Hey Guys, Mitchell here

I have a 93 toyota camry vienta widebody V6 SDV10 just under 300 000km's.

Sometimes when i go to start the car, something in the engine just clicks, thats it, no attempt to start, just a loud clicking sound.

When i continue to try and start a few more times it kicks in. Sometimes it will struggle for a while then start. Others it will sound

sluggish to start but then finally get its way up to the start.

One started the car works perfectly. On idle it never ever seems like it will stall or anything. I suspect starter motor but just to make sure

i thought i'd better ask.

Any suggestions and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, have a great day

probably anything to do with the starter motor, eg. pinion or flywheel teeth jammed, worn, broken, etc. could also be corroded wiring in the starter circuit. but sounds more like starter motor to me

Yeah, clicking is the classic sign of a bad starter. Only other thing would be if your battery terminals are loose or coroded. If neither of those, it's the starter. Get a rebuilt one.

First thought - battery... 2nd was starter motor.

I went overseas for 2 weeks and came back to start the car and got the clicking... battery musta been on it's way out. Ended up goin and buyin one that day.

As stated, hit up the wreckers for a new starter if it's not the battery... much cheaper. Them things aren't cheap!
