Hey there,

Im new here

I have a 1994 EL44 Paseo

Just wondering what mods and conversions people have done

engine wise brakes etc

can ya get a better computer

or EFI setup etc

Just interested to know what ppl have done

i have read about lot of people putting a starlet GT engine in

and read about rear disc brake conversion also

from the starlet gt's

but then found it was harder than i thought to get these parts

at the moment havent done much

just got whole new stainless steel exhaust system (except cat)

and also ceramic coated extractors

kn air filter goes better than it did

but would like to go better again

also have installed a short shifta

and dodgy strut brace

also i had the car for 2 years

and last year bonnet clear coat started flaking off

and hasnt stopped

bonnet cancer

ive seen on heaps of cars in the same era

dodgy clearcoat?

is this common fault?

also wondering if can put a 2L celica engine in?

guessing can't other wise would be on net.

Thanks

Marc

3SGTE doesn't go in too well as the gearbox sits on a funny angle and destroys your turning circle. IMO, turbo-ing a 5EFE is slightly better than doing a direct swap to a 4EFTE as you get the extra displacement. Either way is a fairly expensive procedure.

Disc brake setup can be had from an import wreckers, just grab a whole EP82 rear axle (and handbrake cables). I've been quoted about $300 for the whole lot, add in the cost of new rotors and pads and you're looking at closer to $600.

oh ok cool thanks man

yeah changing the whole axle sounds easier....

yeah was wondering why most people put the starlet gt engine in

rather than doing up the slighty larger original engine

It is an 'easier' swap (not cheap, just easier) plus parts are more readily available for it. If you want heaps of power, turbo the 5E. If you want bolt in upgrade, 4EFTE.

you wouldnt roughly no how many Kilowatts

the starlet gt would put out would you?

and how much more would u get if turbo the 5e

spose depends on the turb setup etc

I think my mate has 130fwhp with just an exhaust, FMIC and retune and still stock everything else. We're doing a manifold, dump pipe and new cooler lines for him in a couple of weeks, I think he's expecting 170fwhp after a tune. Turboing 5E would depend hugely on how much you're willing to spend on it.
