Brake Hose...

Hi all...

Got G4's on my stivo.

And luckily last week when I went to paint my calipers, I noticed this (driver’s side only) but lucky no fluid coming out yet... but few more days or so later, I would have probably found out the hard way...

Got it replaced just this past Wednesday, & we bent the bracket so it wasn't rubbing against the rims or anything.. And it was fine...

And just today, got home, checked and the hose was rubbing against the rims.. arhhh...

so shredded the hose a little again... only 2 days later, grhhh... so the bracket is soft and bending somehow..

so just wondering what other's have done, if you've had this problem? or any suggestion's?

I was just thinking of covering the brake hose with another hose or this other split tube stuff I brought to cover it up, and cable tieing it somewhere? but think I need to also make sure the bracket doesn't move..

Any suggestions would be very helpful...

Thanks in advance..

edit: or anyone have Braided Brake hoses or know where to get them?

Off the shelf braided brake hoses aren't ADR'ed. There are some people that do the braided hose for the hot rodders. Come around to your house in a van and do it all on site and they are usually up to ADR. But I would avoid replacing the hose with braided as that will transfer the problem to your rim/tyre and won't be solving anything. I'd play around with zip ties or the bracket to get the hose out of the way. Is it possible to twist the bracket so that it takes up some of the slack in the hose?

Thanks SuperDave. Tried taking the bolt off where the bracket is held, couldn't get it off, will get mechanic to see if he can un-tighten it and move the bracket down. Have done a temporary fix. Will post pic.

if you want ADR approved braided hoses Maltech can make them to your specifications, the guys there are very toyota-friendly. http://www.maltech.com.au/

I'd be making a new braket to hold the lines well out of the way.

Thanks rollamods, checked the website, and they're in VIC, but just sent them an email anyways, and hopefully can organise something with them, yeah looking to make a new/other braket.. will have to make a trip to Bunnings.. any suggestions as to what to buy/use?

Did you DIY install dude or was it a suspension place?

Hi Tayles, yeah got it done at a proper suspension place... but they don't seem too helpful, as the coils weren't brought there & they didn't seem very interested installing these one's...

Here's a pic of my temporary fix, will fix it up more on monday arvo, once i get another new hose replaced, grhhh... and underneath that black stuff (outlined in red) where it got cut last time, is another hose on top, two layers of protection, keke...
