  1. I have a similar problem with my Gen5.5 as well, it's parked in a multi level apartment car park which I guess is half open since you can't excatly close the "windows". I hardly have a use for the washer as I try to keep my car clean with a monthly washing schedule, but whenever I have a use for it, it always seemed to be blocked. Each time I take it for a service they'll unblock it for me... then in a few months time when I need to use it again because some bird decides my windscreen is their toliet... it's blocked again!!! Now I just carry a spare bottle of water in the boot for these occassions.
  2. Hi {{HoTtWaXx}}, I'll pm you the photo. Credit goes to STYLSH who supplied the photo in the first place and helped me a lot when I was asking around about the custom Y Pipe. Performance wise, I haven't done any dyno's so I couldn't say it as a fact. But I do feel the car pulling harder and revs up a lot smoother. I've got a Gen5.5 btw. Worth every $ that I've spent!!
  3. I've got a custom Y-Pipe done a few months back and from memory it's around $400. I see you're in Melbourne, I got mine done at Carnegie Muffler & Brake which was recommended to me by some other forum members here as well. Highly recommended, owner very patient with a noob like me who know nothing about mods.
  4. Hey, sorry been busy with work lately haven't checked the forums as often as I used to. Well, I haven't done a before and after dyno so I can't really speak with any scientific backing. But the general feel is that the engine revs up quicker through the entire range and I felt the majority of the gain is roughly at 5k RPM. IMO it's definately worth what it costed.
  5. Oh, I certainly didn't know that either! Thanks for the update, but I've already got the stock Sportivo muffler ;) together with a y-pipe upgrade I guess most of the gains I am feeling would be from the y-pipe :P The Camry does sound a bit different once I go past 5k RPM, not sure if that's due to the y-pipe or muffler, should have done a staged upgrade rather than doing them both!!
  6. Blind Kid Seeks - Hahaha.... Wasn't really thinking of discounts. Was more thinking of if anyone is a regular customer they might get a discount / in the good books with the shop ;) Then again you normally wouldn't need exhaust work that often :P Guni - Ahh... So another happy customer :) I'll be sure to check them out! Thanks everyone that helped out! Hopefully everything will go well and I'll learn something new from this experience!!
  7. Blind Kid Seeks - Thanks! Will add them to my list of places to visit. Anyone has any further suggestion (might get 3 prices to compare) or if anyone wants me to mention their names when I go ;) I'm more than happy to do that. Thanks!
  8. dannywss - Understand it can be done in lots of places. Just don't want to end up in a dodgy joint that's going to rip off a n00b like me. Wanting inputs from ppl who has had positive experience in particular places. Silly-Karr - Thanks, will be sure to check them out first :) Anyone else have any further recommendations? Thanks.
  9. Hi All, Can someone recommend a reputable exhaust shop in Melbourne that I can get a custom Y-pipe manufactured and installed on my Gen5.5 Camry? Close to the CBD / inner suburbs would be preferable but am willing to travel too :) Bear in mind that I'm a total n00b when it comes to cars so I'm a bit worried that if I just go to "anyone" they'll immediately sense that I'm a n00b and being to tell me I have to do things that I don't need to! Thanks heaps in advance.
  10. Thanks RelishGTP, for the part code, I shall ring up the dealer and confirm :) Much appreciated. Yes I've heard that before too Whip Cracker, I shall perform that "upgrade" next ;)
  11. Hi lateralus, hm... really? I did ask a mate if I could notice 4kW increase and he's told me it should add noticeable diff and that a few hundres for 4kW is worth it? I don't really want to do any serious mods to it, especially anything that involved touching the engine etc. In your opinion how much power increase would you need to be noticed? Appreciate your experience on this, keep them coming!! :)
  12. Hi fellow helpful forum members :) Ok I've rang 3 different Toyota dealers and they all quoted similar prices in the $3xx range so I might to back to where I purcahsed the car from. One weird thing tho, 1 place quoted me from what I requested which is a "2005 Camry Sportivo V6 Muffler". The other 2 places both asked me for a chasis number to confirm this because there's some variations? Do you know what they're talking about here? Not having a Sportivo obviously means I won't have the chasis number! Can I just get "ANY" one that fits the description above?
  13. Thanks everyone for your sound advice! Will give Toyota service a call when I have a moment, hope I could spare a moment today! Tuesday is always meeting frenzy day :(
  14. Thanks for the quick response :) Hmm... So you used to be able to get them OEM? I didn't know that! Should have asked this question earlier ;) Could I say go to a wreckers find a written off Sportivo and ask for the muffler to be cut off? ;) I imagine there's no "electronic" variable flow control devices in these "simple" mufflers :) Would I be able to achieve similar power gains with an aftermarket muffler?
  15. Hi all, I currently own a stock 2005 Altise V6, haven't changed anything on it except for a set of 17s. I've read somewhere (a little while ago) that the reason why the Sportivo from the same year has 145kW instead of 141kW is due to a low restriction exhaust? Been thinking of the idea of upgrading the exhaust to give me that additional 4kW? Being a total noob to cars, I'm wondering if simply changing the muffler would be sufficient? Or does the entire exhaust system needs upgrading? Finally how much do you reckons it's going to be approximately including labour? Are people actually going to feel the 4kW? Thanks in advance!
  16. Just BYO synth oil if you're concerned with same rating as the manual. I've always BYO oil for my Camry.
  17. Is this a Toyota dealer? I thought Toyota dealers always used Castro?
  18. Thanks everyone for the advice! Will definately get it done every 10,000km now!! Probably every 15,000km since the service interval is 7,500km. The little paint trick sounds good :) never thought of that or just keep an eye on them when it sit there and wait :)
  19. Yer those mobile come to you paint fix guys should be good. I've got a quote once for fixing a key scratch for $200 from memory. I've always been careful about where I park, finding corner spots with walls / poles around me so people can't park next to me. Or park next to Mercs / BMWs ;) Not 100% fool proof but I guess should minimise risk.
  20. Have an 05 V6, drinks roughly 10L/100KM on probably 99% city driving. I've always used 95/98RON fuel ever since I got her tho, not that it makes too much difference to economy I guess.
  21. Hi All, Got a set of new rims + tyre set for my Camry a little while ago from Beaurepairs. When I got them they gave me this little service booklet (similar to your car servicing booklet). It's got battery checks / wheel balance / rotation (if require) etc written on it. Just wondering if it's worth it sticking to that schedule? Does a wheel need to be regularily balanced?? As for rotation I suppose I can get Toyota to do it when I get it serviced and would they balance it when they rotate even if they are not stock wheels? Finally how often in terms of Km's should a rotation be done? Thanks in advance for any advice :)
  22. Happens to my 2005 Camry ever since day one. I've now learned to release the foot brake very slowly which seemed to "fix" the issue ;)
  23. Wixy, thanks for that link! Didn't think Scratch X can do it for a scratch that deep and have such near perfect result, well in the photos anyway. Car is Silver (metallic) and yes scratch is deep enough for fingernail to be caught in there. Getting a paint repairer to do it this time since it's already booked but will definately try the DIY trick next time. Well, certainly hope there is NO next time!!!! Thanks Wixy for the link will bookmark for ref :)
  24. Thanks all for the support :) after reading your responses it does make me wonder what these people are thinking and what's the point of vandalising a standard car that's out there by the thousands! Anyway, no use crying over spilt milk I guess. I found this place, has anyone had any experiences with them? Or similar shops? What kinda savings can I expect and is there any difference in quality in getting the entire panel resprayed? http://www.autopaintfix.com.au/?g=1
  25. Hi All, Just as I went to drive my car this afternoon to officeworks to get some binding done, I've notice a rather big scratch on my rear passenger door which goes right across the door and "fortunately" was only on one panel (rear passenger door). There's still some "paint powder" on it which makes me think it's only recently done and was definately not there yesterday! I'm suspecting that some idiot at my apartment block as done it Why would anyone key a Camry! What would do they do when they see an S Class Merc? Put some form of nuclear warhead on it to detonate on engine start up??? Admittingly I do keep my car clean and have some aftermarket rims on her but still.... it's only a Camry... WHY??? Can that person not even afford a car?? Why scratch up someone's car?? This is where I think the death penality should be brought back Anyway, the scratch is not extremely deep you can't see the metal and it's still silver but you can definately feel the scratch by running your finger over it. What's the most economic way to get this fixed up? Do I need to get the whole panel resprayed? How much should I expect it to cost? I'm planning to call up a few panel beater places on Monday to get a few quotes. It's a 2005 Camry Altise if that helps :( One more think I'm worried about it if I get it fixed that fool is going to key my car again! Had thought about paying for secured parking elsewhere near my home but the cost is prohibitive almost $400 a month (I live close to the CBD). Which makes me wonder if I should get it fixed or not. Thanks anyone with any hints and tips....
