Drivers Seat Belt Light

Hi Guys

I have a 96 Camry with the seat belt warning light always on. The problem is in the switch in the seatbelt. If I push the buckle further into the socket (that has the switch) it turns off. Can you pull the female connection apart to repair it?

It seems to me that the switch has come loose.

Thanks

I'd be inclinded to get a new buckle latch as a whole, seatbelts are something you don't want to be pulling apart and putting back together unless you are licensed/authorised to do so, it can have very serious safety ramifications if a seatbelt fails because something internal wasn't screwed in properly.

and dont go find one in the wreckers either. Its one of those parts where you'd want to pay top $$ for as it can ultimately save your life!

Just before I got my camry, the previous owner told me that he needed to change the seatbelt because the belt had some threads loose......he ordered a 2nd hand one from a mechanic who didnt have any stocks for a new one but just before he brought the car in he managed to get a brand new one and got it installed. Turned out the new one was cheaper than the 2nd hand one LOL
