  1. Hi Evana, There is some information in this thread as well: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19417
  2. Nimrodaus, I was thinking of trying the Nulon Synthetic in my Kluger after I run it in; I've heard some good things about it and it doesn't seem too expensive.... it also comes in 6L bottles; the Kluger's take over 6L of oil! Is this the first oil change in your car using full synthetic oil? and how many KM is there on your engine? I don't think there is anything wrong with any of the full synthetic oils (I've used Castrol Edge in the past too); and what determines one is good and not good anyway? our Klugers aren't race cars where every kw counts, and in any case any of the synthetic oils will lubricate better than what the factory puts in which will likely be a mineral or semi synthetic :) let us know how it goes.
  3. Good to hear... let us know of any updates B) I knew about the facelift too but didn't want to wait so long and got one just a few weeks ago :)
  4. I think if your engine oil is coming out as clear as when you put it in, then the oil is not doing its job. The oil filter picks up the larger carbon deposits and metal shavings (from engine wear) but there are plenty of fine particles that will pass through the filter. A good oil should act as a carrier of these fine deposits, which should come out when you do your oil change, otherwise it means its still in your engine. I've religiously changed oil every 5000km in my cars, and I've used a variety of synthetic oils including some very expensive ones. I have never had an oil change that has not come out dark brown or blackish. These are cars that myself or my family have owned since new and have less than 100,000km on the engine. Also I'm just wondering, whats made you have such a bad opinion about Castrol?
  5. Cookie, where was the car aligned? and do you have the alignment sheet print out? have you checked to see if it is within the specs in the user manual? I've noticed that there have been a couple of mentions of the outer edge of the left tyre having excessive wear. is this a common issue for the Kluger? Have you guys been off road in the car? or perhaps ran up a kerb before? Any possibility of suspension damage? I'm just wondering if the static alignment is within spec, is it possible that the suspension is causing excessive toe in during compression caused by a damaged suspension component?
  6. Hi Guys, I've had the Kluger for 2 weeks now and love it! I can't remember how much the Toyota nudge bar was but vaguely remember it being in the vicinity of $700? (can anyone confirm this?). What are my other options in terms of aftermarket but OEM style nudge bars? Has anyone had any experience with the OZnest item from ebay? If so, how is the fitting compared to the genuine part? It looks like the Toyota bar is a mirror finish but the Oznest one is an unpolished finish. The Oznest one is around $300 odd... any other aftermarket ones to consider? I was looking at ARB but they only seem to make a deluxe bar for the Kluger. Thanks, Chris
  7. I got a call back from the dealer, and as expected I will have to take it in for them to look at. He said these are genuine Toyota sensors though so are covered by the manufacturer warranty. This means I can also have it looked at by any dealer.
  8. Hi.. thanks for checking it up for me.. I'm going to try calling the dealer again today.. they didn't return my call yesterday!
  9. ok thanks.. Mine are definately not hooked to the rear speakers. I couldn't find the module at first and got my wife to keep the car in reverse while I listened around for it; it was only then that I found it behind the plastic trim. I shook the module around and it seemed to get a little louder.. I could perhaps have a faulty unit. But now that I think about it, I remember the kluger I test drove had reverse sensors too and I could barely hear that one as well I've called the dealer, everyone was busy so I'm waiting for someone to call me back. My only problem is.. I paid $495 for these reverse sensors and they just don't work well at all. Edit: Do you guys know what brand the Toyota sensors are?
  10. Hey Guys. Just picked up my Kluger on the weekend :) We had reverse sensors fitted at the factory and so far have found them to be pretty ordinary. In my parent's car (a Honda Accord), the factory reverse sensor had wiring up to the rear view mirror that had a display showing the distance to the object. It also beeps loudly. The unit fitted in our Kluger doesn't work very well. All I got was some module the size of a tweeter speaker in the boot behind the plastic trim. Its stuck onto the body of the car with velcro. The problem is, I can't hear it, even when I removed the trim piece and adjusted it to loudest (it was already on loudest), I have to turn down the music and even then I have to try very hard to hear the reverse beep. The beeping also seems to be slow to react, unless you are moving at a snails pace, you can't rely on it. I tried reversing into something very slowly and when I looked back was shocked that I had almost hit what was behind me. Is this normal? and is this the Toyota reverse sensor fitted to all cars with the option? Chris
  11. I ended up getting the anti rust option. I usually never opt in for these options, but I figured there is a chance that I will hit the beach and I may not clean all the nooks and crannies thoroughly, so for $400 odd, it will give me peace of mind.
  12. Hi Guys... Placed a deposit on a Kluger yesterday One of the options that the dealer offered me was a product from Protech, underbody rust proofing. I'm assuming its that black goop they spray on. Apparently it helds shield out road noise too, so I'm guessing its pretty heavy stuff (I'm trying not to add on extra weight to the car!). Life time warranty, and they recommend it is good if you go off road. Around $400... what do you guys reckon? My car is going to spend nearly all of its life in the city, however I may occasionally take it offroad if we go camping, or maybe onto the beach. Both of these situations will be quite infrequent.
  13. Hi Guys, I ended placing a deposit on an AWD Altitude today I added Mats, cargo mat, reverse sensor and tow bar (had to pay for these). The budget didn't stretch to the side steps and nudge bar, although I really wanted those. Can't wait to pick it up!
  14. Yep. I'm considering getting the side steps + tow bar, I also noticed the rear cargo plastic rubber mat. Still searching for an AWD Altitude. The price seems to be *just* out of reach for me right now. If I can find a good deal I will buy it. :)
  15. Hi, As I'm looking to get the Altitude, I was comparing its specs with the KX-R on the toyota webpage. I noticed that the KX-R has Underbody protection for the engine and transfer case where as the Altitude doesn't. What does this underbody protection? is it merely some plastic shielding? or is it some proper bash plates for offroading? I will probably be adding front and rear sensors; are there any other accessories you guys recommend? How much are the side steps worth? thanks :) Chris
  16. Are the Altitude extras something that are done in the factory or are they goodies added locally? I *think* the altitude has all the extras fitted locally. I've been told it is a special edition for a limited time only. Putting two and two together, I reckon it is to clear out old stock to make way for the facelifted model that is coming in July. I'm looking for an Altitude this weekend :)
