I am about to replace the in tank fuel filter on my 06 Ascent and wonder what you use to unscrew the retaining collar. The shop manual states a special tool is used but of course the Toyota tool is not available and I have been unable to find an aftermarket equivalent in Australia. I can import one from USA but the postage is more than the cost of the tool. Can any one help?

hi roger... mate all u need for replacing the in tank fuel filter is

- 8mm quarter drive and ratchet

- flat head screwdriver

- either combination or long nose pliers

the flat head screwdriver should be able to remove everything that u need to and then its jus a matter or moving all the things u have disconnected over to the new filter..

should take about 15 mins all up.

Thanks Kevin but its not that simple. The fuel pump is held in place by a plastic collar which screws off and this is the tool I require. The fitting which used bolts was fitted to pre 05 or 06 models, mine has of course the collar fitting! I am still looking for the required tool.
