95 VIENTA - STARTING ISSUES

DIVO

Recommended Posts

Flashed code 22 - replaced water temp sensor. Improved start but not consistently. Difficulty starting if left for 30 mins or so. Once warm starting is perfect. No head gasket issues - checked by RACQ. I need a good mechanic to help solve this annoying problem. Fuel economy much improved after changing water temp sensor also. Any suggestions ????

What exactly are the starting problems? Cranks fine but takes ages to catch? Or sluggish cranking. Could well be either the battery, starter motor or alternator are dying.

Does it idle ok?

What about cold start... does the rpm sit just under 2k for a lil while til it drops??

Rarely starts first turn cold - usually 2nd or 3rd. Revs just under 2K and then settles. Idles fine once started. Battery only 12 mnths old.
