  1. Hi, i've registed for a while now but was busy with other commitments to post regularly. I drive a white 1992 paseo, that is pretty much completely stock, except for the audio system which is completely alpine (i know a couple of people that work at northfield marrookka) and from the way im heading might make a "boom" van or car to compete with in the futurem its on about 253000KM and is still running extremely well. Ill try and get up a picture of the interior and exterior when i find my camera. Im not going to put any rims on it or a larger exhaust because i love the face they make when a teen with rims and a tip gives me guff about my car and feel the vibrations and clarity emitting from it. I still have a lot to do to it (inverted boxes, parading the pdx which is sitting inside a safe place) just like all other teens when they get their first car. And i just noticed i might have posted in the wrong area..
  2. I was thinking about doing that aswell, until i added up the cost where the engine, labour and accessories will exceed the cost of buying a car with that and accessories already installed, where it would cost about 7-10k for the car with the engine inside already or so and about 13k including labour or more to install a half cut into a paseo with the stock engine (it was 13k when i got a quote from my friend, which has recently retired due to back problems, which included charger and intercooler). Downside, you dont know where the car has been, and your looking to spend about 6 months without a car according to the SSS that my uncle has built and left for me (cost to build was 18k but sells for 5k now). But the prices are from people i know, it may very depending on the parts you purchase, who does it and where the engine is from so please don't scream at me.
  3. I have 2 cars, a paseo which is my sound car and a Pulsar SSS with a S15 halfcut.
  4. Is it illegal to drive around a car without a spare tyre in the trunk in Queensland, apparenlty to some it is and some it isnt. I would like to drive without a spare due to my car being a car based on power to weight ratio
  5. Yea, the only upside to inverted is a smaller box, not really much smaller. I plan to make the box then a "skirt" or fibreglass mould over the top, this way i can still access my spare tyre and have a precise volume reccommended for the woofer. Thanks for the replay, much appreciated. Oh one more question, with the dampening material, is it better to have it empty, fibre glass by itself, fibreglass with a pillow's insides over it or just a pillow's insides by itself if i already have the correct volume inside.
  6. Im creating a inverted sealed subwoofer enclosure, its 15"x15"x9". I was wonder, is it true that it is a bad idea (dont know why) to have a enclosure that is square (15"x15"). I know afair bit about creating an enclosure (volume, dampening materials, materials used to make box, sealing etc.) but i heard that creating a square enclosure is a bad idea off a friend and just wanna double check before i proceed on creating this box.
  7. i see alot of people doing it in QLD due to the new driving laws so they cant get much HP out of their car. So they do what i do, audio system and pretty lights. and yes you might need a fuse just in case, 4 amp should do, 1 would blow too quickly. but i dont think if you hook it through the cigarette lighter you dont need a fuse cause of the inbuilt one.
  8. hey mate, im not sure if this is relevent but i got a 9886, but you gotta press down the large volume knob, then put subwoofer level to 15, press it again it will go to bass, and press it again then treble, then your balance and front and back, im not sure what the last thingy does, but there is also another set up when you hold the little f thing to the left of your channels and also when you hold down the imprint button to the right. to exit the menu hold down the silver return button near the volume knob. good luck Also if you are going to get the imprint system thingy, make sure it is suited to your 9887 as there is several different versions for different head units, its about 300$ (but can be haggled down) and does a 100 or so point eq so you dont have to mess with the bass and treble, if you do use it, make sure you analyse all seats not just the driver or it will sound really bad.
  9. Thanks for you explanation. it would look weird if i had a different brand of sub
  10. Hi, i just wanna know what happens if i have 2 different brands of subs in my car, i currently have a pair of type R 12" alpines and looking to install a 3rd, possibly 1 Digital Design DD2500 or 1 kicker l7 or l5 or any other sub that would run 800rms (please recommend). If the sound quality is poor, would you recommend a type R alpine 15"? To clarify if i have a 2 alpine sub next to a kicker sub, would the bass sound terrible?
  11. one pain staking way that i definantly know would turn off when you remove the key is behind the 12v DC cigarette lighter where the side of the back is negative and the center is positive. With this you could also put the switch inside the car. The annoying thing is that you have to have the key in the ignition if you wanna glow your car up. This is the cheapest way i have found without buying any other parts
  12. How would i go around to attach neon lights to my cigarette lighter without using that 12v DC adapter? a detailed description of soldering would help alot (what is positive and negative at the back).
  13. thanks for all the replies, its helping alot. Thanks again
  14. I have done some research and i found out the max cca for a battery that would fit under the bonnet would be 450, im looking to run one battery in my trunk and have an additional marine battery in the trunk to assist in running my sound system (1 monoblock amp) where the battery is connected to the engine or bonnet battery some how so i won't need to constantly recharge it. What gauge of wire must i use, is it possible to use house power cables (according to my friend) or is there anything else i would need to run an additional battery in my trunk, a slight explaination of wiring up would also help me alot. If the above is not possible what type of wiring would i need to run a battery from my trunk instead of under the bonnet.
  15. Hi im new to this forum, i own a Paseo 1993 or 1992 i can't remember with the stock engine and this is my first car. I was just wondering what is the largest battery i can put in car without apparently "blowing the chipset". Some people say you can put a marine battery in it however i am unsure and it is my first car My second questions (this maybe a stupid question) is that i am looking for a better altenator as when i run my subs the over head light blinks (this could also due to battery), where can i get one around the south brisbane area. After i do get the new alternator and battery is there a need to get a capacitor? My last question is What is the best way to wire up two amps (one for subwoofers and one for speakers), as i am currently running a mono block powering 2 type r alpines, do i run another power wire from the battery or should i get a power distribution block. i currently have a 1200w wire set running my mono block.
