  1. Wow...for a newbie you know quite alot about filters. I mean I do understand that CAIs and SRIs purpose is of course to suck more air than the stock and restrictive air box. The thing that I'm still trying to comprehend is the filter and pods. I know that they filter out dirt, water etc...from getting into the engine. But if that's their purpose then why K&N are stating that when you have a K&N filter (Panel or Pod) it will give you some gains??? Because their less restrictive??? So again going back to my original question, should I just stick to my generic pod then...if it's going to do the same job as K&N??? And save $70?!? I'm after gains...not the warranty or million kms??? IF K&N is better than TFI in terms of power gains then...can somethere PLEASE STAND and explain???
  2. You no what peeps...here's a simple and probably a stupid question. With CAIs, what is it about them that actually gives you more power??? Is it the pipping? or the Air Pod itself??? I've got a Custom SRI made for my 2003 corolla. But my pod is a TFI (Generic $30 brand from autobarn) now I would like to know if I should buy a K&N Extreme Top Filter for $70??? Now my cousin is saying that its a waste of money and that I should just stick with my TFI Pod, since it does the job anyway. Now his into the modifying cars too...so he knows alot about Mods. So should I stick with my Pod or buy the K&N??? ← Bear in mind, that with K&N, when looking after them, they are guarenteed for a million km's.... ← Yeah I know about the Million K Gaurantee...but are you just paying for the name brand??? I'm just curious for a piece of cotton and wire mesh shaped into a cone, and it's got the brand K&N it justify the price tag of $70 - $100??? Or the cheaper generic brand??? I mean if they do the same job and same gains then whats the point??? TFI or K&N???

  4. Rollamods...thanks for the info and pic. But my car is a 2003 Corolla. So need help in that car model.
  5. If you do relocate the battery, would there be problems with the wiring??? Relocating to the boot??? Man...how is that possible??? Thanks for the feed back though
  6. Has anyone or is there a way of relocating the battery to the air filter box area? Is it possible? I'm thinking of making a custom pipping for an intake but the bloody battery is on the way??? Any help on this???
  7. If you remember back in June we had a Dyno Day here in QLD..... Qld Dyno Day Focus on the difference between my car at 112.5kw (stock) and Wei Wei's with a CAI which would increase power output and a Cannon which has decreased his output... Also check this out... Qld Dyno Day #1 I can't find the thread that contained the photos and results but Sportiv_Rice had a cannon and did pretty poorly (I can't remember the result) and the difference between this dyno result and the second on was that he lost the cannon... But, at the end of the day, it's personal preference..... :) ← Azza, This list doesn't make sense to me?!? From your list, are you telling me that 2 sportivos are not making the same power when stock?!? I mean your car makes 112.5 KW ATW While: Lance - 103.5kw atw(stock 05) Mtbrider - 108kw atw(stock 04) Huh?!?!? *Confused* And Danthuyer - 115.5kw atw(Unichip,CAI, CES cat back, headers) makes less power than Sportivo Rice - 118.5kw atw(CAI & CES cat back)??? So Unichip and Headers doesn't give you any gains??? Compare to a CAI $ CES Cat Back??? Hmmmmm...Interesting!!!
  8. $350 - $400 just for coloring your engine cover is CRAZY!!! Man...$5 - $10 Spray Can. And DIY...PRICELESS. For $350 - $400 I'd rather buy a TRD or AEM CAI with that.
  9. It can be done...I've done mine and it was easy!!! Just take the engine cover off, clean it, dry it and spray paint it with matching color! And let it dry overnight and put it back on the next day. Here's one done earlier :P :P :P
  10. Nice Wheelz...man. Be carefull not to scratch it and when doing a parallel parking! Also...after parking your car for awhile, check your CAPS!!! Some Sh!t heads might nick 'em.
  11. Hey Kcorro, I think we may have the beginnings of another "Pink Bits" here... Those in VIC who've seen it will know what I mean. Those who haven't, imagine a black Ascent with Pink Wheels, Bodykit, Wiper arms, mirrors and interior bits and pieces It's worse in real life than reading about it! ← Man...that car is "FUGLY"!!! I've seen it more than 5 times already! Somewhere in Doncaster area. It's a sight for sore eyes!!! And I think it's a chick driver too...I guess it makes sense with all that pink bits
  12. Dude...had my Corolla 2003 (Brand New) and I haven't touched the brake pads since then! I'm not hearing any noise when I brake. Though I've topped up the brake fluids twice and that's about it. Cheers
  13. N/A cars need back pressure, and a canon wont give it. Catback system with a propper muffler is the way to go. also i would have a look around for some pipe to replace the peice of stock intake pipe that goes into the intake manifold fromt he short ram intake, try to remove those sharp bends that will also help quite a bit ← Thanks for that Northy...I'll get a Catback Exhaust with a good muffler. As for the Ram Pod, I've listen to your advice and I replace the stock rubber intake pipe that goes into the manifold and I got a straight 3'' pipe. Here's a Pic Notice the hose on the top of the pod! That hose goes all the way through the front vent of the car. To give it fresh cold air. I'm still going to build a box/heatshield for it too. Cheers In_D_Major
  14. Thanks for that spec_black...though I'm curious why do you lose power with a Cannon Exhaust??? Care to elaborate on that one??? Also if I go the cat back, on a 1ZZFE would I get any gains at all??? I've got a Cannon exhaust, I took it out coz, I got caught by the EPA saying that it was too loud. I'm thinking of getting a cat back with the Cannon??? I've already done a custom Air Intake (check out my garage) so maybe a cat back with Cannon would give me some gains. I'm more into Torque than high end power!!! Cheers
  15. Hey...peeps...just wondering which mod will give you Torque??? A CAI or Exhaust (Full System or Cat back)??? I've read the other topic forums, but I'm getting mixed feedback. Some are saying that a CAI gives you top end, but a Cat back gives you low/mid range??? And Vice-versa...soo Can someone please clarify this for me...for the record??? Cheers Fellas
  16. HIROLA...where about's in E-bay us this front spoiler??? Had a look through Exterior accessories and couldn't find it??? Any direct links??? Thanks
  17. I agree with Pippy...DIY is the best way...saves you heaps of money. I do my service every 10K with my cousin (His got all the tools) and it just cost me the Oil ($50) Oil Filter ($5) and sometimes shout my cousin with Maccas ($6)!!! That's it!!! And we do a through check around, underneath the car too. So bottom line is DIY is the best to go. Servicing it through a mechanic is a waste of time and money!!! For a simple service... PEACE
  18. Get a PSP!!! U can buy an in-car charger and hoisters Whack it on the middle and there goes your bling bling baby!!!
  19. Here's my Custom Ram Pod. Got the Air Flow Sensor tube coupling from autobarn. Diameter 3'' and the MAF sensor just screws on top.
  20. Yeah I don't see no Pix either??? :( I would like to see what you have done, coz I've put in a Pod filter on my Car...looks like a rampod! I'll take pixs and post it soon!!!
  21. are they the ones with the orange brackets one each side? ← Yeah the shop is in Box Hill (it's called': 'On the Run') they especialize mainly with Subaru WRX STis. BigBum yeah the Summit Strut Bars are with the orange brakets on each side!
  22. Damn!!! Oh well it's the price we pay for the little bit of fun I guess. Thank dude. By the way...you from Brissy??? Where abouts??? I use to live there for 8 years man...Now I'm here in Melbourne! I miss Brissy...weather is good! :D So how's Cootha like nowadays??? Have you ever taken the route heading towards the Gap (near the TV stations???) at night!?!? Man I would love to drive my corolla there now!!! :D :D :D PEACE B)
