  1. I saw a white Aurion with sick looking rims in February. Dunno if he is a member on here but the rims are what you are after. Wish I took snap but I was without a phone for a month.

He had something like this one: http://blog.e-kereta.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/camry.jpg

And I saw recently a member on here when I was going thru members ride: http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/6904/42461148519908149108210.jpg He had a matching colour!

And I was about to buy one for my ex silver car prior to its write off (my current black replaces the silver): http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PKbYqXNEGrg/T8bAU6ai_0I/AAAAAAAAADU/isaBIsRqr2A/s1600/09.jpg (Alonso - if you think this car looks familar, you are right. It's a driver from W.A. and this workshop is...somewhere in either Welshpool or Morley)

  2. @deafdave.......................Straight pipes are fairly cheap to fabricate, i wouldn't pay anything more than what i did

anyways hit "Joondalup Exhaust and Brakes" - very friendly, quick, with moderate pricing

    as for the headunit........

took me ages to find one with a nice classy user interface

anyways.... i got it down from $580 something

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150974230717?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_10897wt_1397

note: 1. my unit made a 5-10mm gap between itself and the aircon vents

    2. its very hard to find a professional who willing to install it, let alone for the right price (got charged like $150 so i installed myself)

    3. all steering wheel controls are functional.

i might upload a video of the headunit interface.

For the straight pipes topic, I will give that place a go maybe later this year.

Hmmm interesting. Looks better than the other ones. And is it me or the software looks similar to the android ones?

  3. The stock suspension allows slight camber, however you will need camber bolts for more adjustment.

How much did the straight cost you..?

    $374.00

very happy with the result and price :)

Where did you get this done at this cheap price?

i'll try some day pics soon aha

yess very easy to install, right from trim removal to connecting all wires (pretty much like lego)

however i didnt connect the digital tv / reverse camera (don't need)

That's a nice lookin HU mate good job , what it set you back?

    $520

user interface is very nice compared to some other head units i came across

$520? From ebay? Which one please? And does your steering wheel volume and seek controls work?

  4. Yeah I noticed something funny when I finally double taped the dash mat to the dash to stop it moving around so much to cause the auto head lights to switch on during DAY TIME! On saturday 2nd march during long weekend (Labour Day weekend for those in W.A.), just recently, after cleaning the car inside and out and the dash too, I actually decided to turn the electrics on so i could use the auto headlight to position the mat and double tape it. Once that was done. I went for a drive in late arvo and went into the Graham Farmer fwy tunnel and noticed the headlight didn't come on at all as the tunnel was getting darker further in. It came on just after halfway thru. After driving my drunk darts team mate home cos it was his birthday on a Sunday evening, it was dusk but not yet dark enough. My parkers did come on. I wasn't aware of it until I was behind a car at lights and noticed the low beams weren't on. It came on just 10 mins after the lights!

Hmmm I will bring this up when my car goes in for service on 15th march.

  5. When I used to own a 2002 Mitsubishi Magna TJ Series 2 Executive sedan (written off in accident caused by hot uni chick), the car came with speed alert and it helps me not to get busted and never got fines with it cos while I do use cruise control, the cruise control can actually run away from you when on slight uphill or downhill.

When I later got the silver aurion (and now black aurion), the first thing I did was to find where the speed alert button was and I couldn't bloody find it! I never honestly did think to check manual so I will check it. I think it's one of the last Touring models built before the new Aurions came out

  6. True but the Presara model does have xenon/HID projectors unlike the AT-X models

He's correct. My car has Halogen projectors. Sportivo ZR6 and Presara both have HID projectors.

    ATX - Halogen

    Touring (mine) - Halogen

    Sportivo SX6 - Halogen

    Prodigy - Halogen

Sportivo ZR6 - Xenon (known as HID)

Presara - Xenon (known as HID)

  7. Gull force 10 is actually crap! Burned right thru from 20th to 27th December! And I made mistake of filling up with Caltex Vortex on 27th December (it was the only cheapest at the time) and burnt thru the fuel in bloody 5 days! I filled up with Shell V-Power on 2nd January and still got 3 quarters of fuel in it. I will be using Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate from now on.

Oh those burn thrus....didn't happen with flat footing cos it was double demerits during that time. I was grannying it! I think it was the quality of fuel in both Gull and Caltex!

And the air pressure remained the same!

  8. Was talking to a family member today and they claim they saw an aurion (not sure if TRD) with a bonnet bulge on it at the casino. ive always been curious to see what this would look like. The TRDs definitely deserve one.

Anyone ever seen this done before, please post pics.

Oh and the car was spotted in perth, so perth members may have come across it ??

I am from Perth and I haven't seen that car yet. I will keep an eye out on that.

BTW I think this is what your talking about: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/25854-bonnet-scoop/

  9. I have owned my 2007 Prodigy since new. In the last 6 months I have stalled the engine 3 times by attempting to drive off with park brake on. I try to start the car and it runs for a few seconds then stalls at idle without any load. The only way to get it going again is by leaving it for 5 minutes and then it starts fine again. In the old days with carburetor engine cars, if the engine was flooded you would keep your foot flat to the boards, crank the engine and it would start. Why is this all of a sudden happening and what is the best way to start a modern engine, assuming it has stalled and flooded?

I am sorry to ask you this but how did you manage to drive off with parking brake on? You didn't notice the brake light icon until later?

It is possible you may have burnt something out in the electronics due to you flooring to get the car moving because of the parking brake was left on.

  10. Now my car is 6 months old with 5,500 kms on the clock (from 0 kms in June when I bought it to now). I fill up every 3 weeks and that's for around the town with stop start traffic.

Last month I looked other day, while on a cruise from Victoria Park to Rockingham with my mum and my grandmother (mum's mother) on board, I actually reached 7.1 km per 100 litre again.

And yes I have been using 98 fuels from BP Ultimate or Shell V-Power as both seem to offer better returns and lasts longer than bloody Caltex Vortex 98 (don't know what's wrong with this fuel as it seems to burn more faster than other 2 fuels!) Right now I am trialling Gull's new 98 fuel called Gull Force 10 *google it*. So far since last Wednesday's fill up, I have used just under a quarter of tank with over 3 quarters of tank to go thru.

I haven't been grannying it if that's what your wondering. It's to do wiht tyre pressures. I will recheck my tyre pressures on the next one and refill the air in the tyres.

  11. Man I wish our Aurions had those rear tail lights plus lower bar. If they were on the Aurion, I would buy it in a heart beat! But the current look on the newly released Aurions still leaves sour taste to me.

  12. In my Touring, I do have 6 speakers, which I counted myself. That is correct as per the website.

Maitland Toyota is having you on: http://www.toyota.com.au/aurion/features/audio-and-navigation/speakers

From that photo, you should have gotten a rear panel looking like the one in the picture. From your photos, it is plain obvious that it was a SX6 set up.

A ZR6 should have got subwoofter centrally mounted where the X is in the photo.

  13. Hi Dave,

I get letters too from my Toyota dealership that don't match what is on the sticker, I called them and they told me that the services are to do with whatever comes first be it the month or kilometres, I told them what the sticker said and they told me that the mechanics sometimes put the wrong dates or kilometers on them because they service so many different cars that they sometimes can't remember how long it is between services. I had a 2003 Camry 4cyl and when the new shape came out with the same motor they service time and k's where different. Something to do with the oil or that cars go longer between services because of all the electronic stuff that monitors if anything goes wrong, like if the 'check' light comes on from the ECU telling you to contact toyota because the computer has picked up something in one of it's sensors that is not right.

Would give them a call and ask why, I got mine new in 2010, I have only done 16500km but it has to be serviced within three months of the date they specify or the kilometers or your warranty get voided, but check with them to be sure and see what they have to say, I know it's a warranty issue if you don't get the regular services done.

    Cheers

You got it right the mechanics were making mistakes. I left an email message to scarborough toyota and they got back to me within 20 mins saying the sticker is wrong. My initial service is actually in April 2013 or 15,000 kms whichever comes first!

At least I am happy I won't have to spend the x-mas money on unnecessary service.

  14. HI,

Twice I have received a letter from Toyota Scarborough reminding me that my car needed its 15,000km service. I was like "that's ridiculous!". My sticker does say 15,000 km and November which is this month.

But here's the kicker.....my car only just done 4,500 kms since I picked it up from 0 kms in June. So the question is...do I follow the month or do i follow the 15,000 km?

I remember reading somewhere that most people go for kms regardless wherein the 3 year warranty and some go for the month the service is needed.

So...without further ado...what's your take on this? Remember I am on my 2nd Aurion but totally brand new, starting from zero kms.

    Cheers

    Dave

  15. Hey DeafDave76, everytime I went up to Lancelin I always stopped over at LJ's Fish & Chips and have their fisherman's basket. Very generous portions and nicely fried not drowned in oil like a lot of places. Biggest damn battered scallops, oysters and mussels I ever sawed! This was a few years ago though. Not even sure if they're still in business anymore.

From memory, you should be right re: Kangaroos. At one stage I was going up and down that way once a week and I never saw any roos/emus. Plenty of foxes though.

Hmm the funny thing is the last time I went to Lancelin was way way back in 1998! Back then it was just a few shanties and some houses with just one fish and chips shop (which I think is the same one you are talking about) and a pub and a motel and small deli. When I looked at Google Map the other day to plan my route, I was like WTF? They went from that to what it is now. Now it has a major shopping centre but on smaller scale (think either coles or woolies), have another pub and 3 different resorts. The motel isn't there anymore. I think the 2nd pub replaced that motel i stayed at. There are more houses this time and no shanties left.

Yeah you are right about foxes. That much I remember seeing a lot of them dead ones on Wanneroo Rd. I can't recall seeing emus LOL.
