The backlight on the radio of my 99 Camry Touring went out suddenly this evening. The radio is a Fujitsu TEN, the same as found in the Vienta Grande.

The radio and antenna still work fine, it is just the backlight for the display that has gone out. When the headlights are on, the controls for the radio still illuminate.

Any ideas on what I should be looking at exactly?

I'm 99% sure it's a globe behind the display and I'd say it's blown...

Take it to Strathfield Car Radios and they should be able to help you out...

ok sounds like the SMDs are dead. You can replaced them yourself but if youre not familiar with soldering take it to a pro shop.

or you could use the opportunity to advance into some serious sound by upgrading the deck to something more expandable... add good speakers and a nice sub
