Hi there, I have a hilux which is in perfect condion except the bullbar and towbar are full of rust. I am taking it on a long trip and want everything sorted before I go. I want to pull the bars off and get them sandblasted, but what do I do with them after that? Galvanize, powdercoat? they are black at the moment and I want them to stay that way. What are my options and how much will it cost me? Also, the lux is the only vehicle I have access to that will actually carry the bars to the various treatment places when they are removed, is it really illegal to drive it without the bullbar if the original bumper was removed to install the bar??? Thanks

are they "bull-bars" or are they just the regular Bumper Bar?

if they are Bull Bars... then removing them wouldnt be illegal, i'm not sure on the rules with bumper bars though

Its a bullbar but there is no bumper bar, they take them off to install the proper commercial bullbars so I would be driving it without any sort of bumper bar etc on the front

u can drive without ya bullbar no probs mate as long as there no brackets etc hanging of it that could "be of danger to pedestrians" done it heaps of times with my lux's and as far as repainting it i would powdercoat it black or somethin last a while is much cheaper and looks the goods
