Advice on Corona XT130 Modifications?????

Hi All,

Im hoping for some advice i have had a XT130 for about a year as a daily driver and have always wanted to turn it into a sleeper. I just purchased another on on ebay that is almost as good as new only 50000km and has always been garaged. It is a gold colour and would make an ultimate sleeper. This is where i am stuck. I have been told by holden nuts (all of my family) to put a 253 V8 Turbo or a Commodore V6 in it because they will drop in as the starfire engine has holden mounts? Not knowing alot about Toyota engine ranges does anyone have any suggestions for me so i can stay toyota?

Avoid those engines like the plague. The J series engines have been a documented conversion, along with the older G series.

the xt130 has generous engine bay space so many toyota and non toyota engines are available. How far you go would all depend on how much you can do yourelf and the depth of your pockets. I wouldn't suggest the G engines though as they are pretty old now and never have been easy for spares

get hold of a sprinter (supercharged) and gearbox will have a little screamer also a solid diff (b/w) with disc brakes from late sedan standard ratio 4.11 bolt straight in with no mods.
