Installing a sub in my Gen 5

Recommended Posts

I pulled my sub out of old car and recently got a new head unit. I have started putting it in.... But, I can't seem to find any way to get the power cable through the fire wall. Anyone done this before? I'm stumped.

Thanks in advance.

The best way I've found is to just punch a small hole through the large rubber plug that the factory wiring loom goes through and run it with the factory wires.

This way there's no drilling and also when uninstalling there's no holes in the firewall that shouldn't be there :)

There should be a firewall where the passenger feet is, if not a feet above it. Id tape the power wire to a flathead screw or metal hanger and give it a hard nudge.

DON'T POKE ANY HOLES YET!!! sorry about the caps but yeah, don't make any holes yet.

I've already ran cables for my amps etc. and I did not need to poke a hole.

I cannot remember which one exactly and it is too dark atm, but it would be the passenger side near the strut tower.

I can check for you and tell you tomorrow =)

Just run it through that big gromit where the engine loom goes into. I've got my 0 gauge running through there. If you take off the plastic bit under the glove box and poke your head underneath, with a torch, you'll be able to see exactly where it comes out. You dont even need to take the glove box out.
