hey, Im thinking of getting a corolla sportivo but have been told there was a recall on them for a specific year I think... does anyone know of anything I should look out for before buying a corolla sportivo? any specific year I should be looking out for not to buy or somthing like that?

damn, only sketched through it but it seems theres a lot of problems with the gearbox... one would think a car at the price and year of a sportivo wouldnt have such issue's

EDIT - read it a bit more and all thats needed is slight adjustment within the clutch... correct?

The clutch grab point is adjusted yes. There is nothing wrong with the gearbox, bar a slight 1st - 2nd gate issue that is overcome with practice, and ensuring that you head left a tad when selecting 2nd from 1st (this applies only when shifting at high revs, ie: when you are giving it a gutful). I still do this in the RX7 to this day due to the amount of times I applied it.

There was an ecu recall on 03's and some 04's. I had no issues with mine when I had it at all, bar gear selector cables (they rattled). The ecu was also recalled and replaced at no charge (as they should).

Your brothers mate must drive an SP23. You see, SP23's are great cars. They really are, I nearly bought one instead of the Corolla when I was looking. I even own a Mazda now.

So are Sportivo's, although SP23 owners always seem to see red on certain forums, and feel compelled to roll their face across the keyboard in sheer frustration at Corolla owners not bowing down to suckle the epicness of their gigantic SP23 owner phallus. Corollla owners are NOT their personal sex guards, nor do they deserve any.

If he doesn't drive an SP23, then he should buy one. He fits the demographic.

Insurance is the biggest bonus that I can think of with owning the sportivo!! :toast:

Mine gives me a bonus every time I see an SP23 at the lights lol ;)

...and then again when it uses less fuel,

and was cheaper to buy etc. etc. actually, there are tons of bonuses. After two years, I still enjoy driving it everyday!

This is my second Sportivo! Enough said.

My partner love the SP23's and is looking at getting one. With an SP23 and a Sportivo in the garage, I would pick the Sportivo over the SP23 to drive everyday.

I had SP23 rage last night after one thought he could box with a Series 6 RX7, hence the random flaming of certain owners.

The guys from a certain RX7 club refer to the SP23's as 'little mozzies'. They are annoying, but you have to admire them for their ankle biting prowess. As stated, they are great cars, but it all boils down to the individual buying it.

The Sportivo was more fun to drive, which is why I ended up buying it when I did. Ironically I still miss the inside of that car even when sitting in the cockpit of the Seven. The cabin noise might have been a tad over the top, but that's what stereo's and extremely loud intakes are for.

That high cam note wailed like a banshee, especially when hitting it through the city.

      CH-R sudden engine failure

      Just to give an update and provide information to all those CHR owners who are experiencing issues with the Carbon build up issue that the CHR cars have- after a long and lengthy battle with Toyota I finally won on warranty terms and received a full refund for my car. Fortunately, I have a BP card which I use for all my fuel purchases so I was able to provide evidence of only using good quality fuels and all my servicing records were up to date. As per the advice I received from consumer affairs this is a design fault. Carbon buildup in a motor in such short period of time is not a normal or expected condition for a car and therefore is deemed to be a design fault. Under warranty laws unless the provider of the product can provide a long term fix- at NO COST to the consumer, then the consumer is entitled to either a replacement product or a refund. As consumer affairs explained to me- if you bought a TV and due to a wiring issue it shut down on occasion then you would be entitled to a replacement or a refund- no different just because the dollar value of the item shutting down is higher than a TV dollar value. In addition to this is the fact that the carbon build up causes the car to shut down which is deemed to be a safety issue and this should be a safety recall. Toyota did a recall for faulty towbars for safety- but they don't see an issue that causes a car to shut down mid traffic as a safety issue.....?? At present Toyota's fix to the problem is to issue an internal bulletin to all Toyota dealerships servicing departments stating that all CHR's need to have a full engine clean conducted as part of the car's servicing. Carbon build up in a car is NOT NORMAL and should not fall under general servicing. This is a fault and a problem with the motor design. The cost of this additional engine clean will be at the car owners expense and as per warranty laws this is not satisfactory. Also if any other CHR owners are travelling high kms such as myself, a clean at the time of servicing may not be satisfactory timeframe for removing the carbon build up. At the 80,000km + mark my car was requiring an engine clean before i had travelled 10,000kms to remove the carbon build up. Toyota provided me with the attached Guest Information notice - this is a joke. My car was not simply mis-firing it was stalling and shutting down. The carbon build up is also not temporary - it is continual due to the engine design. And apparently a CHR needs to be warmed up like an old car and not accelerated hard ? What are they selling an old FJ Holden !( No offense to the old FJ Holden intended here) All CHR owners should be made aware of this. GUEST INFORMATION NOTICE.pdf

      2Door 1975 KE30 Corolla 4Sale

      Looking to see what offers are made for my 2Door 1975 KE30 Corolla The car has been sitting in the garage for quite a few years now as I planned to have it restored. Unfortunately, I have not gotten around to it and am now considering selling if I receive a reasonable offer. The photos in this ad are old however the condition of the car is still similar to the photos. There is a couple of rust spots that need attention and a dent to the body that can all be resolved with the know-how. All in all condition of the car is really quite good. The engine was running great and did not have any issues when I was driving it a few years ago but it has sat around for a few years now. The car has always been reliable and great to drive. This was my first car and I have no strong desire to sell, if the right offer came along I would consider selling due to needing the money for other things. I would like to pass this rare Corolla on to someone with the passion to restore it. You do not see 2 door KE30s around anymore and I don't know if there are any more of these left in SA (it might be the only 1975 KE30 left in Aus).

      Low Fuel Warning Light Flashing

      Hi guys,I have 2 solutions to this problem, Me : I have an early 2015 VDJ200 and I got the "Fuel system error" come up on the dash, my fix was, 1. Checked the relay for the Jet Pump in the main tank, found that the relay was not getting the earth signal from the ECU (for whatever reason). This stops the subtank from emptying into the main tank. I earthed out the relay and now the Jet pump runs as soon as you start the engine, 3yrs later and still going strong, no fault codes, all that is different is that you can hear the pump run when turning on the ignition. 2. Second possible cause (as written up in the now defunct lcool.org) The wiring on top off the fuel pump lid (connector) can melt and cause a high resistance thus stopping the pump from operating and therefore causing the subtank not emptying into the main tank. I hope this helps everyone who has this fault. Please note this applies ONLY to the Turbo Diesel V8 Cheers, Paul

      How many kms is too many 2014 150 series

      Hi We have 2014 Prado 150 series diesel which has done 304K kms. Serviced regularly. Timing belt done at 300K. Wanting to give to relative but don’t want issues for her. Is that number if kms going to be an issue. Or do you know of anything else which could be. Dianne TCB
