was in your position, i would honestly be looking for a reason NOT to buy the suzuki... (depending on which model your going for thou...) had a chance to sit in one and damn, they are nice... both inside and out..

 I think I drove a Suzuki hire car back when I was in Melbourne. A Suzuki Liana or something like that. Roomy and quite zippy for a 4 cyl 2.0 litre engine. Best handling I ever had and I wasn't one bit bored with it unlike Toyota Corrolla hire car which I had in Brisbane (not the best choice for the hilly parts of Brisbane). I didn't think about Suzuki cars for years until the photos of Kisashi came out and all the sudden I am seeing it in different light. That was why it was on my list.

    1) Mazda 6 Classic hatch (newer model but may get a demo vehicle for cheap prices instead) , the sedan isnt as nice looking but supposed to be a bit quieter. A good car , noisier than an Aurion.

Well my mother has a 2003 Mazda 6 Classic hatch. I do know what you mean about the noise even if I have cochlear implant on! A hatch does look better than a sedan but the wagon does look sexier. Yeah the sedan is not nice looking at all hence the reason for people going for the hatch or wagon more. That's why I am going for 2009/2010 models (can't remember when there was an update on it)

    2) Ford Mondeo diesel Zetec wagon (pricing is unknown if I can get demo vehicle plus roomy interior) , some people in the Whirlpool forum rave about them. Possibly higher servicing costs due to being a diesel.

Yep I agree with you regarding higher servicing costs due to being a diesel but I have changed mind and decided to go for the new direct injection engine which I heard is coming out later this year (next month or August). The current Mondeo engine is pathetic to be honest and lacks pulling power to pull Mondeo's weight so I hope this new direct injection engine does better job. The reason for the wagon in both Mazda 6 Classic and Ford Mondeo Zetec is because I have 2 dogs plus i have a bicycle which I want to load it into the boot so I can drive to the park and ride around it for hours.

    3) Toyota Aurion Touring sedan (might get ATX but not that keen on it) , a good balance of power , economy , reliability and service costs.

That was the reason for me being interested in an Aurion cos of the power, economy, reliability and cheap servicing costs $120 for 4 years or 60,000kms whichever comes 1st. Hence why I am on this forum without a car (perhaps the only one here ) I really wished there was an Aurion wagon and I'd snap it up in a heart beat but eh those SUV's!

  17. Hey guys,

In about 3-4 months time, I will be buying a new car. On my list are:

Hyundai i45 sedan (got direct injection engine and betters Camry in terms of power plus 5-10 year warranty)

Suzuki Kisashi sedan(reliability plus direct injection engine)

Mitsubishi Lancer VRX sedan (driveaway cheap at 28k instead of 34k for MY10 vehicles plus 5-10 year warranty)

Mazda 6 Classic hatch (newer model but may get a demo vehicle for cheap prices instead)

Ford Mondeo diesel Zetec wagon (pricing is unknown if I can get demo vehicle plus roomy interior)

Toyota Aurion Touring sedan (might get ATX but not that keen on it)

Originally my list was to be:

Holden Commodore SV6 wagon MY10 (now dumped after hearing horror stories about parts falling apart and the fact my cousin just dumped it)

Ford Falcon FG XR6 sedan (dumped after a friend said he had problems since day 1 after he bought it new)

Mitsubishi 380 sedan (5-10 year warranty was finished so you get to have just 2 years used warranty instead and parts are not available anymore for it so dumped it)

    Toyota Aurion ATX sedan

You may notice that I have downsized to medium sized cars except for Toyota Aurion.

    Now my questions are:

What does Toyota Aurion Touring drive like? Is it heaps better than ATX?

How does the dual climate go? Any better than say ATX?

Any options on it that I should look for to make it $32 - 34 k driveway?

    Cheers

    Dave

  18. Okay...

I was coming back from Bendigo to Sunbury on Sunday afternoon and I was on the cruise control set at 110km/h. I was approaching a downhill section which the car was starting to pick up speed, as this happens the engine revs cut down due to the excess speed. However as the speed gets to around 7-10km/h over the set 110km/h speed setting, the gearbox has automatically geared back from 6th to 4th without my intervention. As a result, engine braking has occured and bought the speed back to 110km/h as set. At this point the engine braking is held until the gradient of the road levels out and the gearbox switches back to final gear.

This has happened to me since I've had the car from 2008. :)

Just thought you guys might like to know that's all.

I can confirm what he just said. When I used to drive a Mitsubishi 2002 TJ series 2 Magna sedan, I had cruise control in it. Say if I was to drive from Joondalup back to my home town which is Victoria Park, there is a dip just after Warwick Rd towards Reid Hwy, my Magna with its cruise control set to 100kmh, does the engine braking a lot early and the revs goes down a bit. Once it is back on even road, the revs go back to over 2000rpm. The magna is now gone as it got written off last year. I was set to trade it in for the Aurion later this year but no....

Currently I drive my mum's Mazda 2003 6 Classic hatch and it does the same thing as the Magna did. However on both cars, when it is on a slight incline or increasing incline, the car revs up to pull the car over it quickly. I assume the cruise control on the Aurion is the same?
