1993 vienta audio system frozen

Hi All,

We have a 93 Vienta Ultima with OEM Fujitsu Ten audio system. To cut a long story short - we deliberately activated the anti-theft security (we had the code to unlock it) but now the unit has totally locked up. It won't allow us to input the security code... the LCD display is just dead and won't register any buttons pressed. The manual says to press TUNE ^ followed by 1 RPT buttons to enter your code, but this sequence isn't registering.

We tried the obvious - disconnecting the battery, but no luck. Is there some sort of timeout before it lets you enter the security code?

Any ideas on how to reset or wakeup the system?

Only option is to take it to a Toyota dealer and have them reset it.. Had same problem with my Corolla after a flat battery. Car was bought secondhand and I had no idea what the code was, only gives you 10 tries and the locks you out totally. Cost me $45 to have them do it..

Thanks for the advice, we will keep it in mind to take it to Toyota.

It's annoying b/c we actually know the code, it just won't let you enter it.

Get rid of it. That was the first upgrade to my car :)
