  1. This may sound stupid but can aftermarket coilovers be set to the stock height or near it so no scraping occurs?

      depends on the brand, as some have different height tolerances. but you need to leave a specific amount of thread remaining in the strut body, so it might still sit a little lower

      Generally yes, they should have enough tread to run at OEM or near OEM height. Check specs of the coil overs and they will tell you minimums, maximums etc...
