Hi there, very new to this site, just brought a 2003 corolla sportivo and am looking to modify my current air intake, the car has some power but it comes across as restricted as all new-ish cars do

Just wondering has anyone done it? have any problems? and what are the advantages? I know it lifts HARD at about 6,000RPM and i wanna keep that :)

i noticed also looking at the intake setup there is an aweful lot of sh*t plugged in / connected to / hanging off the airbox and air hose, so i need to know, by modifying this the way i want, will i damage stuff? will

sh*t not work properly any more?

ANY information / help would be greatly appreciated on this matter

Thanks guys and gals

Aaron.

Welcome to TOCAU! Glad you could be here

In my opinion, If there is anything you should do with your Sportivo, is to firstly find yourself a Cold Air Intake (Legal and proven performance increase)

Familiarise yourself around the forum and I'm postive you will come across this topic and more :)

Forum Search Feature is very helpful, try it out

Enjoy your stay!

hi there i recently did a super home made cold air intake ( ill take some photos tomorow. i think it cost about $30 as i already had the pipe. i just bought a cheap air filter (which i am regreting now with all the dust floating around :P)

basicly if you look inside your intake box you will notice a white piece of plastic stuck to the end of the pipe traveling to your intake manifold, all i did was strap a 3 inch pipe to that then run that pipe to the front of the car. (just above the fog light) with a filter on the end. This means you dont have to touch any of the tubes or maf connected to the air box. My moddel is a 2005 but im sure it is basicly identical accept for where your fog light is placed, this should give you more room any way and allow you to move the airfilter around.

I dont think you realy get any more power out of the car i think the power is just accessed lower in the revs ( this is just my 2 cents and i have no proof what so ever) i belive there might be slightly more tourqe as i can drive in 6th every where now when i had to drive in 5 th nearly all the time ( i am in a relatively hilly area)

ill try my best to get some photos tomorow but they wont be the best as its pretty squishy in there :P

Make sure you search the fourms as there is STACKS of info out there. What i made will probably be replaced with a proper setup when all the loans are payed off as im worried if it would stay on if i hit a massive pot hole :P

Here is the thread i started about home made cai ( http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=23599 )

hope this helps

Edit:

I tryed my best to take some photos to help explain it, soz about the quality of some of the photos... i had to get in some pretty werid positions to obtain these shots .
