Just bought an Echo...

Hi there, I recently bought a 2005 Toyota Echo about two weeks ago. I don't really know much about cars... But when I start it and the engine is cold (and the cold temperature light comes on), the engine tends to rev heaps until the little cold temperature warning light disappears. I used to have a Celica, but this never happened with it, so I just wanted to find out if anyone knew if this is normal?

Thanks !

yup normal.

as most modern cars nowdays, you don't need to warm up the engine, you can drive the car straight away. But I tend to let warm up the car for abit, till the RPM drops around 1,000. If you don't know when the engine is still cold and you try to put in reverse, the gear will grind  (im speaking about manual).
