1ZZ & 2ZZ oil filters

Does anyone know why the 2ZZ oil filter is 10mm taller then the 1ZZ oil filter?

The OEM Toyota (Denso) ones are the same. The 2ZZ one is taller then the 1ZZ..

But I don't know why.. lol

Maybe the 2ZZ-GE needs a higher capacity oil filter.. hence the extra 10mm..

Maybe Toyota required the 2zz to have more filtration to hold more crap so it doesn't get into the tiny orifaces within the valve train.

Then is there anything stopping us from installing a bigger oil filter on the 1ZZ's to give it better filtration? (beside Clearance issues)

There won't be any clearance issues on a 1zz as the 2zz filter already sits lower due to the factory oil cooler.

I tried that on my 1zz and since then I was always running the longer one...Felt the car a bit more responsive...but yeah could be psychological...

yeah, i think i'll do the same. bigger filter = better filterarion :)
