^^^thanks for reminding me about the nudge bar recall!
We all worked out that one in the in 2007.....Toyota oh what a crap feeling!
good luck with your car repairs dude. My wife said she has heard the same noise once since the repair....I just dont care about it anymore, specially when I drive a 225kws forester!
-
I will pick it up from Botany and offer you $40....as I tried to get mine replaced by Toyota under warranty as it is fragile as plastic cheese :D They love to do the Tight arrrse thing all the time:angry:
Cars out of warranty now....:o not then:angry:
Any way let me know

Dont go in soft black mud with the standard tyres, you will not be happy with the results!
I did it twice in the same weekend last month the road looked not too bad, the Kluger thought it was way to much for its little self to take and squealed like a pig!
Sorry about the big pics darn site doesn't re size!!
And this was the first time I was bogged so the car was twice as bad as the last photo, it had to be pulled out from the rear both times

Ive had mine on since 2007 and its been fine!
I have also removed it then to fit spot lights everything looked fine with the design
Be interested to know what they have changed
-
my aurion has the same engine as the klugers and ive tried shell vpower without any problems(including rotten egg smell), even with hard driving. however, i personally think that mobil 98 or bp ultimate would be the best fuels to go with due to its performance.
V-Power is the winner

The inconvenience of loosing the car for all the warranty work and not getting compensated by Toyota.
Warranty work and the cars two and half years old with 40 K on the clock
1/ Key fob battery flat- Cheap easy fix
2/ Dash clips all needed replacing- 1/2 days work for Toyota
3/ VVTi Controllers need Replacing- +1 days work for Toyota
4/ Engine VVTi Oil feed pipe need replacing Toyota did a cheap fix on this one 20Min
5/ Whats next, warranty runs out in 6 months :o

This does work thanks!

Good to see my other car is at the top of this list :D
-
We should of all bought Skoda's it would have been cheaper!
Toyoya's name is coping a bashing over the last couple of months
Its just a car to me now! I wonder how all this is affecting our resales it cant be good
-
I have 3 AWD's
You have chosen wisely even if you don't know it, it could save your life or some one else s
-
could you explian why it is $550?
Its the FULL PRICE FOR THE 40K SERVICE
So if your on the Toyota disadvantage plan and you miss your due date by a month or two LOOK OUT!
-
I forgot I put up this thread, it created a bit of interest too. RR Im p1$$ with my car and Mr t
The cars got 40k on it my wife drives it 95% I originally chose it for longevity if I wanted problems I would have picked a locally built car, my Subaru has got 100thkms on it ITS NOT PERFECT either but for the distance each has traveled I know which maker I still prefer
Any way People check your cars for this noise as MR TRD said it is the problems with the intake and exhaust vvti controllers and lubrication again! Hey did the Lexus have these problems???? Some one got the raw deal
I too thought it was the starter motor not disengaging properly thats what it sounds like
We are going to loose the car for 2 days (no loan cars for Toyota's mistakes) and apparently it costs a bomb if its out of warranty,,,, so what next? Will be booked in tomorrow for the following Thursday
The whole things just a real inconvenience that should never of happened end of story!
I have a recording of it but can't up load it
Error Upload failed. The file was larger than the available space
It basically sound like a Diesel for a second or two on start up be it cold or hot obliviously if the oil is still up there you wont hear it
-
Has any one heard a loud noise that some times goes for a couple of seconds when starting there Kluger...then goes away.
It does not happen all the time, as it did for the dealers/mechanics
Sounds to me like a starter motor problem... then I have heard problems with cam gears.....
Any help would be greatly appreciated It will be going into the Toyota mechanic's again, yet for more warranty and recall work...
A word of warning for those people on the $150.00 service disadvantage plan.....don't be late, it will cost you!!! :( Like $550.00
-
Wow thats a very old Demo? 2008
Congrats on the purchase you will be very happy
-
Interesting that 62% of people who wanted the top of the line model went with the AWD....A GOOD CHOICE
I agree the Prado should not be included its a 4wd with low range

When I told my Toyota service dept that an intermittent rattle had started in the dash area of our Kluger she said they would look at it but it would be at my cost if they found something loose as I should have found it earlier for example in the first 1,000ks.
I just looked at the cow behind the desk and asked if she could point that out to me in the warranty information section of my manual. She declined as she was to busy at that moment but let me know that they would have a look at it as a priority if I happened to be driving around and close to the service dept and the rattle comes back!
I said when I am next in it will be for their compulsory Toyota advantage service and then she can show me where in my manual it mentions the time limitations on rattles.
Everthing with this dealer was good up until that crap answer she gave!
I'm sure there would be a legal case somewhere that has set the precedent for rattles. I know in the Subaru I had prior to the Kluger, the warranty specifically mentioned 20,000km as the limit for rattles, but I can't recall seeing anything similar in the Kluger warranty booklet.
Tell Toyota service to look at the listed dash issues for the early new Kluger models (which there is a warranty repair for like the oil line problem) and see if your car is affected by it? Good luck
-
Well my rattles are back <_< Had it checked again and the service centre secured some wires beneath the dash but it is still there.
So did they rip the dash out and replace the clips??
Nope, that will be the next step.
They have just been wasting your time then, it will never go away if they dont get to the heart of the problem which are the clips that hold the top of the dash in near the windscreen

Maybe its something to do with the first Kluger TV advertisement, where some one was blaming some one for the bad smell, when it may have been the car in the first place....
On a serious note ours use to stink all the time after a slightly hard hill work out, I thought it had gone away after nearly 2 and a half years and 37000Kms....
But I may have stopped counting my chickens prematurely, I was accelerating up a hill @110 yesterday and wow Im not sure if it was the car in front of me as we did not have the aircon on recirculate, but wow I think it (the car?) had been working on it for the last 6 months, my two boys blamed me... The smell was very strong its like some big chemical reactor letting loose, Im pretty sure e-10 may be the culperit or what ever the engine does to drink it as a reaction.
