Aurion @ Wakefield Park

So I ran the Aurion at a track day @ Wakefield Park today.

The car's completely stock with the addition of an extra transmission cooler.

Tyres are the Michelin Energy thingys.

The Aurion is a barge on the track. Took a while to learn the dynamics of the large large car. The car exhibited a lot of understeer and took a while to get used to the autobox and the way it shifts, in contrast to my Civic, you had to really time the shifts because of the shift lag of the auto box. At the point where I needed the car to accelerate, it just bogged causing terminal understeer. Ended up just sticking to 3rd and 4th.

Mid way through, I had serious brake fade which cooked (Ever seen brake pads tuen to white ash?) out my brakes for the final sessions.

Good thing is that when you do get an off road excursion, the suspensions soak up all the bumps on the grass and dirt.

With the cooked brakes, I managed to pull consistent 1:18s with best time @ 1:17.8

If the brakes were not cooked, I believe 1:16s (Maybe more - as I get more used to the car) in its current trim is possible coupled with some mucking around with tyre pressures (Started off at 46psi hot front, to eventually 40 Psi Hot front, and 44 psi hot rear)

Comparision of timings

Aurion SX6 (Totally Stock including factory Michelin tyres) 1:17.8

My EG Civic 1989cc with RE55s 1:09.4

My EG Civic 1989cc with Street RE001s 1:11.2

Honda Accors Euro (Another driver) Modified I/E - Manual, with Semi Slick : 1:17.7
