  1. how do i remove the snorkel, a member showed me b4, but i forgot how, do i just remove the soft pipe, or remove the soft pipe and also the hard 'box' as well???

sorry to hijack your thread dude

Firstly it is easier if you remove the battery first. the Snorkel is attached in three places where it connects into the airbox itself, and also by two screws/bolts. Start by removing the two screws/bolts that attach it to the chassis. To remove it from the airbox - open up the airbox by releasing the spring clips and remove the air filter. You will now see the snorkel - you should be able to see the plastic lugs that hold it in - squeeze the sides of the snorkel in and push it out - it comes free without too much effort. Then it is a matter of massaging the whole snaking intake runner free - from memory pull it forward towards the front of the car. As I mentioned in the previous tread if you want to leave the snorkel there - just disconnect it from the airbox - make sure you push it clear so as not to obstruct the airbox opening (that way you can just push it back to return it to stock). sorry I don't have pic's but it is really simple when you have the car in front of you and you don't have to be mechanically minded to do it. I have done a few so PM me if you want help

Or if you have a 1ZZ just remove the intake resonator (the white box), this alone increases power and response slightly as it removes the bottleneck as well as allowing cool air from where the foggies are to enter the intake ;)

  2. Tip #1... Don't get Vista... It's just a complete Microsoft rout...

all software that is installed on it MUST be Microsoft certified... what a load of bollocks!!!

    What a crock!

I'm sure some whiz bang coder somewhere will hack this sooner or later (if they haven't already)... Microsoft is just asking for it!

  3. Hey all I'd thought I would start a thread on handy Windows Hints and Tips as we all know good old Bill Gates couldn't get everything right.

    OK I'll start it off:

If you get that annoying welcome screen before you go into Windows where you have to click on an account even though you only have one user then this is how to get rid of it (o by the way it is to do with the .Net framework which creates a hidden user)

  4. yeah!!bargain!but will it be easy to install since its an aftermarket?im interested too!!count me in!

See my above post (post no. 27)

ahh nooo....but its still possble to install rite? hehe...its a bargain.cant take my mind off the price! haha...

Yea just a hug PIA but for $140 you'll b able to up up with the headaches... Anyways maybe I just had really bad luck!

  5. Unofficially:

*Computer and audio visual technician (for the family and work mates  )

*Know a lot of information about cars (esp. ZZE Corolla's (as do most people on here) as well as Holden's). But I'm not the best at hands on modifications (I'm a bit unco. ) although I've done a few.

    Officially:

*Studying part time uni (B. Business - Accounting and Finance)

*Working full time for an accounting firm. I specialise in Business Owner and Corporate Assurance Services at the moment although hope to move into Corporate Finance or Wealth Investment Management in the future.

  6. Comes with a LSD, nice.

Any photos of the 3 door version? That 5 door from Xoom's link look very nice :D

*fingers crossed* for this coming down under the TRD brand!

    No thanks I'd rather the 3.5L V6 Corolla (2GR-FE)

Much more potential... I would buy it and swap the components from the 2GR-FZE and throw in a turbocharger... Like what everyone useto do with the 4A-GZE's :) :) :) ;) ;) ;)

  7. a few of my mates are mainly buying it for the blue ray, only other blue ray player out that i know of is the $1500 samsung, so $1000 isnt that bad.

Plus EB games are doing trade-ins, 1 sony 2 or x-box plus 20 games and they'll drop the price to $699

    Tempting!

    hang on.. confirm for me.

    1 PS2 or x-box with 20 games?

    or

    1 PS2 with 20 games or x-box with 20 games???

Either one with 20 games and you get the PS3 for $699. thats what there offering at Frankston EB Games, im guessing the other stores are the same.

For a PS2 with 20 games you would have probably originally paid $400 for the PS2 and $800 for the games (if not more), bringing it to around $1200... and your happy that they'll knock $300 of the price??? WTF

  8. Lucky your alright man. My mum did something similar once. She was driving and was trying to get rid of a huge bush fly looking thing and ended up on the other side of the road n hit a car. Thank *** it was a 4WD rodeo ute n we bounced off his front wheel n tyre (no damage to his car but a bit to hers (which is now my car)).

Moral is concentrate on the road!

  9. Hi all,

After searching the forum fairly extensively, I've noticed:

    1) Most airflow topics are on CAIs

    2) There is some confused debate about panel filters

I appreciate that if one is going to spend over $150-odd on a panel filter that they are better off getting a CAI, BUT what if one does not want to?

So, I open this thread to the panel filter debate.

First off we have our stock-standard Toyota paper filter. Does the job, over $100 to replace.

Secondly we have the TRD filter. Difficult to see when it is dirty, and still appears to be a red-coloured paper filter.

Third welcomes the 2252 K+N oil panel filter. According to a doody-jim mechanic at toyota, oil filters are not the greatest as the suction from the engine is capable of sucking some of the oil into the engine. He highly recommended a dry filter.

Fourth, which I found on eBay, is the Trust Airinx II filter. Very cheap, but does anyone know what its filtration is like?

Fifth... well, you'll have to tell me. I only know about the first four!

Six: As some would say - Panel filters are a waster of time. Do everything else, from CAI to porting headers, and talking to mazda boys about dump pipes... :P

    I await your expertise!

I've got a K&N Panel Filter (2nd hand for $50) on an auto 1ZZ. At first I didn't notice much difference, but after a while (the ECU must have adjusted) and removing the intake res. I noticed a more free flowing feeling as well as a substantial increase in mid range pull (around 4000rpm is awesome) plus u get a bit nicer intake noise. I've heard ppl say that these oil filters can block the MAF sensor but I reckon its the same as getting an SRI or CAI with a conical oiled filter (but I plan to clean the MAF once every yr anyway so hopefully no damage will be done).

On another note I've heard alot of ppl boasting about the ITG panel filter (which is the dry type) except for the fact that they have to cut it a bit to fit or put all there weight on it to get it to sit in there. Also u should note that there are two types of TRD panel filters, one of which is dry one of which is oiled.

So in conclusion there is a large variety available so I reckon just get watever u can 2nd hand cheap as they r all prob. better than stock. O n keep searching on the forum as there are a few other posts dealing with this issue.

  10. Hey Klara put around 4-6 boxes of beer in ur boot (or somethin that weighs alot in ur boot for a few weeeks that should even it out)... Also may I ask how much u payed for pedders lowering (u can PM if u dont wanna post it)... Thanks :)

  11. they are not cheap tho... $39 each posted, and $45 for the 'Z Aerotourer'

just last week i sourced for a member here the front grill Z badge for $30.50 posted from japan. quite a good price for a part that is not commonly available back home.

Yep he did :D Thanks kcorro it arrived the other day! (sorry I havnt PM'd I've bin busy with work n uni)
