I have a MK3 '89 7M SUPRA. unfortunately it has a BHG. i know how common this issue is thus have decided to look at a new engine, either a 1JZ or 2JZ. im not looking to spend all my money getting a new engine, but want the job well done and still want a decent amount of power out of the car. I havent really heard much about the 1JZ besides the fact that they were in the other models of MK3 supra.

Should be looking at a 2JZ, as i have heard how modifiable it is, or a 1JZ like what came in the JZA70?

If i go for the 1JZ am i going to be buying trouble or are they a good engine?

I live in perth so if anyone knows of a place i could pick up or could suggest a place for me to look to get a good, low km, TURBO engine from and/or get installed into my car i would appreciate it.

1JZ would be the go for you...

It's a very common engine swap as the Jap model JZA70 came with the 1J standard...

Check out the Toymods Car Club forums and I'm sure someone in Perth will be able to help you out...

exactly. 2jz does offer the potential for more power but is far more difficult to swap and much more expensive. 1.5jz is always an option....

I spun a rod bearing in my 7m and decided to rebuild it from the ground up to hold in excess of 350kw, a very satisfying build. Nothing pulls like the 3.0 L in my opinion.7m provides alot of torque and can be reliable if built properly ( MHG/ ARP studs bolts , torqued to correct specs)

      Hey mate, are you sure that's an option for the vehicle? Some models have various set ups. I've had Toyotas that will auto unlock, but not auto lock.       What do I need to change for a 2.5in lift n70

      Have got a 2010 n70 Toyota hilux and looking to bump the front up to a 2.5inch lift. Other than the upper control arms, seeing what else needs for geometry to be stable. cheers

      2005 Toyota Camry Altise - changing transmission fluid?

      I'm not too sure about "old fluid to make shifts". Personally at 160,000 kms I would change oil and FILTER. Clean oil will help your tranmission shifts better and remove worned metals inside, metal shavings can prevent solenoids from working properly. This is preventative maintenance.

      Dangerous rogue dash speaker reflection

      Just purchased a 2024 Rogue, love it generally however. Whichever mental giant decided silver was a good colour to have on a vehicle dash needs to go stare directly into the sun for an hour or so. 🙂 The reflection projected onto the windscreen and the glare that comes off them is very distracting… Anyhow… anyone know: 1. How to get the speaker grills off the dash wart speakers? 2. If there are matt black speaker grills available from somewhere? 3. What could be done to convert these to 100% matt black that will look professional and be durable enough to sit on the dash, exposed to the sun. Thanks in advance!
