Hi guys!

I have a 2003 Rav4, love the car, no problems with it, only hiccup is the excessive road noise. Does anyone know if changing tyres will improve it? I've got Bridgestone on at the moment, I would appreciate any ideas!

Your rear tyres will have high spots that cause the noise...

Changing the tyres will fix it temporarily until the new tyres get the same high spots...

Excellent cars overall, just the rear suspension setup that creates the highspots lets it down...

Install some subs and crank em up and you won't worry about the road noise anymore :P

thanks rolla boy, but i'm an old f***rt, can't see the road for all that noise, so subs are out! a gentleman in usa said pirelli tyres worked, but didn't want to spend that much dough in case he had huge subs too!

Hahaha, Pirelli tyres are expensive as...

I think your best bet would be to visit the local tyre expert, explain the problem and ask for his advice...

We recently sold our 2001 RAV4 Edge, but I do recall the original Bridgestone factory tyres were terrible for road noise and eventually scalloped out, even though we rotated them regularly.

We replaced them with Cooper Discoverer HT tyres and had no further issues with road noise at all. Much better.
