  1. My decision for AWD is because I need to tow 2 tonne and offroad now and then, and the snow this year. Want to carry chain, not need to install them if I can get away with it.

  2. -- Sorry I have post it in the outer forum wrongly, can anyone help to remove that one?

    Hi,

Just in case someone know, What/When is the major maintenance for Kluger? 50000 KM? or 60000KM?

    Thanks first.

you are 50% right, :). because the $150 only apply within three years, which means got to reach 60K within 3 years.

The reason I ask is I am considering to take novated lease, so if within three years I could reach up the mileages, it means another little saving coming from the lease.

That is easy! I brought the K in Nov last year and we have done just under 15000km.

  3. It is very hard question that I am trying to solve.

The problem is the largest variation of your fuel consumption is due to the traffic and mainly your right foot applications, so it is very hard to test back to back.

I mean if you really love your car, you will run the best fuel like the BP Ultimate, that is what in my RX-8.

Higher octane ratio will give a better response and better power for sure. That is quite dramatic for a big car. Certainly the extra money give driving pleasure.

Now your question is a economical one. So lets see.

The difference between 91 and 95 is 6 cents/L and 98 is 10 cents/L. So it is about $3.60 to $6 from warning light to fully filled. Or in percentage it is 3.6% to 6% now since a tank in Melbourne just reached $100 for the first time!

For that 3.6% difference in fuel bill. It is hard to see why not having something nice.... I can tell you the fuel consumption margin between 98 and 95 is very marginal. I have tried a full tank of Shell V Power and BP Ultimate. Ultimate in one off trial will have a consumption as low as 14L around city, while V Power is getting 15L. Now I use Caltex Vortex 95 (not 98) and get around 14.5L for the last tank, with half the tank used on the weekend and 20% freeway.

Depends what is easy around your area. If the petrol station is 5km out then you are using $1 to get there.

Now that much nagging about money, you are guess I am a typical chinese now :P

  4. Thanks Taka so you had abour 1900 kg behid in 35C and you did how many km's no drama?
Interesting and agree the transmission will suffer first in towing.

FYI, the day I went up to Benalla it was 35 degree C

It is a 450km return trip.

The owner's manual said to put the car in S4 mode because the 5th gear is weak??? I don't know.

  5. May I ask what is your point? I don't seem to understand.

It is simply a light bulb change and the mechanic of the beam has not been modified, although the ampitude/intensity of the beam increased. Therefore, it is not, in my opinion, glaring or I don't think it is blinding ANY car in the opposite direction, coz the beam is not directing to the car in the other direction to start with. It is still not as bright and as efficient as ANY stock xenon lights from ANY make. The low beam in all BMW is far brighter and far more efficient than this bulb can do, yet you see them passing ADR.

Converting to xenon light to halogen case will cause glare because the design and the direction of light beam changes! THAT... is the difference. That is why I don't brother with xenon conversion to get more lights.

  6. The fog outside is very thick tonight ... so I took some photos with my mobile

Just parker light, low beam off.

Low beam on, fog light on

    01062008362.jpg

Low beam on, fog light off

    01062008363.jpg

EDIT: It is important to note the car in front... because it is the limit of the light and the first sign of the reflector from the back of the car comes into view for me.

So it is about a block and a half ;)

ALSO: Personally I don't think the fog lights are doing much, it lights up around the car and the road immediately in front of you very well, but it does nothing to far away road ... 5m max, that is it.

  7. Interface uses external CD changer socket..................HU is designed for up to 8 CD's.

    Ipod works on Disc 1

Interface has 2 additional RCA inputs (i'm planing to hook up DVD player)

    Operating:

HU press once for front CD stacker

press again to come to CD changer 2 menu.

Swithing to CD 2 menu turns I pod on.Changing to FM/AM or CD 1 (internal) switches I pod off.

Track button on HU skips songs up or down.Volume reg on HU.

Display shows truck number and length

To skip folder you need to use Ipod itself

    And,it get charged as well.

    Works well and sounds great.

    IMO great value for money...............

Call me stupid but I have to confirm.

So the 8 CD is the CD 2 menu (iPod interface). So CD 1 (orginal 4 CD player) is still functional. Right?

How does the RCA work as well?

I assume the interface plug into the CD charger socket.. Right?

I think I can do it!

EDIT: Hang on, are the top 2 screw Tacx screw (whatever they are called - those star ones)?

Also there are just clips from the top vents? Any tricks to get them off?

  8. Nice, so DID your screeen functional when you drive (before it got fixed @ dealer)?

What I am getting is that people are thinking of tricking the speed sensor to the sat nav so the unit thinks we are doing less than 5kmh, but in this way (according your experience) that the sat nav will not work at all....

So it is not a solution then
