1975 hiace pickup campervan

I have picked up a 1975 hiace pickup with a camper on the back. At the present it has a petrol engine (I am guessing 1.6 L) and is underpowered, can anybody tell me if that model came out with a desiel and if so what one

After finding that with a rebuilt motor the previous owner had put a stuffed distributer back in with a 3 thou point gap, half working fuel pump and filter, etc, I have decided to keep the original engine and instead attempt to find a five sped box. Better to keep the old girl as close to original as possible after all she is 34 years old and still going well. All I really have to replace is the camper floor which is rotted. Other than that she is a great old girl

just picked up a 76 hi-ace van with a 3y and 5 speed in it.. goes well but the 45 litre tank doesnt last long :P

they are hard to find bits for ..

looking for a grill badge and mine will be prett much 100 complete then...

Well I've been given a 2L diesel and 5 speed box from a toyoace which I'm going to transplant. Out of interest what box is in yours

and did they do anything with the brakes. May know who has a badge will check it out this week

not sure what box as yet but believe it is from a 1990 vehicle.

brakes are quite good actually, just had all new wheel cylinders put thru it before i got it but wouldn't mind converting to discs further down the track but they are definetly quite adequate at the moment but i am pretty sedate these days :P

getting the carby on the 3y rebuilt this week in the hope it will cut down the fuel usage as it seems to be going thru it in it's present state. want to take it out and actually use it as intended ...

sorry it tookso long to get back to you, but the guy with the hiace was away. He has just come back and now has changed his mind on wrecking the hiace. Sorry to leave you hanging.
