I am in the process of installing an alarm to my 88 Tarago GLS - the problem I have is with the central locking, because the locking does not work on a master / slave setup (where you unlock the driver door and others unlock) but on a switch, I am finding it hard to configure the alarm's switching to trigger the open and closing of the door locks.

Has anyone on the forums installed an alarm to a similar model and gotten the central locking hooked into the alarm?

If so - could someone give me a clue? - I normally breeze through auto electrics but this one has me scratching my head.....

PS: I would really only like to spend money on an auto electrician as a last resort - Carers pension doesn't pay that well!

Hi there, I have just completed the exact same installation. I put a keyless entry/alarm into my 1985 Tarago.

I went down to my local auto electrician who was very helpful and told me what to do. I'm not exactly sure why or how it worked but it involved two relays and the lock/unlock switch acting as the trigger. You need to wire up one of the relays to trigger the open and the other does the close. As I said I'm not sure how it worked but I reckon if you drop into your local auto elec and ask, there's no reason why they won't help.

Also, be careful because once its installed the switch will no longer work. And if you accidentally press it like I did you will blow the electric windows and sunroof. Now I have to pull my dashboard out and find what blew... Fun and games so be careful.
