  1. is anyone else interested in coming to calder this friday nigh?

last week that "merah" guy in the red SP23 was there...

maybe a good comparo for all you 2zz's....?

anyway, if your interested, let me know... we might meet up somewhere before hand and all rock up together?!?!? i dunno, just a suggestion

Friday night I'll be at Ravish nightclub picking up some Rice Boom Boom, yeah babe, they are hotter than hell.

Is that why you got a corolla? make sure you take the dyno readout with you

  2. Theres alot of conclusions you can draw from this. As Danz said, my old car which now has nearly 70,000 km pulled 111.0 and that car was driven hard, but also maintained well. My car only pulled 108.2 but i have been driving it easy mainly because of the fuel prices.

Its probably fair to say that a stock sportivo puts out 103 to 108 kw, where as the modded ones with a CAI alone make between 106-112 kw. The ones with a Muffler and CAI loose a bit (MotoMan excluded).

Also worth mentioning is that the 2zz loses between 25-30% of its power from engine to wheels while the 1ZZ is around the same.

  5. Please define point one. Does this include a replacement panel filter over the stock unit?

I reckon a replacement panel filter = not stock any more. Stock should mean no changes to engine whatsoever.

Does that mean that a panel filter from Toyota Service and a panel filter from autobarn or supercheap auto as a replacement is a modification?

A better definition is required, replacement of a "filter" to another "filter" is not deamed a modification by insurance companies, while extra tubing and CAI is.

I would suggest that a normal-sized direct replacement panel filter, no matter the brand is a non-modifications. Obviously the insurance companies assume the same.

Well, if you send it back to Toyota and get an OEM panel filter then of course its still considered stock. If something goes wrong with your engine, it will be covered under warranty. But if you get a K&N panel filter (or any other for that matter), then that has a possibility to void your warranty. K&N also advertises that their panel filters improve your car's performance.

Anyway, I'm sure Lucio (or whoever is organising the prizes) will clear this up.

Say What? A Direct Panel replacement filter such as a K&N voids warranty, what load a crock, not true as its fits inside the current housing, therefore it DOES NOT VOID WARRANTY and is classified as a consumable via Toyota. Been confirmed by a couple of service dealers that I rang today, also by insurance companies.

If you replace the housing, such as the plastic bin that holds the stock size of the panel filter to something different structurally, it may void warranty.

Therefore panel filters no matter make or model is NOT classified as a modification.

Relax man, your car is stock as a rock.

  6. *ripping out hair* . I will make categories as follows

    Best Stock Corolla a.1zzfe

    b.2zzge

    Best Modified Corolla a.1zzfe

    b.2zzge

    Best Normally aspirated

    Best Turbo

First we have the draw of the hat, and i will place names on the board accordingly, then I will have a sheet with the following headings from left to right.

    eg:

NAME CAR TYPE, CATEGORY, PAYMENT MADE, RUN1 RUN2, RUN3

    Lucio 05 Sportivo Modified Yes 143.4 144.2 145.2

Since we have 3 runs, should the most power figure be on average or the highest run......im thinking the highest run.

    Cool?

  7. Mobil recommends the following for the 2zzge:

MOBIL 1 10W-30 or MOBIL SYNTH S 10W-40 or MOBIL SUPER S 10W-40 or MOBIL 1 5W-50 or MOBIL SUPER XHP 15W-40 or MOBIL SUPER HP 20W-50 or MOBIL SUPER GF-2 10W-30

    Capacity 4.4* Litres

    And for the 1zzfe:

MOBIL 1 10W-30 or MOBIL SYNTH S 10W-40 or MOBIL SUPER S 10W-40 or MOBIL 1 5W-50 or MOBIL SUPER XHP 15W-40 or MOBIL SUPER HP 20W-50 or MOBIL SUPER GF-2 10W-30

    Capacity 3.7* Litres

Should we have a draw on who is going up?like a raffle?all names in a hat :)

  9. I have been running Mobil Synth S, or Castrol Magnatec. If youre going to change every 5K youre wasting your cash on Fully synthetic, besides the fully synthetic is too thin. I once used castrol Type R, the car revved much faster but was idling different and it had lost power ;) .
