  1. Cruise definitely sounds great guys! Specially if we can do a photo shoot! Most dates are cool for me, as long as we get plenty of notice! Set it up.
  2. I'm pretty sure that with any new car any part you modify or touch is void of warranty, eg. if you change you're lights to HID, the warranty for you're lights are void, if you change you're wheels, the warranty for your shocks, suspension, maybe even you're brakes are void. If you touch you're electrics, installing new sound system etc... you're whole electrics warranty is void. etc etc you get the picture. So yes... if you modify you're engine, you're engine warranty is void. So the best thing you can do if you make mods to you're car, is to get a warranty from the mechanic on that part of you're car. The only problem is that if you're engine stuffs up, you have to prove that it was the modification that stuffed it up, which is near impossible in most cases. Al knows what he's talking about man, he's been working at Lane Toyota for as long as i know, and i've been getting my cars serviced there almost since i could drive, if i've ever had a problem with something, he's gone above and beyond to help me out. Have a chat to him, he's a great guy, i'm sure he'll help you out no probs.
  3. Hey, didn't know that! I've seen a couple of black zr6's cruising around now, If you see an sx6 with my name on the plates, give it a honk and a wave, and i'll honk right back!
  4. Honk the NSW-plated green ZR6 passing the area in a couple of weeks if you see it ;) Honk the black SX6, with black plates on my name on them if you see it! =) what will you be doing down in melb saintly?? maybe we could get a few other aurions around melb and have a photo shoot if you have the time?
  5. Ah, but of course, you're not bursting any bubbles here, I think we all know that 'realistically'. At the end of the day we need to realize that we're hooning around in family cars, (albeit with very big engines). But lets face it, most of the kids out there there driving the 2nd hand rex mummy n daddy bought for them would be hard pressing driving out of their drive way let alone getting from 0-100km in their cars potential time. I'm not saying that we many of us are any better, but the beauty of it is... you don't have to drive well with a semi automatic V6 3.5L... Just point the car in the direction you want to head and floor it! =p Y-try, I'm from melbourne. Glen Waverly area
  6. No not, yet... but most likely because my car is still new, maybe after a few months i'll start to feel like that, but if you remember that you get what you paid for, then it shouldn't make you wish for a ZR 6. Same car, but a few more features.
  7. Well yeah... 'technically' speaking, off the line a rex should be an aurion, but once you take into account that a rex driver has to clutch in and out to change gear, unless the driver is pro, they could be losing up to or over a second of acceleration time, during which we would be absolutely gunning it! from 80-110 the rex would be in front because they would be in about 4th gear, and they would be spending the entire time above 4k revs, which means a long time of turbo! (as long as they know how to drive and don't change too early, they will beat us at this point) but then as soon they change from 4th to 5th, their acceleration goes all the way down again, and while we're still gunning they have dropped their revs, and have to climb back up to hit turbo again, at which point they'll have been left because because the aurions high end torque it beastly!
  8. Hey Y-try, I'm driving a black sx6, totally loving it! left a story of my experiance with an STI the other night find it here http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...=13102&st=0 you're right, taking off wrx's really have nothing on us! =)
  9. Most of the aurions I see in melb are presara's... mainly mum's and dads looking for a luxury car, but can't afford a merc
  10. DAR1US

    My ZR6!

I agree dammit! And the cruise pages! would love to go cruising with a bunch of aurions!
  11. That's alright, I'm leaving saturday night now anyway. I doubt anyone wants to cruise all the way up there at night.
  12. how is it possible to start using 3rd GEAR! <_< I am 100% that when the car stop it will automatically shift down to 1st, then once it starts rolling, 1st/2nd/3rd.... It will stay in 3rd unless you shift up. Yes what I am saying is that in other cars with "manual" mode options on the automatic transmission, they will not override your choice. So if you put it in 3rd, then the car sticks in 3rd. This is a true manual mode. As an example of this I can only quote the mazda 6. If you are in 3rd gear in MANUAL mode, it will only automatically go to 1st if you come to a complete stop. Otherwise if you slow down then try to accelerate, the car will stay in 3rd because YOU are controlling the gears. The Aurion is not like this and this is what I found strange. In the Aurion, if you put it in 4 and then slow down, then want to accelerate, the car will change down to the appropriate gear. This is not like a manual. By selecting 4, you are not CHOOSING 4th gear, you are only telling the auto it can only use the 1st to 4th gears. If it wants to use 1st or 2nd gear, it will decide, but it will not go any higher than 4th. Despite what the manual says, it doesn't feel like this is what the car is doing. When I slow down I don't feel the car change gears until I actually down shift myself... I know that it is true if you launch the car 4th, but lets face it... if you're going to do that you might as well cruise around in drive. the only problem I find with this style of transmission is that you can't force a down shift if the revs are too high... (which you wouldn't do in a manual car anyway, unless you're trying to bust your gear box)... all in all, drive it like you would a manual, and it will respond like one... just don't try to clutch in... or you'll find yourself side ways (ps. if there is a moderator around, can you move the last few posts to a new topic?)
  13. I don't understand what you're saying Blinky? Are you saying that when you which from drive to sports modes that it automatically shifts into fourth? Personally I never go from drive into sport, so I really have no complaint there. Otherwise i think it works fine my gears hold till red line, they will even bounce the rev meter if i don't shift up in time. I took on a STI 04' last night, off the line I was ahead from 0-80km, semi auto's change change gears faster than manuals and more smoothly. from 80-110 he was about a boot length ahead, then from 110 - 150km aurions torque took over, and everyone knows a wrx will loose more torque at high end. (for the forum's sake, i was on a track) I think the shifting is fine, i'm quite happy with it. I always drive with it on, never use 'drive' mode, and always make sure that revs are above 2000. Good thing about it is, you can floor it, shift up before you hit red and the car will smoothly shift gears when you hit the red line. That way you don't have to drop your revs to change gear, and you can keep them up, which is important considering where our power band is.
  14. hmmm, that does seem a little high! My Aurion Sportivo SX6 gets about 13.5, but that's what i expect from the way i drive. I almost always make use of the dual vvti, which is just about 4000rpm, and when i'm cruising my gears are always low enough to the revs are running at around 2500 - 3000. And i usually go quite hard at the lights. Are you driving it in sports mode or drive?
  15. hmm... a bit less, closer to the $2k mark i think
  16. Hey guys, I'm driving up to Apollo Bay this sunday, probably leaving early. My friends have a party up there, I told them i'd drive them up, since i'm still breaking in my car. So if anyone wants to cruise up, maybe we can make a day of it, lunch... photo shoot! I won't be going to the party with them, so I can hang with the club. Let me know if anyones interested and we can set up a time and a place I'm thinking 7:30am at the shell just before the west gate bridge for a 8am start.
  17. yeah, done by blackmans http://www.blackmanandsons.com.au/
  18. Mate, if you can get the TRD Aurion wheels for $800, you might want to start a business selling the wheels to Toyota. Fyi, wheels are from China, not made locally in Aus. Also don't waste your breath trying to buy TRD Aurion parts from dealers, you won't be able to buy anything, not even a badge, unless you prove ownership of one, ie. Vin number. maybe you could find someone who owns a TRD and pay them to buy the parts for you
  19. dammit, i'm ****** off that i missed it now! I'm cruising up to apollo bay next week sunday, anyone feel like a cruise
  20. well, had my car 3 days now, i've already run into my FIRST problem... well, actually second. The first one is that black gets dirty SOOO freaking easily! I've been on two car cruises since getting my car and I had to wash it after each cruise, but that's not really a problem, i already knew that would happen... however, my car's microphone has stopped working!! =( I don't know if it has somehow disconnected itself or something, but i was working yesterday, now all of a sudden when i make phone calls... NOTHING so not sure what has happened, but that's my little problem =(
  21. Hey guys, went to the auto-pilots meet last night, was pretty darn sweet... some nice rides, great people really friendly! Not a hooning sorta thing like other cruises, definately should all check it out next time. hey marcus, nice meeting you last night man! Hope to see you around again!
  22. How did you get that price? I can't even get rating 1, despite the fact that i have never had an accident... it's very annoying! Best quote I have found so far is from RACV for $1367, on rating 3... Family has other cars ensured with AAMI so they bumped me up to rating one only thing is that you pay an EXTRA $450 on top of their $500 excess when you make a claim so that's $950 all up
  23. yeah, no problem, i'll take a photo tomorrow. Doesn't look too bad, not as good as the original but it doesn't ruin it or anything. The car is black I got it for $43.5k with rear parking sensors, dual tone leather, aftermarket sat/nav (need coz i wanted the aux port for my ipod) without the sat/nav though it would have been $39.5k
  24. Hey here's a pic of the custom leather that i got for my new ride, Aurion Sportivo SX6
  25. I'm assuming it's the one that at glenny centro! out the front where springvale road is. If i'm wrong, just drive around until you see a bunch of cars looking to cruise. It's not going to be hard to miss 60-100 cars.
