  1. Holy moley! I was wondering if I should change from OEM oil to something better... :D So most you guys are like castrol 5w-30, a few who go for the OEM 15w-40? I think I'll give the castrol a go at the 20k km service...?
  2. I think mick.wheels has a point... for adding on a turbo/supercharger what type of work would I be looking at to bring the internals up to scratch (specifically for a supercharger in a 2010 ascent)? And robie, that's sir is a very valid point. I did not think of that...
  3. Very interesting isn't it?! :D. :o I didn't know they hadn't been released yet! :( But yes, Hiro's right; it's not uber drastic but I think it'll help free up a few more revs, and if you have your headers and extractors done then I think revving past the 6500 mark might get a little more out of it. I don't know if it'll work, but I'm damn sure keen and ready to be the first to take my skirt off to try this one
  4. Lol I didn't know anything about it at all until I started to search up about the 2ZR-FE, which lead to the FAE. It seems like an adventure I think hahaha :P This idea arose from a car my friend saw at autosalon; it was a nissan (can't remember what model) but basically there was a turbo model, and a non-turbo model except it had the nissan lift control technology, and basically the just took the head of that engine (it may have been an RB engine, not fully sure/can't remember) and they put it on the turbo engine and made a very considerable performance improvement :D I found this video on youtube after a quick search: Also, that's basically what it says on wiki, though I suppose wiki isn't the most reliable source... But yeah from the looks of things I think it'll work. Then again, it could all be fantasy once I discuss it with my friend down at toyota after exam. *FINGERS CROSSED THAT IT'S POSSIBLE*
  5. Hey guys, so after some research I found that the jap-spec auris has the 2ZR-FAE and ofcourse our aussie spec ones have the 2ZR-FE. The FAE has the valvematic technology and I was wondering if we could put the FAE head on the FE and swap the ECU aswell and have a 1.8L corolla with toyota's version of V-tec? This is part of my "sleeper killer corolla"... your thoughts peeps? Cheers, Senna.
  6. Hey dutchie, do you think these sway bars and strut brace fit on my 2010 ascent? I wasn't sure if the facelift corolla was different to yours :S
  7. So totally aced biology, completely screwed in chemistry... and all I can think about is my 'rolla! :D

Hahaha I'm looking for some good coilovers actually... do you know of any good ones?

Pedders coilovers have been a big fav with the zres, others have opted with Bilsteins, Buddyclub, Tanabe. I'll most likely go pedders next year for their 2yr australia wide warranty. And the guys that went with pedders are pretty happy

Fair point hey, they are about $2K though aren't they?

I'm looking to do some serious upheavals with the corolla so I want to have like moderately serious suspension... I've heard Pedders are good too so thanks for confirming it :).

2year warranty sounds good to me! :P

  8. Mate you read my mind; I'm going headers, full exhaust, CAI and S/C, but I'm going to go further with a little stroker kit, and maybe I'll even get the head off the 2ZR-FAE and get some added lift with the valvematic system they got going on them ;) What do you think? Also, lol I'm going to replace the clutch later on to a harder stronger one.. hahaha I want to go tracking though, haven't been there yet :D And finally, yeah the ride hight is good for mountains and elk lol, but with your guys' help I'll be wanting to get some proper suspension going too! Cheers bud!
  9. It's awesome :D And YES! Jeezus the number speed traps there are around my place is rediculous! I live in an area where there are long straights where you can see literally 1 and a half kilometers away but it's all 60 and 70 zones... Cops need to make there money I guess... pfft.
  10. Hey everyone! So I finally got round to joining my first car forum (following buying my first car :D)! Currently I'm driving a 2010 Corolla Ascent. A few things I like about it: - very comfortable - looks nice - sounds beefy for a 1.8L - police haven't even looked at me (sort of a big deal being a p-plater, and the only one out of my friends who hasn't crashed/had any fine/lost licence/ever been pulled over at all - pretty proud of myself :P) A few things I dislike: - rear windows are not electric - clutch is a bit light - I'd rather the car was lowered and I had less tyre profile (aesthetics and the "sporty" handling) - if only it made a few more horses... :P So I suppose you guys will be the people who'll hear and see all about the transformations planned for the 'Rolla' over the next few years :D Cheers guys!
  11. LOL Why won't it let me edit my profile? Hahaha

  12. :D Someone's a clever cookie!

I have very VERY big plans... I'm only 18 and like poor as... but 2-3 years bud, it'll be much quicker than the stock 2ZR-FE that it has :P

  13. Who loves their Corolla? *raises hand*
