  1. holy **** you need new wheels + springs/coilovers . Immediately. You have neglected to fix what Camrys are famous for. Their ridiculously high 4x4 stance and massive amounts of body roll.
  2. yup mine is definetly fake. what i think are the real ones are around $130 on eBay and I can use that $130 in a much better way then an oil cap. Looks good and fulfills its purpose(as far as I can tell). Good enough for me...
  3. Thats about it for now. Suspension is the next major thing holding this car back. I need to get my hands on some coilovers, replace all bushings and get an alignment.
  4. Had to use the original bracket from the stock headlights At night , more then enough coverage Brights
  5. Ok , so did a few more cosmetic upgrades. Toyota badge removed, TRD badge put in place, TRD oil cap , painted pod filter cover , removed timing cover(due to be replaced with carbon fibre timing cover) Replaced speedo sensor unit and fuel sender unit. Used clear covering from another digi dash I bought Replaced stock headlights with these projector ones. Came with a ****ty bulb so I replaced the stock bulb , these + fogs are enough during the night until full hid conversion

  7. Video after 7mgte rebuild. Done 200ks on it so far and set at stock boost. Specs in my sig
  8. Stop trying to sound smart you fool. If you want to be so critical of everyone's writing, how about you learn to be grammatically correct and capitalise names. It's Corolla... not corolla. I see no actual correlation between smartness and grammar, I didn't accuse playwme for being stupid, but now that you've brought up his intelligence maybe you know something about this guy that I don't.... And yes my mistake, should of capitalised Corolla , not as bad as incorrectly spelling a model of a brand you claim to love but meh whatever.... heres an idea....how about you put your stick of power away mr mod and let your sheep fight their own battles...I wasnt even talking to you big man....
  9. Hey playwme, if you like the car , learn to spell the name-corolla. When I spoke of "modding" I meant modding for performance. You would not modify a corolla or aurion or camry because as a base they aren't sports cars , so you start working with something that is not meant for performance in the first place...which means it costs a lot more money for a lot less power. Of course if your purpose is different , then you will mod differently suited to different needs. I guess my mistake was to assume that modding for everyone was to increase performance , rather it is something done to further personalise a car to an individuals tastes. What I have a problem with is enhancements that are completely cosmetic that hint of performance, where no performance actually exists. I guess because I saw the amount of money you guys have dumped into your camrys and rollas , and when I look at engine mods and all i see is "pod filter" it kind of lead me to believe that most of you guys know nothing about speed or performance , but believe by adding all these cosmetic parts that others will think that you do have some level of performance....this is obviously not true. You guys acknowledge that almost every family sedan here offers close to no performance and is certainly much slower then any performance orientated car (imports etc) but instead mod it to suit your needs...for comfort, reliability and space to chuck your offspring. I have a better understanding of the whole situation now, whether some of you think I do or don't ,doesn't really bother me. Question answered. \ thread
  10. Got some big cohones there Mr Evo7 rather big indeed... want to race my import? and mine?
  11. lol, il take that one. It IS land barge like in the rear :) Yeah they can be made into powerhouses...but need to be meticulously maintained at that power level.
  12. Im around , just reading the responses. However my initial post was worded , I did truly want to know why. And now I do.
  13. because it eats up most other sports cars out there running less then 350atwkw , is different , and because it originally was designed as a grand tourer, all the creature comforts exist-18 way adjustable seats that mold to your body , cruise control , retractable mirrors, other small bits ive missed out and more then ample space in the front. Also IMO i think this model is the sexiest Toyota has ever made.
  14. Thanks for the honest answers.Im sorry that I didnt ask it in a better way , I just truly wanted to ask this question before, not why an aurion , but "why an aurion if you are a car enthusiast when there are so many better offerings for what you desire." So from Steven , because of its economical nature , because you like how it looks , trust the brand that makes it for being reliable and has the power when and if you need it. That seems perfectly understandable. Ronnyboy likes the grand touring nature of the car and the fact that they aren't seen as hoon cars and less likely to end you up in trouble with the cops and for jeff its a matter of sentiment. thanks for giving me deeper insight into this and actually answering my question without flaming the $hit out of me. (flame suit still on :) )
  15. Its spelt "thread". Seem to have touched a nerve there "1stkill" . Seems like you knew all this about your car already....Anyway what an intelligent and mature response,I can see why YOU would think that an Aurion is a "sports" car. Now that I have attacked(as a reaction to his post) what I'm sure must be the idol of many of you, let the flaming continue.... I do hope in between the flames and hate that I get an actual answer. If I do ask a non camry/corolla owner , the response is "because they are r*cer dickheads ,just watched fast and furious , have no money and feel like being part of the racing crowd" .I know however that this is not true , the newer Camry is more expensive than most 200's ,skylines, supras etc , so its not a money factor.... so what is it?
  16. thank you for being mature enough to not be offended by my question...i truly mean no harm. I also couldnt afford a newer supra at first...then I just didnt want one because after the p plate laws came in , the 2jzge powered ones became to common. Thats why I settled on an mk3 to mod to my tastes. you really couldn't find another car that was available, challenging and limited but not toyota's most boring family sedan? I'm sorry but I find that impossible.... there are SO many options out there , i cant accept that the Camry was the last option left...
  17. * Please understand that I am not trying to be a douche , I genuinely want to know what drives and inspires you guys to mod a car like a Camry... Ok so after getting a message from Hiro for resurrecting old threads ( which was my fault, didn't check the post date ). I asked him why the supra section was so dead. He said its because most people drive late model Camry's , rollas and Aurions. Ive been browsing through these forums for the past two days and have really seen some amazing mods. However my question is...why do you guys mod cars that really have no decent potential performance or looks wise. They are heavy family sedans that make the majority of people think they are trying to do up a family car...which leads to many assuming they are ricers. Not trying to be a d*ckhead but why oh why would you spend $15 000 on a corolla or Aurion and then do it up. It really makes people think that they want a fast car, simply cannot afford it , so they are just doing mods in the hope that the car they end up with will be partially respectable but because its a frickin camry or corolla...it isn't. After looking around on the forum Ive seen how much these guys have dropped into their ride and the time they have taken to mod it to their tastes. But why? There are so many better alternatives out there that ..I mean its not like most of these guys are on their p's and just waiting to get a turbo monster, they have purposely chose a late model camry or rolla to modify! why???? With the money they spend they can get cars that a)are cheaper b)look better (i do concede that this is merely an opinion) c)doesn't have the side effect of making everyone think that you are a ricer and an idiot by attempting to do up a family sedan. d)actually have aftermarket support and can be modified to produce respectable amounts of power ( 200kw + ) If you love Toyota thats fine , the newer(and older supras are everywhere and are monstors .Even the ma61's have more perfomance potential then a late model camry does. The jzx100 can easily house your kids in the back and its 4 doors. Even if you want to go retro , the old school corolla with the 4agze can really stand out when turbocharged(back when everything wasn't about emissions and the environment). There are ample iterations of cars that have great modifying potential, why pick ones that Toyota intended to build for reliability and comfort rather then performance or looks? Please understand that I am not trying to be an insulting or anything like that , I truly want to know your guys thought processes and why you'd actually do that? I assumed only those that had been given the car by their parents would do basic mods to keep them tied over until they can buy cars that where actually designed from factory for some level of performance, but this is not the case. I know I will be hated and flamed for this topic as many of you drive the very cars this question is about , please understand it is not my intent to insult , but to truly know...why?
  18. a 2jz-ge can be had from $1300 - $2500 for a built one. They are quite common now since the non turbo p plate laws have come into effect
  19. why would you want parts for a head gasket and a new engine? If you are going to replace an engine just go 1 or 1.5 j. If you are going to replace you head gasket , it is preferable but not essential that they pull the engine. If you are getting a metal head gasket then you need arp studs and bolts and need to get the head decked. If you are using the stock gasket just torque it down to correct specs (75nm I believe) . It should cost you about $800 to do a head gasket job with the bearings labour etc...
  20. Hey Guys So I came to Australia from South Africa in 2003 and instantly fell in love with the Japanese cars of the late 80's - 90's . The sleek lines of the 200sx in any iteration or the sound of an rb under a skylines hood sent shivers down my spine.I swore to myself that I would own at least a r32 gtst. As time wore on I found that Skylines where becoming relatively inexpensive and therefore extremely common. They where now known as "japanese commonwhores". When I had finally completed my degree and acquired a stable well paying job I was able to afford what I always wanted but instead decided to pursue an avenue not that common. I saw an ad for a Toyota Supra turbo in the gumtree classifieds and went to see it. Knowing that because of the p plate laws , non turbo mk4(jza80) supras where now becoming the new "japanese commonwhore". I was adamant that I wasn't going to be a sheep and follow the crowd. When I first laid eyes on the ma70 i now own I instantly fell in love with it. The sleek lines, that aggressive front and the torque pull of the 3.0L turbo completely consumed me. It oozed 80's japanese style and wasnt as common as the mk4's. I had to have it. When I bought it in Dec 2010 In my excitement I had forgotten to follow the proper steps that should be undertaken with the purchase of any used car and basically purchased it for a very good price but with a lot of issues. The car started out with - a slight knock from the 7mgte - diff leaking and non lsd - auto gearbox safety switch broken(also as340e auto tranny meant for non turbo yet handling boost leading to issues) - fuel tank leaking - fuel lines damaged - digital dash intermittently working ( fuel guage and speedo doesn't work) - brakes all round where worn ( rotors and pads) After driving it for a month I decided to stupidly turn the boost up without knowing enough about 7m's and their inherent weaknesses. Apparently they are notorious for not being able to deal with low oil conditions. After a night of spirited driving on 0.7bar boost ( up from stock of 0.35 bar) a knocking sound greeted me the following morning. This got worse with increased revs and I knew something was terribly wrong. After a listen by an experienced ear it was confirmed that I indeed had spun a rod bearing and this needed a bottom end rebuild. At that point I decided whether to go 1jzgte or rebuild my 7m. My friend and mechanic was an avid mk3 supra owner and collector and had a number of high performance parts from forged pistons and rare TRD group A camshafts to a diff and fuel tank that I needed. A 7mgte built properly and taken care of can make insane amounts of power. I decided to rebuild the 7m , take care of the blown head gasket problem they are notorious for and build it to hold in excess of 350kw. -I used forged pistons that where over sized which meant I had to bore and hone the 7m out to just under 3.1L -I used the group A TRD cams with 288intake 288 exhaust with insanely high 12mm lift (very rough idle) -Installed a metal head gasket with ARP studs/bolts and torqued to 110nm after the head was decked I kept the stock rods as I felt they where enough for my purpose -Installed an lsd diff so I could get the power to both wheels -All new brakes(rotors and pads all around) -New fuel tank The only part of the mk3 design that I did not agree with and thought looked outdated where the pre89 tail lights and the ugly stock sawblades. I took the tail lights from a the later model mk3 and fit them on to give it a better look. These are getting smoked with tail light wrap this weekend. Ive replaced the amber indicators with clear ones Ive also fit Volk Racing Sf Challenge Zero that cost me quite a bit but with 275's 18x10 in the rear and 235's 18x9 in the front , they certainly suit my needs and look much better The car as it stands : My Megan track coil overs should arrive sometime next week , Ive already sourced an r154 conversion kit and have already purchased a Haltech e6x. My March next year I hope to have the r154 and haltech installed and running 250kw on a safe tune. As it stands the engine has only done 200km's so I am still running it in and it is set at stock boost. Thanks for taking a look at my progress.
  21. Hey Guys So I came to Australia from South Africa in 2003 and realised how fortunate I was to have the resources to explore my passion. Just wanted to say hi to all other toyota owners out there! If you are have a passion for turbo beasts as I do follow my build MA70 build. Peace :)
  22. oh and if you own a supra ,your bible ---> cygnus
