Its a good chance it will be a rear main oil leak to fix the motor will have to come out if you lean down at the front of the car and look at the join at the rear of the engine where the gearbox joins and run your figure along the bell housing you will find oil there also some times under the distributor the oring leaks where it goes into the head also run your figure alng the back of the tappett cover as there it a oil smell these are the places where oil could drop onto the exhaust if you can get your head inside the drivers side front wheeel well with a touch you might find front oil seal or cam sharft leak but this couldnt get on to the exhaust easily
