  1. I've still got a few more k's in mine at 36,000 - must be the difference between city and country driving (there has to be SOME advantage about living out here in the boondocks  )

Its the dam roundabouts! its the out side edges off the fronts that are gone, the reast of the tyre could do another +5000Kms

I got a new price on the Yokies they have gone to $450ea, unfortunately Im most probably going back to the stock tyres and getting a really good alignment from DAY 1

  2. New Tire replacements are approaching faster than Xmas at 35000Kms.... I'm still very undecided would love to go the 255x55x19" Route with the Yokies but it looks like they will be over the $430ea the OEMs D400's are $375ea Then I look at cheaper tyres like Kumho's $300ea, Toyo's $325ea and Hankook RH06 @ $275.00ea and Desert Hawks "What the Hell are THEY?" at $225ea

All I can say is the D400 Have dropped in price since there are more options available to us all, still not keen on the D400's as I feel they wear out far to quickly in the city on the side edges :(

Any advice would be nice :D

  3. Have a look at the cup holders in the centre console. They don't have the rubber inserts, instead they have a spring loaded tab.

That was one of my wife's first removal mods so she could fill it with stuff and I can mount the radio in it when need be

  4. We had our windscreen (due to rock hit) and dash clips replaced this week, mad a world of difference :D They replaced 6 to 8 clips located in the front of the dash takes about half a day to do, the felt/cloth that is around the clips wears until it hits the plastic clip... then welcome to mr dash rattle.

A Known fault for Klugers by Toyota. :o

See picture of what they have to do to get to the clips

  5. The OD wont be a problem if there is it will be in the width, is the rear 3mm to the guard or the strut?

On the rear, there's only about one finger width between strut and inside of tyre ... so that's about 20mm at best. I am guessing that putting on a 255/55 would use up 5mm of that 20mm?? Is that likely to be a problem?

Also on the rear, there is about 3cm (not 3mm) laterally from inside of tyre to the wheel arch trim. Not sure what might happen if this is reduced to, say 25mm by fitting 255/55's, and then bouncing around on rough ground. Or am I imagining a non-issue?

Hopefully some one will make the move before me as we don't rack up a lot of Kms on the car ?

Yeah, but were you not one of the first Gen 2 owners? I'm just a 'Johnny come lately' with just over 20,000km on these tyres (but wearing far too quickly IMO) ... so I am looking to the likes of you to lead the way.

My wife drives ours most locally its just craked 30k after 2 years, the Tyres should be fine, just find a dealer willing to do a test fit and you should be fine, sounds like theirs enough room from your measurements

  6. I got a Price for the Yokohama advan st yesterday at $430 a corner....this could come down more

Have you gone ahead with the Advan ST 255/55R19's?

My local Bob Jane T Mart salesman suggested they would not be suitable. Although I a no expert on tyres, I can't see what the problem is given the OD is only 1% larger (763mm vs 756mm). Putting steering at hard lock with Bridgestone D400's leaves at least 3cm side clearance front/rear ... which suggests there is enough there to accommodate the extra width and OD of the 255/55's. However, it looks a bit tighter at the rear wheels where the inside clearance with D400's is less than 3cm ...hmmm.

    Grateful for any advice.

Just window shopping for the inevitable!

I'm going to make those bridgestone's work a bit harder yet for there money!

Hopefully some one will make the move before me as we don't rack up a lot of Kms on the car :whistling:

  7. Nice - keep me posted mate - Would you get 255/55 in that tyre ?

    Yep

Got the quote while waiting for the new Japan only Sti wheels and Tyres to be fitted balanced and aligned :D

  8. i was getting my first service done today, and while i was waiting i wandered around the showroom floor, and low and behold i paid attention (for the first time in ages) to the fuel consumption stickers on the vehicle on display. The Kluger sticker actually states for pure urban driving to expect 15.8L/100mks, and the combined is 11.6 (Grande). Fair enough i thought, thats about what i get if i lead-foot it around town, but what i thought was funny, and mildly depressing was that the Landcruiser V8 sahara has better combined rating than the kluger! (DOH!)

how the heck does the V8 'Cruiser beat our 6cylinder for economy?!?

Watch Top Gear UK.....Prius vers BMW M3, who get best fuel consumption figure when driven flat out in the PRIUS wjth the M3 TRAILING ALL THE WAY behind not even raising a sweet

Maybe the Kluger is the Prius in this case against the V8 Cruiser

  9. I have traditionally been a lead foot being the first to take off from the lights and the first to get there. Then I bought the Kluger and having the active fuel consumption readout has certainly changed my driving habits.

My driving habits are as follows:

    - Combined driving (250 country / 360 city kms) per tank (63lt) comes in at ie. 63lt/610km*100 = 10.3 (Readout says 10.1).

    - When there is no country driving involved I average about 550kms per tank (63lt) 63/550*100 = 11.45 (Readout says 11.8)

    - When I am away and my wife drives the car average is about 500 kms 63/480*100 = 13.1 (Readout says 14.2)

My conclusion is that my wife is a leadfoot, although the she does do a lot of stop/start runs to school and secondly the Readout is not exact.

I have tried different fuels ie. standard/premium (hi octane) unleaded and to my surprise they have no effect on the Kluger with the exception being E10 where economy diminishes by about 20%. i

The Drop and Go are the real killers because the car goes nowhere for over an hour a week with the engine going

  10. still like the TTG though B)

A TRD supercharged Kluger and Turbo-diesel version would round out the range nicely B)

I agree ;) the oiler I can do with out though!

  11. Tried and tested them all V-POWER works for me and produced the best output power seen on the Dyno from a Stock Forester XT. 133KW@THE WHEELS

The Kluger is what ever they wife puts in...its funny e10 even seems ok in it even though I would not recommend it long term

  12. I was a member of that forum for a while when I had my heart set on a Terri Turbo Ghia. That was before I test drove the Kluger... Sure the Terri had some positives over the Kluger, but also a lot of negatives and questionable longevity of certain components (in particular brakes and suspension).

I think I made the right choice with the Kluger - no regrets whatsoever!!

Now where have I heard this before?

Just spoke to a customer who had his pride and joy territory in our work shop over 2 years ago, I asked him how his Territory was going...His words were its the BIGGEST $HIP BOX I have ever had you will see it on the news soon! Then he went on about the the crap dangerous brakes, poor finish and something about having to remove the engine to remove Rust!

I should not have asked :(

SAME NO regrets whats so ever...We do need a new windscreen.....darn country foke! :)

I still like the TTG though B)

  13. Hi, wondering if anyone who has a Later model kluger has a mountain bike which the ship around ?

I have a bike rack which I can fit but would be convenient if I could just throw in a mountain bike into the back.. Havn't got the mountain bike as yet so hoping for a bit of feedback ..

Got a Thule hitch bike rack of e-bay can put 5 bikes on in 5 mins including fitting the Hitch no mess no fuss... used it on the weekend its a ripper :)

  14. I don't think the Kluger will be roomy enough for your family holidays, unless you get roof bars and a cargo pod (or tow a trailer). Six people in the Kluger around town will be fine though.

The Kluger's third row seats are not as capacious as the Tarago. Legroom in the Kluger's third row may be an issue on long drives if you kids are teenagers or older. So the Tarago would be better for the holidays. I drove a Tarago for a week on holidays a year ago, and I recall that the third row seat slides on rails. So you can choose the best legroom/luggage space compromise for your situation.

But overall the Kluger will be more enjoyable for your daily commute.

If you want to stick with Toyotas, there is also the option of the Avensis (seven seats, compared to Tarago's eight seats). Third row seats in the Avensis have more legroom than the Kluger. The third row seats have adjustable recline and individual "fold flat". The Kluger & Tarago don't have this. Very good seating flexibility! And there is heaps of luggage room behind the third row. This is because the space saver spare wheel sits outside the car beneath the front passenger seat. But, unlike the Tarago, the Avensis third row is not on rails. Plus the Avensis body shape has been around since late 2001, so they are getting a little old now. There was an Avensis upgrade around 2004 with a minor facelift and increase in engine size from 2.0L to 2.4L. I used to have a 2002 model with the 2.0L engine and it was enough for me. The Avensis looks big, but is shorter than a Camry.

The Mother in law love's her Avensis :) small bus

  15. XT Sti rims? nice!!

Goodyear Wrangler HP AW could be worth looking at too http://www.jaxquickfit.com.au/other-tyre-g...r-4wd-times.htm

Yep Sti Foz Rims :D In Brisbane at Present would like them on my Car like Now :(

I want tyres that can handle round abouts! You dont have many of those out your way do you?

Those Wranglers remind me of some Maxxis I looked at....you've just got to wonder...you have to live with the Tyres for over a year and if you don't like them...you just have to smile... :D

You be the Leader mate, I tell the misses to take it easy for the next 6k :D

It apears to use the switch bundle that is in the USA sport model highlander.

    post-14696-1251846625_thumb.jpg

We would have to source this part and maybe asking the USA forum is one way to get the part number - this is my next bit of research.

Most of the USA discussion appears preliminary and they haven't got hold of the manufacturer - their prices are much higher for a similar unit. If you search for a highlander gps on the internet you get lots of resellers of Chinese goods with big mark ups. No one sems to have installed one.

I have got the wholesale price - direct from the manufacturer. And no need to buy 50 - just one.

There is a bit of anti-chinese sentiment in the USA forums as well - they don't seem to understand just about all consumer goods are made in China - including most of the parts of the computers we are looking at this forum with right now.

I have a 7 inch portable chinese made GPS and it works well - uses the latest maps with red light/speed cameras and speed warnings - this is why I couldn't go backwards to the Toyota version. It cost only $200.

I'm not technically skilled enough to do the install - that's why I want to see if others have done it or to try and get some support/suggestions. :help:

I am willing to take the risk of buying he first test model.

    Kind regards

    Hado

There always has to be a leader.....with anything like that you are playing Russian roulette if you like to gamble go for it

I got the Grande because I know it was all meant to be and work together for a long time (I hope)

You never know you could be on a little winner as it looks the part but its whats on the inside that really counts

    Good luck with it :)

  17. I have to admit that Satellite navigation is become a must in the car. You can see some old Nissan that barely worth a cent will have a $300 plus sat nav hanging on their windscreen. I mean their portable sat nav screen is brighter than their brake lights... <_<

What Where is DVD has not catch up on is the current news. I wish woman voice inside the DVD have update her news on the current affair or todays tonight and found out by now that the Eastlink was open a few weeks ago and traffic is flowing well.

However, this lovely women keeps saying every few hundard yards of Eastlink, "next 2km, traffic restriction may apply.... ple...ase respect local traffic regulation."

I really want to strangle her but I don't know which button to push

If there is anyone want the V14 version. I am using a copy and working fine, but a double layer disc is required.

Taka I couldnt see a huge differance in Ver 15 when compared to Ver 14
