"Rip" how? Straight line? Corners? Track? Sounds like all you care about is how fast something is, so why not just go buy a Supra/Skyline/WRX/SS and be done with it? Like Andrew said, what are you ACTUALLY looking for in a new car? Create a list (more than just one line "performance"), prioritise on that list what you really want and what you are willing to give up, add in price range, and THEN start comparing cars. Otherwise you just look like this "What advantages does this motor car have over say....a train? Which I could also afford"

"Nearly the fastest N/A" what? EP3's (and Sportivos too) are "quick", but they are not anywhere near fast (ie EP3s only run ~6.5s 0-100 times and 15s 1/4 mile, which is barely faster than a current model Falcon). None of those cars you buy for performance alone. The Sportivo and EP3 you buy because they are a fun revvy hot-hatch that you can chuck around mountain corners on the weekend and drive the kids to school on the Monday and do the shopping run in, and the 86 is a car much like an MX5 in which it is a beautiful chassis crying out for more power - it is also fun to drive but by no means "fast"

No different to a quad-cam V6 or V8 setup...plenty of Honda V6s have VTEC with no issues. Besides, the 86/BRZ runs Subaru-style variable valve timing, and Subaru have their own variable lift system called AVLS which they use on the 2.5L N/A engines, and that works just fine.

86/BRZ doesn't have variable valve lift, just timing (Subaru's AVCS system). Where did you read that it had "lift"?

Seca is just Toyota's terminology for a Corolla hatch - it originated from the AE8x/9x series which had both hatchback and liftback models, to differentiate between the two the liftback version was called Seca. After the AE9x series Toyota moved away from seperate hatch/liftback versions (although there was a liftback AE102 Sprinter to compliment the local hatchback) and just called all their 5-door Corollas "Seca" regardless of it they were a liftback style (ala AE112) or hatchback (ZZE122). If there are ones out there without the Seca badge it usually means that the badge has been taken off (either because of accident damage repair, de-badging for style or simply because it sounds a bit silly)

Had some time to kill after Cara got admitted to hospital so went down to Newcastle Beach and the Ocean Baths to catch some afternoon shadow (makes photos of water sooo much easier when you're not fighting glare) And some scenic shots whilst I was there too

That's how the Sportivo bumper should have looked in the first place - the factory rear bumper is just hideous with those huge ungainly slabs of black plastic (especially on the lighter colours). The back end is still too slabby in my eyes (and the diffuser is completely useless apart from aesthetics, ala VZ Commodore SS). Quad pipes are a bit of a **** too, two single flattened ovals would look a bit better.

Hence why I said "usually". Last couple of times I've bought a filter from a dealership they've always had the washer in them.

Buy a genuine Toyota filter (as you should be doing anyway :P) and you usually get a free sump plug washer in the box.

TRD did supercharger kits for the 1MZ, but no complete engines or cars. There was a supercharged 5th gen Camry called the TS01, but that was a concept/show model as a demonstration of Toyota Australia's intention to liven up the range prior to the introduction of TRD.TRD have since stopped selling cars in Australia, and have returned to their original sales model of purely providing aftermarket parts.
