Vienta V6 Fuel Consumption

DIVO

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Complements of the season ! My 95 Vienta is flat out getting 400kms around town from a tank of unleaded. Is this about average, or is it using more than it should? What do you get from your gen 3's ?

cheers

i was getting that.

until i realised it's chewing a lot more than it should

then my old man serviced it and changed some parts

now it does about 500 out of a tank if not more.

i never asked him what was wrong with it or what he changed/serviced, but if you would like to know i can ask for u. i don't drive the car anymore since i gave it back to him and now he uses it as a work/leisure/towing car.

A good service and a tune on the 3VZs wouldn't hurt mate :) You run Manual or Auto??

I believe a good set of oil, 98 octane fuel... new fuel filter, check the air intake...

Nulon make this additive you place in the fuel called "Total System Cleaner" - Run the car down to empty (Well, as empty as possible), fill up with 98 octane fuel (Shell IMO as well as a lot of others seems to be the best) and add the additive... run it down a tank, and then get the Nulon injector cleaner with 98 octane.

I noticed the car will run a bit shakily, but that was purely because it was removing some buildup from inside the engine. Works a treat now.

I can get over 500km a tank around town easily.

If get less than 600km per tank i'm spewin'! FYI, i drive a manual

things i do to get this:

one a week, do a long steady freeway drive (about 40 -80 km)

fill will 95 octane (caltex vortex works fine)

change oil every ~8000k'm plus filter (nothing flash, just something that does the job)

drive like old man where you can, only lay it down if I need to or on at a random moment :)

plugs, leeds and full injector treatment (where they take them out and clean) - this should be done every 100,000 along with the t/belt. This is costly, but well worth it IMO

i've done the above recently and can say that car runs better, smoother and get better fuel range per tank. the more freeway driving I do, the better range I get off each tank. just recenlty, got 850km off one full tank, a/c on all the time.

anything is possible, if you put your mind to it :)
