  1. Hey guys. Back on the forums after an extended break with other models. Glad my username still works Onto my 3rd Corolla now and could be happier so far! Can't beat economy! Its a 2000 model sedan, 1.8L auto in a sedan shape, not the hatch! 77,000 on the clock, and the old girl I got it from even made me lunch! (country hospitality ) Picked it up from a chilly Southern NSW and drove it back to Brisbane. No plans for it, except to keep it running in tip top knick, but I'm sure I'll modify something, its still got a tape player so that has got to go haha. Anyway 15 hours later I arrived home. Heres a quick pic, and also one of the soup ha ha! Look forward to getting back into it all here. Cheers Callum
  2. Drove my new (old) 1987 Corolla the 700km home from Sydney today. While it was running didn't miss a beat, stoked. Stopped in for fuel and shut the engine off, when I went to start it again nothing, like nothing at all. Turn the key one click, stereo comes on, next click, fan and gauges, next one to start the car, stereo, fan etc drop out and the starter does not engage (can't even here the bendix moving at all) Interestingly also the cabin light dims, almost as if the starter motor is drawing a huge load and sucking all the juice from other parts of the car. Anyway, call NRMA, they arrive half an hour later. Test my battery, test comes back good, and was showing over 13+V He went to the car, and started it straight away without any issue, kicked over first go Oh how silly did I look and continued on my way. When I got home tried to replicate it again, but it just kicked over basically straight away without issue. Any suggestions on where to start looking? I really don't want to get caught out with this, Basically have ruled out the alternator due to it only doing this when the car has been running for some time, car started perfectly at 4am this morning first kick so the battery is definitely being charged Bad ground? Bad starter? Heat expansion making the starter work harder? Bad connection?
  3. Spotted around Airport area: Black 07+ Corolla with Black wheels NSW Rego: BJ24AK Car looks mint!
  4. Hey guys, Flew into Sydney last night after work, after a train ride out to West, picked up my new (old) car! Its a 1987 Toyota Corolla (AE80?) and it is mint! 5 speed manual 150,000 on the clock, full log books, everything! Original hub caps, trims, etc The interior is spotless, the paint is basically brand new apart from a few little specks of rust near the fuel door. The only mods are tint, a new headunit and floor mats Picked him up for $1000 with 8 months rego basically Oh and no power steering or air con, but who needs that! Oh Oh OH and its a carby engine! Such a classic old car with all the mod cons from last century On the drive home the windscreen wipers weren't working? But funnily enough worked perfectly today. So its basically in perfect condition and hopefully will be a good car for me to commute to work in Anyway here are some pics, might try and make it to the meet in Sydney tomorrow night but I'll see how i go.
  5. Alrighty, I might rock up. I'll be in a Suzi Swift though so don't hate ;)
  6. Is anyone possibly cruising back to Newcastle tomorrow night? :) I might be able to make an appearance! Woooh All be it in a Swift (hope thats okay?)
  7. Lenso Type M Red Lip Rims - 5 Stud 17 x 7.0 fitment. These rims are in OK condition, have a few gutter marks. Would take nothing to clean them up though. They look a bit dirty in the picture below, will need a quick wash and they will look great. 2 tyres are good, 2 will need replacing. Only reason I'm selling is it turns out they dont fit my car so need them gone by tomorrow! (I live in Byron Bay & am currently in Sydney) I will drop these anywhere in Sydney tomorrow or anywhere along the Pacific Highway on Sunday afternoon. Grab yourself a bargain!!! Need these gone guys, great looking wheels. I'm paying $1100 for a brand new set that fits my car tomorrow, so $300 is a steal. Phone or Text tonight - 0431 538 289 or callumogrady@gmail.com Thanks
  8. trying to get those reflector things out of the headlight is near impossible!

  9. i saw this car first hand today, its almost a jdm wagon with all the aftermarket gear :P looks so nice in person too, top job on the ride!
  10. Blaaaaaaaaaack, everyone has white :) I don't understand about black being harder to clean? The dirt wouldn't show up as much as it would on a white car? :P
  11. I'm pretty sure mine has that too! But what would control them in the cabin? Like dedicated switches (like in Euro cars) or just automatically turn on with the headlights? Might be easier to just power them up from the battery and add a switch?
  12. I love em, not that keen on chrome, but for $280 im pretty stoked, when i saw them i just handed my cash over right away. All in perfect condition except for slight gutter rash on one, but apart from that, mint. There was no problem! The sale included wheel bolts (euro) not nuts which is what threw me at first. My mechanic said they wouldn't fit due to not being enough stud, and honestly it didn't look like there was any there at all. Problem being there is a taper and made it look like nothing was there. Got some of those hex head bolts from a specialty wheel shop ($40 for 16 ) and they fit absolutely perfect with plenty of turns and thread I'm stoked, just need to clean the wheels up a bit with some polish and good to go
  13. I honestly don't know, how do I find it? Got em off eBay, they were like brand new with 80% tread. Talked him down to $280
  14. photos up! rides section

  15. Borrow'd a mates 1000D (my 40D sutter failure) to get some snaps of the new wheels. Weather was overcast and the shoot only lasted about 10 minutes before it was just too wet. Got a few decent shots in the limited time though and am extremely happy with the car. Didn't clean the car or the wheels beforehand, so there may be traces of dirt :P Major Mods include: - DVD/MP3/CD HU - Sportivo Axle Back Exhaust - Removed Trim - Colour Coded Door Handles - 17' Wheels - HID's Here some pictures Stock Modified Wheels
  16. new wheels, steering wheel is wobbly and tyres making a helicopter noise. time for a new balance & alignment?

  17. Got a mate over today who knows a fair bit about cars. He pointed out that the rims are tapered inside, and that there was plenty of stud there it just didn't look like it. An hour later, $40, I have 16 new tapered wheel studs that are hex head. FINGERS CROSSED TOMORROW You guys will be the first to know
  18. Always loved the look of the 2 'coupe' corolla's in the UK. Wish they'd bring them over to Australia!
  19. Is installing longer wheel studs even worth my effort? I was really happy with the wheels until i realized this stupid mistake New hubcentric wheel spacers got me thinking, with long studs, but they'd be probably $300 for the set. Apparently they were from a Barina juvenile, but being BSA I thought they would fit too, but nope, hardly any wheel stud poking through. Which I'm assuming uses bolts instead of nuts.
  20. Its not something I'm after at the moment, but just checking if there was anything like it that anyone had seen, that you could get say for $100 and just get it welded inline your exhaust system somewhere. But I'm doing design and technology and thought maybe I could manufacture something on the cheap to install :D Will see how I go with it. Probably won't have a remote control though :P
  21. hey mate. just so you know this is the stock sportivo exhaust piping not aftermarket i noticed you have a Sportivo, it will be the exact same sizing. Cheers
  22. did anyone watch who wants to be a millionaire? the block contestants won $2,500 for charity before they were all eliminated haha. Eddy had to bump it up to 10k it was that embarrassing.
