stivo vs standard rolla

Recommended Posts

If a standard stivo was to take on a standard rolla but both had to change evey gear b4 the stivo hit lift eg 5000rpm, would it be an even race or does the stivo still put out more at the lower revs?

thats a tough one, but i would say that the 1z would win :P lol :P

as long as the stivo didn't hit lift :P otherwise, no hope...

actually, now that i think about it, the stivo is quicker purely because it has a shorter gear ratio, it doesn't take as long for the rev's to build up... but the 1zz has just a bit more torque,

thats my input, probably wrong... but hey :P

The 1ZZ will make more torque earlier (rpm for rpm), and it's peak torque will be below 5000rpm.

The 2ZZ has more peak torque much later at 6800rpm, with shorter gearing to help the lack of torque low down.

My Sportivo doesn't really start to feel alive until 4500rpm onward, so a 1ZZ might have a meagre advantage under your specified conditions. :P

Cheers, Gav.

Could be an even match but just say both have to change at 6000rpm (6200rpm is lift engagement i think), i think the 1zz would edge ahead due to peak power being at around 6000, but saying that if we look at the stock intake piping of the 1zz there is whole lot more the air goes through before the engine

a yaris will beat a sportivo if i change revs at 1500rpm.

The gear ratios will take down a 1zz anyday.

Hey whitestivo, how about a 1ZZ-FZE :P

haha lol

haha

evan, hot car this morning, rims look fantastic.

i was thinking about this today, no chance, i'll back the sportivo any day.

when does the 1zz redline, as if the stivo is shifting at 6000rpm is that earlier?

See, thats the downfall of the 1ZZ, just as the stivo 'lift' kicks in, the 1ZZ hits Redline/Rev limiter :o

talk about missing out  im still happy though :D

Personally,

i think the money that would go towards swapping a 1ZZ to a 2ZZ would be better off spent on a supacharga  :D

but considering how much work is involved in putting a 2ZZ in a 1ZZ... a bit much :(

EDIT: just read your question... does anyone know if a sportivo 6 speed transmission can be attached to a 1ZZ?

I have no idea lol

But can the 6-speed be used without needing to modify anything?

i thought, since its a shorter ratio, it would require a rebuild or something?

If it can be done... i may consider this ;)

Ask Pippy... He would know... That lucky guy... <_<

The 6sp box is direct fit.

Oh, and a standard 1zz will be a standard 2zz before lift. Look at the power curve...

And a 1zz-fze will still be slower than a modded 2zz-ge... :P
