  1. Now part of a 'spanking orchestra' at Daikanyama Street Art Festival. :spiteful:

    Article with more videos: http://www.autoblog....king-orchestra/

Oh, and for those wondering what Ziyoou-vachi is in the DAS X Buttocks Drive Short Film, it's an oshare kei-themed band consisting of two JDM-spec & two half JDM/ African American band members. Avu-chan is a hybrid (Not the automotive kind.) btw. Now, don't ask me how I know. :P

  2. Why Toyota. Why must you do this to us and not bring this out to Australia.

Not sure how well would a RWD Toyota premium sedan would work here, as Toyota Australia also has Lexus with its RWD sedan range (Plus RHD Mark X is JDM-only. Brand new ones sold by Toyota HK still have the 180KM/H speedo.). The Mark X shares the same platform with the Lexus IS/ GS (The Mark X slots in between these two in JDM land.) & Crown, which will make it hard to position down under (Especially the price, it will clash with Lexus here.).

I guess the only other way is to get an importer to apply for the car to be added under the SEVS registry, so that it can be brought in as a low volume import (Might take a while though with the 18 month from release window, unless someone starts a petition and show an importer that there is demand for the Mark X in brand new form.).

Now, if only the market would open up to parallel imports.

  3. Not sure if there are any companies doing it here in Australia but back in my home country, there are shops who can interface a Garmin GVN box (Or similar.) to a touch screen controller (And an overlay, if the screen isn't touch sensitive.) on a lot of UK & Japanese spec grey imports. The Garmin GVN navi box can be installed without the touch screen controller (Less cost involved.), but that means using an IR remote.

Otherwise, there's also the OEM-style Chinese headunit route, though that one is a hit or miss (Some will work well for years, some will fail after a few months.)

  4. Wow! Those taillights look good. Facelift RAV4.3 style! Wish there are more varieties for my RAV4.2 (The Chinese-spec Jonway UFO A380 [RAV4.2 Copy] have taillights with a pattern similar to yours, but wouldn't fit the Toyota.).

  5. Euro/ export-spec Corolla wagon spy shots. Looks like the sedan/ wagon will adopt a similar front end to that of the upcoming Auris.

In Australia, there's the VW Golf Wagon, Opel Astra Sports Tourer (Coming Soon), Holden Cruze Wagon (Coming Soon) & Skoda Fabia Wagon. Would be nice to see the reintroduction of the Corolla wagon down under to go against those cars.

  6. Now using the cross references on that website, I was able to track down that the part is STILL being used on the overseas model Toyota Auris for the rear spoiler and also on the JDM Toyota E'Z for the rear spoiler also. They obviously still have it nowadays but why the hell can't my dealer get it from Japan or whatever... or did I just go to a dealer that doesn't order from overseas?

The Toyota E'Z is actually a Chinese-built version of the current Europe-only Corolla Verso. This might be a good thing though, as you will have a cheaper source for that rubber o-ring.

  7. One thing to note since you're in the US, you'll need to source LHD export-spec Aurion (Middle East) headlights, or Taiwanese/ Chinese spec headlights. Aussie spec headlights will have the wrong beam pattern for LHD countries.

You can try calling up dealers on the Australian Toyota website or Aussie wrecking yards (Shipping all the way to the US might not be cheap though.). You might also want to try contacting members in the Taiwanese Camry/ Toyota Club or something (Being in Asia, parts might be cheaper.).

  8. It doesn't even look like the skirt suits the body. It looks worse than some slap on body kits out there.

At least it isn't as extreme as the Sportivo's rear.

A rear 3/4 pic of the Malaysian kit

Just checked photos of the original Thai bodykit again. Not Sportivo-like, but the design seems to match the lines of the car better than the other two.

  9. The Malaysian Camry (Locally assembled.) will be launched next month, and spyshots of two cars with the Aerokit package are out (Looks like a dealer got a display & test-drive unit early.). The squarish front skirt looks to be inspired by our Aurion Sportivo, with the addition of LED DRLs. After looking at this, the front skirting of the Sportivo doesn't seem as bad (Though could do with some minor styling tweaks.). The rear skirting looks good though. White car is a 2.0G wih Aerokit package and the black one is a top=spec 2.5V with Aerokit package. If it's anything like the previous car, no sports suspension option (Previous Camry didn't have it and only the Vios is available with a locally developed TRD sports suspension.).

  10. i looked VERY VERY hard but didnt find the supercharger LAWL................ -_-

I wonder about that too. Nowhere in the Japanese reports I've read made any mention about a supercharger. Must be an electronic translation error lol.

Anyway, some official news on the Auris/ Corolla hatch, that bodystyle will make its Australian debut in October at the Sydney Motorshow.

  11. Thanks 4 the reply! Yes I'm well aware of those inserts, however as much as I do love jdm I was wishing to go a more streamlined approach.

So far i havent come across any 4.1 shaving off the plastic! Not only shave them off but make them plastics appear much wider to go with the wider flares. As nice as the WIDE flares in the pics above, I wanted wide, but not to that degree. Lookup the hilux's from Iceland on google! The flares are beefy and suit them so nicely, and don't look like the wide rav4 in my previous post.

Hmmm... On second thought, extra-wide fender flares with smoothed out side cladding will actually look good. The cleaned up cladding will be a good match together with the front & rear bumper, after imagining it.

As far as going off road I did have plans to go camping or something worth doing off road with the family. Images of thick Mickey Thomson all terrain tyres, white 15" rims and the flares woulda been nice.

Been hearing people bagging the rav4 for being a plastic toy.. I just wanna show off what can be done and get the majority of the work done myself! Since its not so new, it's more of a creative and fun thing. My big boys toy! I've paid the car off the day I took it home, no debts to follow me and nothing to make me feel guilty about any mods I make or attempt to make on it!

Yeah, most people I've met think that compact car-based SUVs aren't meant be taken off-road, but that simply isn't true. There are people in compact 4WD clubs who take their RAV4/ CR-V/ Escape/ etc. off-road which disproves that.

Something potentially big in the works. Stay tuned over the next couple days

    Looking forward to it!

  12. Wow, I wish I have the skills or time to do body work repairs myself (Would love to get the small dents on my RAV4 fixed.). That would save me a lot of money!

Not sure about the Aussie market, but Toyota offered an accessory garnish that is applied over the ribs in the side moldings for the Japanese & export markets. TBH, I'd leave the ribs on as it gives the car that rugged look.

  13. Japan's Camry Hybrid (Which shares the same styling as our Aurion & the South East Asian Camry.) now available as a Daihatsu Altis! The Altis is a mono-spec vehicle this time. Not much offered in terms of dealer option parts. Being a rebadged JDM Camry, that's not an issue though as both cars are basically the same, bar emblems and features. For those not in the know, Toyota owns half of Daihatsu (Since 1999), and shared cars starting with the Toyota Duet (Daihatsu Storia), Toyota Cami (Daihatsu Terios), Toyota Sparky (Daihatsu Atrai) & Daihatsu Altis (Toyota Camry Gracia.)

  14. 2012 Axio (Sedan) & Fielder (Wagon) just released! I guess we can expect the new Auris soon (The current Auris/ Corolla hatch was launched two months after the sedan & wagon.). Note that the export version of the sedan will be different from the JDM car you see below (Export markets aren't bound by Japanese regulations based on vehicle dimensions).

    Highlights;

    -Automatic High Beam (Standard on 1.5 LUXEL 2WD/4WD, 1.8 S "AEROTOURER" 2WD, & 1.8S 2WD/4WD. Factory option on 1.5G 2WD/4WD, Fielder 1.5X & 1.5G "AEROTOURER" 2WD)

-Panasonic nanoe ionizer (Excluding 1.3X 2WD & 1.5X 2WD/4WD). I guess Sharp no longer has a contract with Toyota for the ionizer, as the Estima/ Estima Hybrid (Updated couple of days ago) now comes with nanoe, instead of the Plasmacluster ionizer seen in the previous model.

-VSC, TRC standard across the range.

-Side & curtain airbags standard across the range (Excluding X "Business Package")

-Smart Stop Stop/Start Technology (1.5 2WD models only.)

-Lightweight resin tailgate on Fielder (I wonder if the new Auris will also get this.).

  15. The dealer had a black Sportivo (Saw papers on the dash, implying that the vehicle was sold, so didn't get to sit inside it.) on display while I was participating in the Camry Expo on Monday. In a dark color and in person, it doesn't look as bad as the photos I've seen. If I'm in the market for an Aurion though, I'd probably get the Presara with Ivory interior.

btw, is it just me, or did Toyota remove the power folding mirror feature from the 2012 Aurion Presara? Can't make out the power fold button on the mirror switch panel in the photo below.

Power folding mirror? Don't you activate this feature by leaving the switch on L or R rather than in the middle position? I don't think there was ever a separate button for this functionality.

Oh, and it doesn't actually fold the mirror (i.e. folds the wing mirror closer to the car for parking in narrow spaces), it dips both mirrors downwards so you can see the kerb better.

My memory of a previous-gen. Presara is pretty fuzzy at the moment (Been quite a while since I last sat in an Aussie-spec Presara.), but didn't the mirror switch for that model look like this? (Notice the fold button, to the right of the L/ R selector.) If it didn't come with it, then I might have it mixed up with the South East Asian version.
