  1. take it back to the audio installer??? obviously they fcuked up, shouldnt they fix it for u? save u the money you'll fork out for an auto electrician... expect to pay in the hundreds for a good auto electrician

unfortunately its my fault for he F*kup as i only took it to the audio installer after id attempted to install it ...

the auto electrician is going to give me a special rate so its actually cheaper than using the audio place i used .....

    thanks for the reply :)

  2. the very brief story

i attempted with friends to install a new DVD / TV deck in my car

We couldn’t do it and seemly Stuffed up a lot of things

I took the car to a Car Audio Installer and they installed the deck and got it working

They found the power cables going to the DECK were dead and ran a new cable to the deck giving it power

Now every time you turn the car of, POWER IS GONE and i cant use the key locking etc

The deck also resets, the tacho goes crazy and needles move all around before settling down after a few seconds, the clock resets etc etc

Does anybody have a solution to this problem without emptying my pocket?

    PLEASE HELP ASAP

I live in Sydneys North SHore ... so somebody close would be great

  3. UPDATE:

I could NOT manage to get the deck working after hours of trying

    Now things have got worse

the instrument cluster (both the tacho and the Speedo) go crazy when you turn the car on af first and the clock resets every time you turn the car on and off

Does anybody know of any car audio installers etc in the North Shore / Northern beaches area that are good and won’t charge an arm and a leg...?

Please if anybody knows let me know ASAP as I need to have this fixed ASAP

  4. i must say the car really surprised me with fuel economy - i drive it very very hard and still get 9l per 100 ks or so (using 98 octane)

its strange as when ur at 100 km/h the revs are (correct me if im wrong) about 3800rpm which is seemingly high for a car with a 6th gear .... one would think ur chugging down petrol with those kind of constant revs but the results prove this to be inaccurate

  5. I was under the impression that 30kph over the speed limit in NSW is an automatic suspension for 3 months.???

    i believe it is 45km+

"There are licence suspension periods, similar to the minimum disqualification periods applied by a court, for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30 km/h (3 months), and by more than 45 km/h (6 months).

If police catch you speeding by more than 45km/h over the limit you may have your licence immediately suspended and confiscated at the roadside for 6 months."

    http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/rulesregulations...s/speeding.html

30 km over you will loose it for 3 months, but not on the spot ... (a friend of mind got caught, took 6 months too actually loose his licence)

  6. I'm with AAMI

(19 year old, green P Plater - insurance is about $1250 with me as primary driver)

I put in a CAI, but rang them up before and asked, they said its not an issue - and added it to my policy

(with AAMI they let you have 2 free modifications before you might have to pay for additional ones)

it all depends on the insurer

  7. Long story short (and please excuse me if i've missed this somewhere earlier)...

It i recommended (if not explicitly demanded), that Stivos run on premium (assuming RON98 and upwards), but i read that some are using as low as 91 octane.

    What's the story then?

Can Stivos run on 91 and/or 95 octane, or should they be left on 98 and upwards?

stivos need a minimum of 95 (Premium unleaded) but some choose to use 98, (for example myself, and i get better performance and much better ks out of a tank)

  8. try driving a cl600, 5.5 litre V12 Bi-Turbo - 368 kw 800 nm torque then u can talk about ****ting your pants. I got in - (family friends car) and put foot flat ............... sh*tttttttttttt this thing fliess, like 4.8 secs to 100 in a car that weighs like 2 T, incredible

Soon hopefully ill be privileged to drive his new baby - CL 65 AMG 6litre V12 450kW and 1000 nm torque this will be an experience of a lifetime

  9. it was on fresh air constantly, im thinking it may have been fine if i had it on 23.5 or so which is what i normally have it on, just the other day decided to have it a little lower.........never really use the recycle button as the air ends up getting stale i prefer the fresh air

    cheers

    The prob i s- if u don’t have the recycle button on - whilst driving in traffic / city - u get all the fumes and odours coming straight into the car. I personally never turn off the C button - but again depends on where you live and what your driving conditions are;

  10. hi all,

Yesterday was driving my 05 upgrade sportivo from melbourne to rosebud for work....temp outside as left melb approx 33 degrees and 40 degrees by time hit rosebud. I had the climate control set to auto at 21 degrees which was fine untill we hit afew traffic lights in a row and traffic etc. Everytime i would stop it would blow out air which seemed really warm, im guessing its just the AC turning off whilst stationary like on older cars when ya chuck them on econo AC. All i know is that it started to get real hot in the cabin after afew sets of lights in a row and the driving (in between lights where it kicks back in straight away) wasnt enought to cool the cabin.

I know it was 40 degrees outside and i cant complain as the AC was freezing when driving along, it was just when stopping it turns off and warms up.............guessing this is normal.......for if i give it a rev at the lights it kicks in again........im guessing maybe if i was to take it off auto and just set it at say 21 it may stay on permanently....not cut in and out.......

not sure......thought i would post up and see if anyone else noticed this, though im guessing its normal, just annoying... especially with the boss in the car.......wanted to impress him with the new wheels........his 2005 BMW 325i......just an over priced sportivo i keep telling him.....same power.....got leather etc...lol

    cheers

I’ve got a 03 sportivo - and never experienced this. It was 38 degrees a few days back and i had air con on 24 AUTO - it blows hard till it gets to the temp then puts it lower / maintaining temp. I live it 'the city' and have lots of frequent stops / traffic lights and the air con (which i have on 99.9% of the time) has never 'warmed up' whilst waiting at lights

Obviously the hotter it is the harder the air con has to work - lengthening the time it takes to cool down the car - but once cool, it def shouldn’t start to warm up

Try not using the Auto mode - leave it on say 22.5 and see if that happens (with blowers on say 3/5 bars etc)

your car will still be under warranty - so maybe take it to Toyota to check??
