Hey guys,

I dont usually post anywhere except the Camry section, but i need some advise for a Corolla, I tryed looking for similar threads but none could full answer my problem

My GF just got a 00 Corolla and wants to change the lights as the stock bulbs are ugly :P

Sooo

Does any one know how to remove the dash/gauge cluster from a manual 00 corolla ascent. I got most of the way but could not go any further as it feels like that OD is wire driven. Is this the case and/or is there an easy way of removing it??

Cheers

hrmm im guessing ur talking about the ae112r models yeah? i dont understand what u meant by "OD is wire driven". I've taken out the cluster quite a few times, its basically a screw off procedure besides the exception of the white tube like thing behind the instrument cluster which is only accessible by removing the headunit space. Then just remove the 4 wiring loom and thats it. twist of the bulb holders and replace bulb. hope that helps.

If u need photos then i'll provide them.. as im planning to change the bulbs again anyways.

Sorry the OD = odometer ...... I think its that as i cant pull the gauge cluster out far enough to look. i can only feel ... it feels in that area

I didnt think it would be wired since its a late model. but I thought id check

besides the exception of the white tube like thing behind the instrument cluster which is only accessible by removing the headunit space

Next question how do i remove the head unit space... i thought of that but when i was tinkering around to see how to remove the H/U, i couldnt find a clear solution.... I didnt want to try anything to much as its not my car :P

Your help is (anyones help) is very much appreciated :D

to remove the headunit, there are 2 screws holding it down. to get to it u must remove the air vents just below the headunit. after that remove the 2 bolt screws and the head unit should just come out. then reach in behind the cluster and find the "OD" thing, its a white tube looking thing. u have to press something on it to release it. after that it should be a piece of cake.

oh btw. take ur time when ur removing the screws.. u dont want to lose it
