  1. Why? The 2zz pair will a decent size turbo will **** all over a supercharged 2zz. The best i've seen in a lotus exige s makes 250hp atw @ 11psi. A average turboed 2zz will make that and more at 7psi. Turbo now days are efficient, and a correctly sized turbo will have very little lag. Only good thing about s/c is that it will always be on boost and make power. But the gains are minimal. 2zz with off the shelf s/c kit make around 220hp atw. In Aust dyno, that would be under 200hp atw. And hardly any room for improvement when you want more power.

  3. Didn't say it won't work.. Pretty sure I didn't say anywhere here that it won't work. Just saying a properly tuned fitted itb will stick out the hood. And, most likely it won't gain any power. At least not enough to be worth the huge cost. And quoting boosted comment because i trust when he say they are undersize, that it is undersized. Because he port stuff for a living on the 2zz engine. He gotta know something about flow. He didnt' build his own flowbench for nothing.
  4. I'm just saying.. These's are the guys that work on 2zz engine for a living. Boosted 2.0 works on flow bench and port 1zz and 2zz header and head for the celica/matrix/corolla. This was the only post i could find. But there are heaps more from other experienced members. If it was possible on a celica, it would have been done. Why do something when the "experts" have tried and failed? Do you have the money to throw to experiment knowing others have already failed? Don't need to get all worked up man. Just trying to help out before ppl start throwing money at a bottomless pit. If you want.. You can go over to newcelica.org and argue with them. To see who prove a better point.
  5. I dunno.. If you have a look at those lotus itb. You'll see how they are properly positioned on a 2zz. In a celica/corolla, our bonnet slope down, and with long velocity stack, it won't clear the bonnet when closed. 4age itb ports are smaller than 2zz intake ports (i'm pretty sure). It will probably provide sufficient air but won't be anywhere near optimal. But i've never actually tried it before, nor have i ever played with 4age itb so i wouldn't know. It's all textbook theory, so if anyone wants to try props to them. But i know it won't clear the bonnet.
  6. Wrong !! ITB on 2ZZ Celica ;) Wrong!!!... Thats goldilocks celica... It's a show car that doesn't go.. Literally.. That is a 4age modified to fit. That is the one I was calling all show no go in my previous post. And a prefectly tuned itb will be straight and longer velocity stack. Even if that did work, it'd lose power. ^^^ Thanks vyets...
  7. Sorry to burst your bubble guys... ITB won't fit in celica or corolla. It'll sit so far beyond the bonnet, even a custom bonnet won't be enough. However, there has been people that modified a 4age 20v itb into a 2zz celica. But that's all show, no moving...

  10. Spotted a red corolla with sportivo bodykit. Atoc sticker up on front windscreen and FIST sticker on rear windscreen at oxley/17miles rock this arvo.
  11. bozurolla.... Who told you that cars need back pressure? 2zz-ge will benifit from 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust. As free flowing as possible, but that means it'll be really noisey too. What is hard is that, making it nice and simple, no crazy 90degree bends, no "u" bends. Basically as straight and as short as possible. If you have seen the trd kazuma race exhaust designed for 2zz celica. You'll understand what you need to get the most power from the exhaust. No cat will gain you 2-3hp max. Does the runx have a secondary o2 sensor?
  12. Exedy stage 1 is great for street with occasional launching (ie. 5 times a week). I've never driven with stage 2 but i think it'll be overkill and your gearbox isnt gonna last long with it. c60 gearbox is not exactly strong.
  13. I think.. I think Underdriving means your pulley are larger than the stock pulley. Overdriving means pulley are smaller than oem.

  17. As long as you know how to use the dyno. Then tuning the camcon is a piece of cake. Only problem is finding a dyno that you can use yourself.

  19. I've heard many stories that camcon and apexi safc get overriden. But only have had proof that the apexi safc gets overridden by stock ecu. Everyone who say that camcon loses it setting to stock ecu are those who don't use it and those who say all piggyback get overriden. Personally, all load of bs. Safc will work when set to turn on after 75% throttle, closed loop i think it was. And camcon, vvti setting definately will stay, that is a definate. Although a/f setting can be debatable whether it'll stay or not. But with camcon, you can turn it on and off when you need and the settings shouldn't be overriden if you use it that way.
  20. Don't worry, you'll have yoru chance next week. See if we can get wei wei to go also. Hopefully changing gear oil will help me get into 2nd. At least enough to show them a proper run. Damn, noone believe me that my car only has intake and exhaust, and putting down less power than a corolla. :D All gave me this dirty look and walked off.
  21. Hairdryer? Pfffttt... They just never seen a stock celica go. They didn't last night either... Stupid 2nd gear wouldn't go in all 3 runs when i was there. It was fine on the way there and way home though. ;) So I redeem myself on the highway on the way home... By a couple of car lengths. Where were you guys? I was looking around to find you, didn't see you anywhere. Probably too dark.
  22. Check out newcelica.org. It's the biggest celica community on the net. And close to you. It depends on what you want out of your car. Exterior is really up to you, it's personal preferance. For performance, you can either go turbo (hass or c2power kit), n/a (basic: aem cai, trd exhaust, power fc ecu) or supercharger (blitz or greddy). Depends on how deep your pocket is and what you want out of it. The options are endless.
  23. As for basic power mods, aem gen 2 cold air intake, trd exhaust, apexi power fc. Then i'd get short shifter (fidanza, b&m or trd), lower springs (hotchikis or tein s tech) or coilovers (tein ss-p or zeal). Then a whole lot of whiteline goodies that they put on their project cex track celica.
