It is actually Illegal to put an older engine into a newer car. If you do this you will not be able to get it registered.

Besides you want put a less powerful older engine into your car, To do this you will have to fabricate new engine mounts cross members, perhaps even a new bell housing adapter. What I am getting at your a spending a lot of money to go backwards.

If you want to do this I could save you some trouble, why not give straight to me! I have a few loans that need paying off!!

Howdi all i have been through 2 heads already in my ST141 with the 2S motor.......anyway to cut a long story short i have 3 coronas, 1982 xt130 wagon, 1982 xt130 sedan and a 1985 ST141..... I recently bought a 1X(yes the holden starfire motor lol) and i want to put it in the ST141 even though it may sound stupid and or pointless to some i cant kill those engines. They dont have as much power as the 2L super response 2S motors but aye im happy with the starfires.

Has anyone ever put a 1X into a ST141 corona?? problem i have at the moment is with the distributor as they are different, the xt130's run a lead from the coil and the ST141's have a couple plugs that come from the fuse box (dont know too many technical terms im learnin lol)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also I must say that Corona's are awesome fun to get sideways XD It was the P plater car of choice back at highschool.

That is so true, and they were also good burnout cars, if you could put up with the phenomenal axel tramp that is.

      Hi Michelle, The head unit usually has the amplifier built in. Only top end or custom systems have separate amps. You can get reasonable multimeters for a few dollars, but they will be useless troubleshooting the car's electrics, with the engine running, ignition interference. Herb

      Hey Herb, I haven't managed to locate the amplifier, it isn't where Google said it was. The plugs seem to be taped over but there didn't look like much room for it anyway. I looked under the head unit behind the dash. I do have a multimeter that was my father-in-laws so it's very old and doesn't have ohms lol. Might be time for a new one. Try again tomorrow :)

      Hi again, Michelle, I did a search and found Toyota speakers, for another model and they were 4 ohms and 17.5 watts. The watts rating won't damage the amplifier, but the amplifier may blow an under rated speaker. If you have a multimeter, that can measure very low ohms, you could try measuring the old speakers, as the nominal rating is close to the resistance. Herb

      Hi Herb I've taken out 2 and both are badly corroded. I do know they are 6.5 inches. AI chat suggests that replacement kits are 4 ohms so the AI suggested 4 ohms is the impedance. I'm not sure how the watts affects things, perhaps the amplifier might blow if the watts are to high, back to google I guess. Another consideration with aftermarket is they need adapters and spacers which is all about fitting them into the space in the door. It's a lot to pay if they blow again or don't sound as good.

      Front Wheel Hub Bearings...

      Update: I had a chance to take the Aurion out for another spin and yes, the noise is still there but not sounding any different than before. I then jacked her up in the front, left it in Neutral, and did the wheel spin trick. I spun the driver's side wheel with my left hand and with my right hand on the coil of the spring and felt nothing. Hmm.. ok. Then I spun the other side and low behold..., I could feel it. There is a definite low level grumble there which weirdly enough it amplifies itself through the coil spring. That Car Care Nut Guy is a Genius !! So, it's only the left wheel bearing at this stage and mind you there is no play in the wheel top to bottom or side to side. So, it's only just very early days. I suspect the grease has almost all but dried up creating the low level groan, but not to the point where the bearing has any significant wear to make it loose. Nevertheless, I will be replacing both wheel bearings. I am also considering replacing the hub sections too so it's all fresh and new. The order from Amayama is on its way and and currently getting prices from a couple of Toyota dealers for the hubs. Their prices are ok on some items, not always as cheap as you may think. I always cross reference prices from Ebay to Amayama and others just to see the price differences. You'll be surprised how much you could save by splitting your orders around.

      Hi Michelle, You don't need Toyota speakers, just go to Jaycar or look online for car speakers. About $70 per set of two. They are usually 4 ohms, but 8 ohms would be OK. Size is the other criteria you need. The diameter across the cone. Can you remove one of the existing speakers and look on the back? They usually have their spec (ohms and watts) printed on it.       Brake issues

      No growling you say ! Hmm maybe my rotors had wider slots back then. (??) At any rate I can say from experience that friction material quality is variable. Must have something to do with quality control (or lack thereof) during manufacture. I once got a "dud" set of Bendix Ultimate pads that overheated and glazed well before the advertised 550 Celsius limit. Rang Bendix and they didn't believe me, but a fresh set of pads cured the problem, so even Bendix can have quality control issues, even if they don't always want to admit it. And before that, I had an Alfa 33 that had EBC BlackStuff drum shoes, and the friction compound (like yours) lost a thin chunk of material off the surface. Being drums, the chunk couldn't just fly away, but instead, wedged itself between the shoe and the drum, causing an instant rear wheel lock-up on one side, which caused the car to skid and slew to one side. Lucky there was no other traffic, or it could have been dramatic. At any rate, a fresh set of EBC BlackStuff shoes were fitted and they performed perfectly ever after.

      speakers 2020 Hilux

      Hi there, I'm new and have made a search on my 2020 hilux speakers but nothing comes up. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong. Anyway Mr Google is unhelpful and even Toyota doesn't release this info to the public so thought I'd try here. My 4 speakers have blown. That means, I've checked the fuses and power to the speaker in the driver door panel and all good. I'm going to assume all other wiring to the speakers will be good too but for now one door card off is enough. The speaker is not ok and I've used a multimeter in accordance with Mr Google. Tweeters are still working so can I assume the amplifier is ok? I have priced Toyota replacement speakers but what is the specifications on them? Toyota didn't know. The price is $118 per speaker so I thought I'd look at what is available and perhaps better sound?? But if I don't know specifications I won't know if aftermarket speakers will blow the amp ans I can't find specs on the amp either. Ideally I'd like to upgrade the speakers without upgrading the amp. Does anyone have any info to share on this?

      Yes Sir indeedy. I must say that the engine is pristine, even for 170K old now. The engine bay and engine still presents like new. The only parts I've ever replaced were the serpentine belt, tensioner pulley and idler pulley. It's had two batteries and the routine oil and oil/air filters. Coolant has also been done. Plugs are still factory and showing no sign of any misfire issue. Original alternator, air conditioning compressor etc. It's never really had any invasive repairs. I must say that Toyota really sharpened their pencils when they designed the 50 series. I believe it to be the best of the last of the most reliable Toyota's ever made. The Camry V6 which replaced the Aurion after production of the Aurion ended. in my opinion, doesn't hold up to the 50 series Aurion. I'm happy to be correct on that but I am confident that my 50 series Aurion will see less issues than that of the XV70 Camry V6 and sadly the newer cars are just getting worse in terms of quality. 2017 was the peak of Toyota Quality in my opinion. 😄😄

      Red Liquid In Catch Can

      Fuel, red or any other colour it has no business being in the catch-can. A catch-can is used to capture engine oil vapour etc.
